About this listing
A brilliantly located apartment with easy access to all the best places in London, be it tourist hot spots, or your taste in entertainment. You'll have the apartment all to yourself.
Your accommodation at this great basement apartment consists of a spacious living room with kitchenette, a double bedroom and an en-suite wet room.
The living room makes a perfect hang out, with dining table, digital flat screen TV, wifi, DAB radio/ipod dock, and a small double sofa bed ideally suited for one for any extra guests. Here you can also cook to your hearts content (or prep a cheeky take away from the many delicious local restaurants) in the kitchenette. It includes all the modern conveniences such as kettle, toaster, induction hob, microwave/convection oven, washer/dryer and under counter fridge-freezer - although the local grocery store is just across the road...quite literally!
The Double bedroom with its 'novel' wallpaper has a south-facing window, complete with en-suite wet room. There is a hanging rail and two chests of draws for those of you who have packed too much.
The ceiling height is 6'6"/2.04 metres, so if you are super tall and like a good stretch, admittedly it may not be the place for you!
The apartment was first dreamed up when we bought the Georgian townhouse it sits within. Dating back to 1830 it must have seen many an interesting guest, we look forward to you being the next.
The apartment is all yours with your own front door, no sharing required except for with your own party.
All appliances and tech are there for you to use. Unpack your case, hang up your clothes, fill the draws and make yourself at home.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the main house above the apartment, so if you need anything or any recommendations, we are happy to help. We love guests and look forward to welcoming you to our neighborhood. When we are away our neighbour Luke is always on hand to help out, meet and greet.
There's a lot to do locally with a great selection of authentic cuisine and top class pubs in nearby Camberwell. We can highly recommend The Crooked Well for fantastic food, Silk Road, The Tiger or Camberwell Arms for a superb Sunday Roast, and the Stormbird for a plethora of ales to name just a few. Going just minutes on foot the other way you'll find the super cool, super chilled with great coffee and cocktails Cable Bar; Mimi's an Italian deli to die for; and juke box LA dive-bar-esque Brown Derby. How could we almost forget to mention the incredible La Taverna just meters away!! Best pizzas and pastas in town.
Vibrant place to be, Brixton is just a stones throw away, we thoroughly recommend the Ritzy Cinema, and not to be missed Brixton Village, which is best on a Saturday. Back in Oval, Saturday also is the day for our local farmers market where you can indulge in everything from mouth watering chocolate brownies to some unbeatable biltong!
Cricket fans will have an added reason to be in seventh heaven here as Oval is also home to the Kia Oval Cricket Ground and you get from the front door to the game in under ten minutes on foot.
At just a stones throw from central London this super cool apartment is a great base for all your London adventures.
Buses at the front door and Oval tube station (Zone 2 - Northern Line) just 8 minutes walk away (in heels) will take you into the heart of the City's shopping district.
Vauxhall Underground and Overland/'Mainline' train station is a few stops on the bus or a twenty minute walk, once here you can dart right across London or out of town entirely to locations such as the country getaway of Windsor (The Queen's castle is here!)
Kennington tube station (Zone 1 - Northernline) is also 20 minutes walk away, or just one stop on the tube from Oval.
There is free parking on all the surrounding streets, and additionally a 20min loading bay both opposite and at the nearest corner.
Black cabs are easy to hail from the front door, alternatively we're happy to supply you with the numbers to book a mini-cab.
Other Things to Note
Transport to the apartment from all the major airports is easy, especially Heathrow and Gatwick where the express trains are just a bus away which will take you door to door. Full travel instructions are available to you upon booking.
We're pretty easy going but please respect that we live in the house above so no crazy parties, excessively loud music, no smoking indoors and please look after all the furniture and appliances etc...
When you are out and about ensure you shut all doors, windows and shutters fully, enjoy your stay and be nice. That's pretty much the sum of it.
