The space
The living room and three bedrooms are on the main floor. Each bedroom has a closet and drawer space. Two bedrooms have queen-size beds, and the third has a full-size bed. Sheets, pillows, and blankets are provided. All mattresses and pillows have hypoallergenic protective covers.

The living room features a 49" ultra-high-def smart TV with a Firestick connected to the fiber optic network. There’s a second TV and Firestick in the first bedroom.

Downstairs, you’ll find the dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. The dining room seats six and includes a dedicated workspace in the corner.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare meals — pots, pans, bakeware, cooking utensils, and tableware. Appliances include a full-size refrigerator, oven, microwave, countertop dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, teapot, and toaster. Pantry items include coffee (enough for 1–2 days), tea, sugar, ketchup, mustard, cooking oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, parsley, cinnamon, basil, and oregano.

The bathroom has a bathtub with shower doors. Bath towels and hand towels are provided, along with a hairdryer, soap, shampoo, and conditioner.

The laundry room includes a full-size washer and dryer. Laundry detergent and dryer sheets are provided.

Two mini-split heat pumps provide heat and A/C for year-round comfort.

Built into the side of a hill, the cottage has a large backyard (fenced for pets!) with seasonal forest/mountain views. The covered front porch features rocking chairs, a loveseat, and side tables — perfect for relaxing. There’s also a brick patio in the backyard with a table for outdoor dining. The parking area is large enough to accommodate 3 cars.

The cottage is about a 10-minute walk along Main Street to the center of town and Mars Hill University. The sidewalk starts about 3-minutes into the walk.

Guest access
You will have full access to the cottage (except for a storage/utility room) and yard. Self-check in via a keypad is provided for your convenience. A new code is created for each visit and is provided prior to your arrival.

Access is via the side stairs that lead directly from the parking area. The stairs directly in front of the house are not used for guest access as they lead only to the mailbox and open onto a blind curve on Main St. The side stairs are a safer and more convenient way to access the cottage.

Other things to note
Please note: There are stairs from the parking area down to the front door, and stairs inside the cottage.

Also, this mountain town is home to plenty of wildlife — don’t be surprised if you see a bear or a snake!
