Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • John was very accommodating for a last minute stay for us. (He even called to check on us one night to see if we were alright when we left some belongings outside the front door!). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. It is in a very quiet neighborhood as well, right next to Mt Tabor Park (a nice walk!).

  • John was an excellent host. He is a very kind, open, and interesting guy. He was very helpful as well. I was in Portland visiting family and the house was an ideal refuge. The room was clean and spacious and common areas were nice. The location is near Mt. Tabor Park and several great coffee shops (speed boat, rain or shine).

  • John is an incredibly hospitable host. Clean sheets and towels, a clean bathroom with plenty of hot water, a beautiful mellow back patio for quiet reading. There's a door between the bedrooms and the rest of the house if sleep and activity schedules aren't well-aligned. John went out of his way to make us feel welcome and like we had our own space in his house.

The house is about a 40 minute walk to Hawthorne, and a few minutes walk to the nearest mini mart, Sunny's. There's also a lovely coffee shop called Rain or Shine on 59th and Division that's a nice stroll away in the mornings.

  • I was in Portland to visit my daughter and her new baby. Since she did not have space, I needed a room nearby. John Johnson's home was a short 10 blocks away and provided just what I needed. The neighborhood is warm and bike and walker friendly. I had John's room; it was pleasant and the bed most comfortable. There were four additional people staying in the home and I found this reassuring. Three of us shared a bathroom on the main floor and the other two were downstairs. This home and room provided just what I needed in my present circumstance. John contacted me in advance and offered information on interesting things to do in the neighborhood. He is an eager and friendly host.

  • John was an incredible host -- he was traveling when I first contacted him regarding a stay in his home, and yet still went above and beyond in assisting me to set up my stay in Portland. My room was very comfortable, John was warm and friendly, and the home had everything I needed, right down to the yoga mat in the room and the loving cats. I happened to be located within walking distance to my friends house, which was ideal to me, but in general the home is located within a short walk to a couple bus lines, hiking at Mount Tabor, and a cheerful cafe called Rain or Shine. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Wow! What a great rest stop on my journey. The queen size bed was more comfortable than my bed at home.
The house is on a beautiful tree lined street that's very quiet.
The people at the house were friendly and enjoyable to chat with. And the patio is really great. There's a Sequoia at there
that's like nothing I've ever seen before.
I look forward to staying there again.
