This bright and spacious apartment is situated within a villa-type house in the heart of Gueberschwihr. The house, built in 1620, was once the home of the local blacksmith. It has been lovingly refurbished to retain its original features and charm.
The "villa" boasts a large swimming pool and terrace, perfect on a hot summers day and for enjoying a glass of the local alsatian wine at night.
Gueberschwihr is an authentic alsatian village, full of charm. Ideal for walking, biking, fishing or visiting the local wine-makers. With its own selection of excellent restaurants you can chose to eat out in the village or venture into Colmar (the local town) if you chose. It is located next to the Vosges mountain range and within 10 minutes to Colmar. Strasbourg is a 30 minute train ride away with neighbouring Germany and Switzerland on your doorstep.
The apartment is within easy access of the Mulhouse-Basel Euro Airport (40 minutes by car with bus and train links available).
We are happy to arrange the following for you, just let us know! :
- Collection at the airport or Colmar train station.
- Wine tasting or "dégustation" with our favourite wine producers in the village.
- Reservations in any of the local restaurants.
We look forward to hosting you!

We were welcomed immediately when we arrived. We stayed in five airbnb places on our trip around France and this was our favorite ! Everything we could need was here. The area us beautiful and we were given excellent advice and information on what to do. After traveling and struggling with the language we also appreciated the BBC TV!
We had a great 3-night stay in Michael's apartment. The apartment, part of a house built in 1620, is beautifully renovated and decorated with modern amenities (great bathroom, kitchen and washer/dryer) mixed with charming old features. The apartment is spacious, and having access to the pool and terrace was great. The location was good - the village is charming and quiet, but is only about a 15-20 minute drive to Colmar which has lots of shops, restaurants, and sights. We also enjoyed driving/walking along the Route du Vin, which runs through the village.
Michael and his father-in law were perfect hosts, getting us settled in the apartment, giving us a quick history of the property and town, and leaving tons of great information to fill our time in Alsace. Michael even stopped by later with some information on local hiking after we expressed interest, and his father-in-law was available at the house for anything we needed.
Overall, great property and great hosts - we would definitely recommend to friends and family.
I would like to say that Mr. Michael was very accommodating and even went as far as put some bottles of water in the fridge because of the high temperatures. Ah there was also a nice bottle of wine waiting for us the fridge. Mr. Michael was also very helpful and available to give us tips on what to do around the area. Even providing us info on where to rent bikes.
Regarding the place everything was clean and well arranged. The bathroom had all the necessary amenities and the kitchen had all the needed utensils to prepare a small meal. There was even a coffee machine available for our use.
In the listening it is clearly described the availability of a pool which Mr. Michael clearly knows to be false. During our time there the pool was unavailable due to him constructing a new barbecue place.
This was very unfortunate because the pool was the main reason for us to chose his place and because of the temperatures over 30 degrees felt during our time there. When asked about the unavailability of the pool Mr. Michael went as far as to tell us that in Colmar there are pools, which for us felt like a quite rude an inappropriate commentary.
I would also like to remark that the bathroom window is completely transparent and it is possible to see inside (only near the shower area) from the outside. This is avoidable by leaving the bathroom door open. For us it was this was just minor annoyance.
If we were not planing on using the pool being on Mr. Michael's place would have probably been a 5 star experience. However due to these circumstances we just felt mislead by his listening and just ended up hanging inside the room waiting for the temperatures to go low. If we were made aware of the not availability of the pool we would have not booked his place. Due to this reason we rate our stay 3 stars.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. I completely understand your frustration and I must apologise firstly for the pool not being available as mentioned in the details and secondly my comment which was really meant as an alternative sorry it came across as rude. I will take on-board your comments and ensure all future expectations are met.
We had a great time at Michael's apartment in Gueberschwihr. His father-in-law, Russell made us feel at home. Very clean, quiet and comfortable apartment with a washer and dryer. Nice location. Would highly recommend and would gladly stay there again.
Michael was great, lots of communication and he was waiting for us on arrival. Took us to meet the neighbor winemaker right away! The bathroom is good with a great shower. A real washer and dryer! Kitchen a bit small (no coffee maker, a kettle and instant coffee) and bed is two mattresses pushed together, but all in all a solid 4-5 for the place, a 5 for michael, a 5 for location
Our stay in Alsace could not have been any better. Michael thought of everything when putting this Airbnb together. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals and the washer AND dryer were a godsend to long term travelers like us.
The village itself is charming and looks like a postcard from the past. Michael and Russell (the owner and "neighbor") both gave us great suggestions for dining and sight seeing. Russell was so friendly and welcoming. My son told us he wants "someone like him when we get back home" :).
We hope to one day return to visit our new friends and drink more cremant d"Alsace!!
The apartment was very comfortable, very cozy, and had everything you would need. Michael was easy to contact and quick to respond, and offered and map and many suggestions of things to see.
I'd recommend the place to anyone!
