We had a great time in Tulum and can't wait to return! The listing is exactly as described and when we arrived we were greeted by Larisa. The rooms were freshened up for us during the weekdays. We really enjoyed sitting on our balcony and feeling the ocean breeze. There is Mexican coffee provided every morning and you have use of the kitchen if you care to cook. It's more convenient to have a car, but they do have bikes for you to borrow to get around. We definitely recommend =)
Carlos & Larisa's place in Tulum was perfect in every way. They were very sweet and accommodating...even allowing me to stay on the beach and take a shower after check out time. It felt nice staying in a private home on the beach as opposed to one of the resorts.
My one regret was that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to them or the great people that I met during my stay there (I brought my bags to the front to discover my driver already waiting for me. USA transfers was perfect, btw).
I would love to make Tulum a regular destination for me and to stay with Carlos & Larisa each time.
Just one tip to all visitors to the area...bring mosquito repellent!
Casa Tangamanga was in a beautiful location. The rooms are truly rustic and everything is decorated incredibly. The soft white sand beach is just steps from the place which was lovely for a stroll in the moonlight or an afternoon dip. Be advised that during some months there is more seaweed than other times and when we went we experienced a large quantity which some days made it hard to wade through, but you get accustomed quickly. The evenings are quite damp due to all the humidity. The room with the fan was essential because the breeze is so damp, we stuck to the bed in the oceanfront room, which also had no overhead light working, but there were hand held lights that made it ok. We had to move several times due to a water leak and then a mix up in the rooms available, which was inconvenient but Larisa and Carlos were very sweet and apologetic. The coffee in the morning is amazing. Everyone is super nice and friendly. Be advised though the area around here in tulum playa is very expensive. If you are even on a modest budget go to tulum pueblo for awesome food and reasonable prices. Also, this place although beautiful was really rustic. If you want a bit more comfort especially in the humidity, upgrade to a different place. In all, it was a great experience!
Our stay was wonderful. Carlos and Larisa's place is just feet from the beach. We spent our first day walking out the front door barefoot, looking for places to enjoy margaritas up and down the beach.
Larisa made us Mexican Coffee every morning and greeted us with a smile.
I highly recommend this place. It is quaint, romantic and very slowed down. Relaxing is a must!
Awesome place on the beach. Tulum is great. Larisa is very accommodating. Can't wait to return!!!
Carlos and Larisa have an absolutely amazing place, in a perfect location. The Sol room could not have been better. We spent lots of time relaxing on the balcony. The private beachfront was paradise. All within walking distance to some of the best, and most popular restaurants in Tulum.
They are fantastic hosts. Totally hands off, unless you are looking for recommendations for the best places to eat and visit during your stay. They really make it apparent that they want you to have the best experience possible.
My girlfriend and I could not have been happier. We will certainly be visiting Carlos and Larisa again when we make it back to Tulum.
We stayed at Larisa y Carlos for 7 nights, and had a very pleasant and comfortable experience. The location is superb - right on the beach, surrounded by boutique hotels, yoga places and great (though a bit pricey) restaurants. We were able to buy some groceries at the supermarket and make our own meals from time to time. The amenities were sufficient and comfortable, and the open kitchen in the common space is a dream.
Rooms were being cleaned daily and everything is neat and clean.
Carlos and Larisa were great hosts, always available if we needed any help or just wanted to chat, but otherwise out of our way. Carlos took us for a day excursion for a reasonable fee, and showed us a couple of great places to shop for juices and fresh fruits in town.
The only downside was the wedding venue next door, although the weddings happen only 1-2 times a week (Friday and/or Saturday). If you don't mind loud party music going deep into the night, than this shouldn't be a problem. Also, the beds are twin size, so if you are a taller person (like my boyfriend and I are), your feet might be hanging off the bed. However, this didn't bother us too much.

About the Host, Larisa Y Carlos
We are an open minded people that celebrate life meditating, swimming on the beach, on cenotes, doing yoga, reading, riding the bicycles, walking in the beach, cooking, eating, doing massage and taking care of nature. Drinking and dancing.... "Relax"......
Our house is on a walking distance of many restaurants, bar's and hotels. We want our home to be a peaceful and quiet place but due to the closeness of other buissness do expect parties and weddings on weekends.
Our beautiful place is a House, not a Hotel. Expect a very comfortable, clean and rustic place, with friendly people all the time.
We are here to enjoy and share the best of us.
