The name of the house means "beautiful view" – a well-earned name, as all the Orcia valley and the Amiata mountain are spread out below.
Belvedere is surrounded by fields and woods. The houses face a beautiful XVth century Granary and vines and roses climb up their walls; while lavender and rosemary fill the rooms with their scent. Beautifully maintained gardens are reached directly through the houses, and at the far end lies a lovely pool with sunbeds and deckchairs.
The restoration of this house was completed recently and great care was taken to keep the original atmosphere intact. Old terracotta floors were saved whenever possible, and all the ceilings show their original oak beams. The house is spread over several levels, with steps leading up and down from one room to another. Light flows in from every window, either from the garden or the piazzale (square) in front. All ground floor rooms open out into the garden, which has a table and chairs for meals.
