We spent an hour trying to look for Makki's place and tried calling Makki when we were driving close but there was no answer. There were a couple of false finds. We use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps. It is a restaurant that came to our rescue when we asked for direction to Makki's place. The restaurant owner walked us to Makki's place. It came as a big surprise for all of us when we finally realised the location, because minutes earlier we asked a lady who exited from an adjacent apartment building to Makki's place, and the lady couldn't tell us Makki's address was right next door to her apartment building. Makki's place is cozy small. The tatami mattress at Makki's place is wafer thin and I could feel the floor. I stayed at a previous place also with tatami mattress but it was much thicker such that I couldn't feel the hard floor at all.

Makki's place suited my needs well. It's very large by any standard, especially for Japan. I found it very clean. The space heaters were more than adequate for me. It's conveniently located so long as you have a car. I didn't meet Makki but she responded quickly and made checking in and out easy. I'd recommend it.

The place is spacious and has everything a family would need. We had no trouble finding the location as we drove to it. Since most Hokkaido visitors drive, they should have no issues finding the house. The place could use some updating, but it is exactly as pictured. We had a minor issue with the sheets, but Makiko was quick to respond and kind enough to fix right away. Great value for money!

Makiko's flat in Asahikawa was fine for our short stay. Having 3 separate rooms makes for good privacy as we were traveling with adults and a child. It was clean and comfortable. It had off street car parking in the driveway that was very convenient. While it met our needs for this leg of our trip, and effort was clearly made to make the space more homey with some decorative flourishes, it was spartan on the side of industrial feeling for location and amenities. The only sink was in the kitchen, and it's plumbing was unmixed with separate hot and cold water faucets. There was really no counter space and only a two burner stove, but given we only used one pan that wasn't an issue and conversely I appreciated the giant exhaust fan for the foods we cooked. Linens and towels were good. Overall it was a fine stay, and as long as your expectations are modest you are good to go, but if we had been expecting a location as plush as the Air BNBs we had stayed in Tokyo or Sapporo, we would have been a little disappointed.

Miss Makiko has been an excellent host. Her help is prompt and provide many good suggestions to my visit to Asahikawa. She is like a close friend. Her home is at a great location. Safe and well appointed. Daiichi supermarket, 7-11 just round the corner. Even the delicious ramen 梅光軒 is near. It will be like a home away from your home.

place is quiet so i guess it’s better to drive! plus Makki allowed us to park our car in front of her house. there’s a public bath (onsen) nearby which is less than 5 mins walk. house is clean. no basin to brush our teeth, we had to do it in the kitchen. overall a pleasant stay.
