About this listing
Fully furnished 1-bedroom apartment within walking distance of the best shopping, galleries and restaurants in Taos. Quiet and peaceful--perfect place to unwind and discover the charm of northern New Mexico.
The apartment is cozy and comfortable for 1-2 people. There's an intimate patio area with bistro table--perfect for your first cup of coffee in the morning. Or if you prefer, take your cuppa to the front courtyard where you can hear the splash of the fountain and watch the birds, bees and butterflies come for a morning bath.
It's all about location--you're within a short walk of the plaza yet in a very private and secluded getaway. Many guests remark that they are able to park their cars in the off-street area and do all their exploring by foot.
There's a larger grocery just a block away--even a pizza takeaway within walking distance! For skiers, the Taos Ski Valley shuttle stops a short block away on Paseo del Pueblo Sur.
If you're visiting in the winter, we have a small and extremely efficient Norwegian wood burning stove that adds to the ambiance as well as the coziness of the apartment.
The bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed (new mattress as of April 2014) yet is large enough to accommodate suitcases without feeling cramped.
The bathroom is small but very convenient with a large walk in shower with Talavera tile.
The kitchen is fully furnished so you can decide whether to take advantage of Taos' numerous first rate restaurants or stay at home and keep life simple. There's a full-size refrigerator and stove as well as the usual smaller appliances (toaster, hand mixer, blender--for the inevitable margaritas in the patio!).
There is a shared washer and dryer (free of charge) just 10 yards from the apartment.
In the back I have a small Tuff Shed where you can store your bikes, snow shoes, skis or excess luggage--locked and secure!
Interaction with Guests
I love Taos and am always eager to share recommendations and suggestions for places to go and things to do.
I love the location of the apartment because of its proximity to the plaza area. And the grassy green courtyard is a great place to relax and unwind.
If you bring your bikes, you can pedal all around town. Taos' answer to mass transit (the Chile Express!) stops one block from the apartment on Paseo del Pueblo Sur
Other Things to Note
We require a 2 night minimum. In non-peak periods we will attempt to accommodate a single night stay but will require the guest to pay a cleaning fee.
If you have a 4-legged traveling companion contact us for details on appropriate pet owner behaviors while at the apartment.
We do not allow smoking inside the apartment or in the patio area.
My husband and I loved our stay and were totally pleased with the condo, beautiful courtyard, closeness to the plaza, and value. Our host's suggestion about hiking in the Amole Canyon was especially appreciated.
Donna was great with communication right away, and we booked months in advance. She responded quickly to my emails when I touched base for follow up. The condo was wonderful! Ample space, comfortable bed and the kitchen had everything we needed.
The condo was exactly what was advertised. It was clean, quiet, and close to the plaza. It was 90+ degrees while we were in Taos so it got a little warm on the condo, but the ceiling fans and portable fan (which Donna provided) helped make it comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay in Taos, despite the rainy weather. The apartment had everything we needed and was about a 10 minute walk to Taos Plaza.
Donna's directions were good and the condo was easy to find. It was a great location - felt quiet and secluded while being a quick walk to the plaza with museums, shops and restaurants. It was a sweet little place, just as described, and very clean and comfortable. We used the kitchen for breakfast and lunch although it was so well equipped that we could have prepared a whole meal easily.
The Oasis of Taos charmed us! We could easily go back for a week and hang out there. It exudes southwest charm with its decor, lively paint colors and beautiful tile. The apartment is warm, very clean and quite spacious. The kitchen is very well equipped, so we were able to do some cooking for ourselves (and the grocery store is only about a block away). And then there is the courtyard! It is landscaped beautifully, and had an array of iris in full bloom while we were there. So beautiful! Everything worked and was as described in the listing. Though we never met Donna in person, she was a great communicator and included a very helpful sheet of "what to do and where to eat" in Taos. This apartment is within walking distance of great shops, which was another plus.
We had a wonderful time at Sonterra! Donna was a great host and the condo was warm, cozy and perfect for a brief romantic vacation in the mountains. The property is lovely and within walking distance of the Plaza, as well as several nice restaurants and a grocery store. We felt very at home here and hope to return. Thanks for a wonderful trip to Taos!
