This is a loft style unit with a full bath, carpeted, a large sunny deck, skylights, garage and a private entrance. You will also find a coffeemaker, toaster, refrigerator, microwave, utensils and dishes in the room.
The unit is located approximately 3.3 miles from Aptos Village, CA (established 1851).
This is a beautiful and tranquil environment in the redwood forest above the morning fog with an abundant population of birds deer and other animals. It is within biking distance to long sand beaches and over 30 miles of hiking and biking trails in the Nisene Marks State Park.
A beautiful setting along the Redwood trees, birds and deer.
Outdoor activities are everywhere! Learn scuba diving, surfing, paddle boarding or even sailing. Monterey Bay is a premier diving location.
In Aptos itself you will find a modest array of shops, restaurants, Yoga studio, Pilates studio and coffee shops including an amazing bakery. Our Saturday Farmer's Market is a little treat in itself.
A quaint local coffee shop called "Norma Jeans" that has everything you would expect, a unique burger joint called "burger" (duh! - great for Gluten free folks), a little local theater that serves organic popcorn and our new BOOKA restaurant in an old Victorian Hotel.
Other upscale eateries are in downtown Santa Cruz (check out Laili!
Santa Cruz is world renowned for its laid back lifestyle and is about 6 miles down the road if you are looking for a little night life. If you are a health conscious traveler you will be delighted to find an abundance of Health Food stores in the area.
For public transportation there are buses 3.3 miles away in Aptos Village which can connect you up to a decent public transit system that will take you all the way to San Francisco fairly efficiently. There is a bike rental shop in the village for getting about in the local area. Its mostly flat and easy to get to beaches and Santa Cruz by bike.
Santa Cruz downtown is an interesting place to just stroll and listen to street musicians and the Board Walk is a favorite place to take a ride on a roller coaster, scream, and get sick eating cotton candy on all the other thrill machines while overlooking the beach and Pacific Ocean. Our son would love to be your personal guide there. But he won't be.
For a more easy going experience, whale watching is popular and the famous Monarch Butterflies at the Natural Bridges State Park are in easy reach. Reasonably priced charter sailing boats are available to explore the wetter side of the area.
And let's not forget the Monterey Sea Aquarium. A MUST for kids and adults alike.
Enjoy waking up to the sounds and feel of nature.

This is a unique property tucked in the Redwoods that offers plenty of privacy at a good price.
I had a lovely and very restful time in Katrin's space. She replied almost instantly to my messages and went out of her way to be warm and welcoming. I enjoyed the spare, peaceful decor and enjoyed the healthy (email hidden)pecially the gluten free granola and organic coffee! She even set out after dark to purchase organic cream and milk for my breakfast.
The area is very rural and somewhat difficult to find after dark, but Katrin's directions were helpful and (website hidden) maps did just fine getting us all the way there. You will definitely need a car during your stay, unless, like me, you are there for the peaceful redwoods, the chirping birds and the solitude. Katrin did a beautiful job of respecting my privacy while making sure I knew she was available for any needs or questions.
For the techies out there, be aware that this is a quiet, tranquil spot with somewhat intermittent wi-fi and no television. It is a real retreat from the rush and bustle, but may not be your cup of tea if you need your full technological "fix." And speaking of tea, there were some lovely organic teas along with the coffee and snacks.
I would return in a heartbeat and can't wait to stay again. Save some time to drive through the pretty little town of Aptos with the quaint shops and coffee houses!
This place was awesome! Tucked up in the woods. Great drive and super quiet. Highly recommended and will stay here again!
A fairly remote location, that is totally worth it for the hospitality alone. Nestled amongst the Redwoods above Aptos, we enjoyed a clean, well kept room, with a comfortable bed. We were pleasantly surprised by the abundance of surprise amenities we found there. Check it out.
We loved staying at Katrin's space. It was a very sweet and cozy spot. She made sure that we felt comfortable and left us some goodies. The place was very clean, spacious an relaxing, creating an environment conducive to studying, watching a movie and having a glass of wine.
The hiking spot is really close by and its simply gorgeous. It's also a quick drive to Pleasure Point (15 to 20 minutes) for those who are interested in wave action.
Overall a great experience that we wouldn't mind repeating. We have already recommended it to some friends who are going down there this week!
Enjoy the beautiful redwood forest!
Big space, clean and comfortable. Separate entrance into room so did not meet host. Surrounded by woods. Slight drive into the mountains but not too far out. Overall very satisfied.
The loft was spacious and clean. The deck is larger than it appears in the photo and has a nice little table and two chairs. There was coffee, milk, really tasty beer and tea in the room - this was a nice touch as these are the things one often misses when away from home.
The only downside is there is no way to cook anything as there is no kitchen. There is a microwave for reheating though, which often is all one needs.
Although I never got to meet Katrin or Seth, they were both very responsive and communication was great! Looking forward to next time already!
Katrin and her family live in the treetops well above the sea shore. Her room is very comfortable and the surrounding area beautiful. The room was set up perfectly for our family of four. There was tons of space and delicious coffee and milk for the morning. Nice sheets and towels and even a board game we played. I was very happy with this booking. It was clean, up-to-date, well appointed, private and spacious in a lovely environment. I would definitely visit again.
We visited on Thanksgiving and found that we were out of luck to find an open gas station. Katrin and her husband were kind enough to share some gas from their personal tank so that we could get back down the hill without fear of running dry. It was nerve-racking to go further into the woods fearing we might not make it in the middle of the night. They really set our mind at ease the next day as we left.
Lieu magnifique, logement confortable avec toute la documentation touristique des environs. Juste problème de connexion wifi et téléphone.
We found Katrin's place to be very clean, quiet and spacious. The deck is larger than it appears in the photo, which is very nice. Like the others mentioned, there was coffee, organic milk, beer and tea in the room. That was a very nice touch. This place is definitely tucked away and up a very steep and narrow road.
