This is the largest room in the house. It has a queen bed, a closet, a desk with chair and lamp, a rocking chair, a dresser with mirror, and 2 night stands with lamps.
If this room is booked, there is another room upstairs on airbnb.
Guests have 24/7 access to common areas, including a fully equipped kitchen (with gas range/oven), a bathroom with a full-sized tub and shower, a high capacity washer and dryer, and a whole-house heating and cooling system.
In addition, there is a lovely living room, sunroom, dining room, and patio all on the first floor here for common use.
For your enjoyment, the basement is a recreational area equipped with a weight bench, pool table, ping pong table, and entertainment center with a large flat screen TV, retro video games, dvds and vhs. There is a large board game collection available for use while you are here as well as a nice variety of books (fiction and non-fiction).
On occasion, I host small gatherings where people eat, play, talk, learn, and I enjoy providing a space for people to meet and share whether I am there participating or not.
Please don't hesitate to contact me for more information. Thanks for looking and good luck in your travels!
Interaction with Guests
I am very available to answer questions through the airbnb messaging system leading up to your reservation.
Depending on my schedule, I may or may not be around during your stay. Don't worry, there are people at the house there to assist you with all of your questions and needs.
You may arrive at any time of night, so please don't worry about waking anyone.
If you want to join in on daily activities like shared meals, farmers' markets, trips to the store, intellectual conversation, a walk around the neighborhood, a park, or main street Newark, we are very social and welcoming.
But if you prefer there be limited interaction, we are very respectful. Please just be honest and forthright so we can accommodate you best!
If you want to know good places to shop, eat, enjoy the weather, etc. just ask! If you need a quick ride somewhere, we can most-likely help you out. We're here for you, and it is our pleasure to host you!
The neighborhood is small, safe, and friendly!
We are located in the heart of the 19808 zip code tucked away in a quiet culdesac, convenient to wilmington, newark, pike creek, and hockessin. About a 30 minute drive to Philly.
The main highway is just a couple minutes walking distance from the house. The bus runs regularly from that intersection northeast into Wilmington or southwest into Newark. There are also plenty of taxi services you can call, car rental companies, and local car share service.
There are plenty of parks, trails, and things to do nearby.
Other Things to Note

**Additional storage space available upon request.
**If this room appears to be booked for one or more of the dates that you'd like to stay, I may be able to accommodate your needs. So don't be shy...shoot me a message to inquire about the possibilities.
Overall, the atmosphere is pretty relaxed around here. I have decided to share my home not for the sole purpose of financial gain but with the hopes that this sharing experience will be good. To facilitate this I have established a few rules to inspire the "pay it forward" mentality:
1. Enjoy yourself!
2. Make sure kitchen and bathroom is clean after each use.
3. If you stay for more than a few days, please try to replace the paper products you've used.
4. Help me to continue to provide these rooms at low prices by helping out when and where you can. I do not employ a cleaning service, so I do appreciate any and all assistance.
I had a great experience in Dan's house. There was plenty of space in the room, and it was comfortable, warm, and quiet. It's at a great location too in a little neighborhood tucked just back from a main road. I'd recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in the area, I know I'll be back.

Friends For Life Michael
The room I was given was spacious and very comfortable for my needs in all the details like, on the other hand, the entire house, impeccably kept by two nice easy-going Dan's friends/guests.
I didn't get to meet Dan in person the whole time, but his friends made it up to it very nicely.
The location is in a quiet neighborhood and pretty handy, it also allows to use public transportation without any problem, if one really would like to.
All in all a very helping solution.
Dan has a marvelous home. Feels like a home. Guest are all comfortable with each other. A big yard an deck. A four season room .
The home is very well kept an the family their are awesome.
The street is quiet. Everything you might need an plenty of choices to eat are around the corner down the street n up the block.
Dan has been a great person to arrange so I can have a,extended stay without having to relocate . This is definitely the home you want to stay when in town. Room is spacious nice closet 2 dressers TV large window desk shelves comfy bed an a good bathroom. Kitchen has everything. Thank you Dan.
My husband (48) stayed here one week for a job training course, and he felt the other houseguests were a younger crowd. Lots of coming and going with different expectations about the hours they keep and the noise level of talking (first floor bedroom is right next to kitchen and entry way).
The set-up is basic, with a bedroom that was fairly private and a bed that was comfortable. The shared bathroom is not as clean as he would have liked. Kitchen is fully equipped, and more like a "boarding house" with communal dining area and shared space in the fridge.
Dan is friendly and communicates promptly via email. Staying longer made the rate even cheaper than first advertised on the website, which helps in these tight economic times.
We stayed three nights and it worked out well. Facilities are adequate. There is a good kitchen but you need to supply your own food. We did not have to share the bathroom since the other guest was not present. Bathroom and bedroom could have been cleaner. Location is convenient to many stores.

I've lived in Delaware my whole life and love the variety of experiences available in Delaware and am an experienced traveler and guide as I have hosted dozens of couchsurfers(travelers) at my previous residence.
This was my mom's house and after she passed, my brother and I inherited it. We live at his house, but there will always be someone friendly and knowledgeable to assist you with your stay, whether it be myself or a close friend.
I am passionate about community and sharing, and some day I plan on moving to a rural intentional community or starting my own. For now, this house serves as a suburban hub where people from all over the world come to stay, cook, share, learn, grow, make friends, and above all enjoy themselves in a safe environment. I encourage you to share meals with each other and hang out in the common areas, but if you prefer to spend your time privately in your room, I respect that as well.
It is my pleasure to welcome guests in my house, and please let me know how I can make your stay more enjoyable! Happy Travels!
