The Space

Welcome to Sydney and Potts Point, a leisurely 2km walk to Sydney’s CBD or 1 stop on the train from Kings Cross Station.

Potts Point is centrally located near the CBD and is known as “the Paris of Sydney”. Just around the corner from the infamous Kings Cross, Potts Point, anchored by Macleay Street, really is like a little slice of the French capital. Tree-lined streets, gorgeous old art deco buildings, painted-up old beauties smoking at cafés with lapdogs...

Bordered by the 'Cross and Woolloomooloo, Potts Point is a place for foodies or travellers wanting central convenience without being right in the CBD.

Available for accommodation is a private room within my 2 bedroom apartment. Located on vibrant Victoria Street, within a stone’s throw of the apartment are bars, restaurants, nightclubs, bespoke and unique retailers, convenience shops, travel agents, laundromats, pharmacies and two supermarkets and a fresh food market.

Either walk to the City, Paddington or famous Oxford St, all within an easy 10-20 minute walk or walk 250 metres to Kings Cross Station and be in the City in one stop on train's that run every few minutes for only AUD$3.60.

The apartment is one of four located above a café, convenience store and laundromat and while the building is a little aged and worn, the apartment is sunny with great airflow and is very clean and tidy (I am fastidious about cleaning and pride myself on the cleanliness of the apartment). It consists of a main bedroom which I reside in and guest bedroom and includes a small shared bathroom and kitchen and medium living/dining room. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a great meal if you wish. Timber floors and high ceilings as well as great natural light in every room ensures you have a clean and comfortable stay in Sydney without paying exorbitant prices. *Update: There has been one recent review stating the unit is not good value for money, however, my price is purposely set at close to or below the surrounding backpackers rates for a private room including clean linen and towels, with full access to kitchen and living room, without having to share common facilities with dozens of others, so I do believe it is great value for money. I also adjust prices based on demand and season.

The living areas will be shared with myself, but I am only there outside of normal business hours. I am happy to spend time with you assisting in things to do and places to see or will give you complete privacy if so desired. The only thing I ask in return is for visitors to be respectful of my home and also the other residents and families that live within the apartment block.

The bedroom is approximately 3.2m x 3m and has a new queen size bed with excellent quality A.H Beard plush mattress. It also includes side tables, a dresser/drawers and closet.

Once you decide to make a booking, I will apply a 5% discount for stays of 8-14 nights and a 10% discount for stays of 15-28 nights and send a revised offer for you to accept. This price will not be reflected if you send a reservation request, I will need to make a manual "Special Offer" once you request the dates.

I look forward to welcoming you and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

Interaction with Guests

As much or as little as you like, taking into consideration I do work and sometimes need my own personal space as well.

The Neighborhood

The location is in the heart of Potts Point, with dozens of cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk, for all price points. There are several large supermarkets, convenience shops, laundromats (I do not have a laundry, however, there is one next door for as little as $3/load), travel agents, newsagents and of course, the colourful and ecclectic Kings Cross. It is also a 10 minute walk to the Botanic Gardens, where you can walk around the waterfront to the Opera House, The Rocks and the Harbour Bridge.

Getting around

There is the "Hop On Hop Off" bus that stops just 150m from my house on Macleay St and Kings Cross Station is only 250 metres level walk away from the front door for easy access to Bondi Junction and the city, both only 5 minutes by train. If you wish to walk (highly recommended, especially through the Botanic Gardens), it is an easy 20 minute walk to the heart of the City, or 10 minute walk to Darlinghurst and Surry Hills for even more bars, clubs and restaurants.

Other Things to Note

I try to keep my prices comparable or lower than a private room in the surrounding backpackers. My prices may go "On Sale" from time to time if I don't have many bookings for a particular month and I will also seasonally adjust for quieter periods or high demand periods such as Christmas/New Years.

  • it's a perfect location, a nice host and easy to explore the city from this place!!

  • Nick offers a double room, with shared bathroom near Kings Cross station.
Location - 2 min walk to Kings Cross, where you can get a train into the main city in a few stops & can also make a transfer to Circular Quay, to see Harbour Brige / Opera House etc. Trains are frequent & run until quite late in the evening also, so its easy to get back. Walk into town in about 20minutes, or more depending on what area of downtown you are heading to. The area itself wasn't the best, there are lots of hostels on the road & we saw our fair share of druggies and alcoholics, so you just have to be a bit careful.

Host - we didnt spent a great deal of time with Nick because we were out & about most of the day. He is laid back and doesn't bother you during your stay.

House - Nick's place was the most expensive Air BnB we stayed at during out Australia travels, and although the room itself was fine and clean, we had had better experiences in some of the cheaper places we stayed at. The pillows were a bit too thin and we would benefit from a rubbish bin in the bedroom. Also, no breakfast was offered. Having no Wifi in the appartment was also quite annoying, as we like to have the internet to plan our activities for the following day.

Anyway, thanks for having us Nick, all the best. We hope to see you again in the future.

  • We had a great stay at Nick's. The room is very beautiful (just a little noisy) and it's a perfect location to visit Sydney by foot. Nick is a very pleasant and friendly host.

  • Had a great stay at Nick's! Everything was how we expected it to be from the description. Nick was very accommodating and we enjoyed talking with him when we were both at the flat. Great location. I would recommend to my friends they stay with Nick if he's available.

  • Staying at Nick's was a great experience. The location is amazing - everything is easy walking distance. We only used public transport to get from and to the airport. King's Cross station is just 200m away from Nick's. The Gallery of NSW is situated 15 min walking, Opera House 20 min, Circular Quay and Gallery of Contemporary Art is 30 min.
The apartment really is convenient, clean and very comfortable.
Nick is a great host, very friendly and helpful.
It's much better to stay here than any backpackers'...
We would definitely book again with Nick!

  • Nick was very pleasant and friendly host. Room - clean and comfortable. Very good location also, small street, a bit noisy in the morning :-) Most of the attractions in the walking distance, so we used our feet only to explore the city. Highly recommended!

  • Nick is a lovely host! The apartment is great and is in a perfect location with lots of transport and cafes, as well as being in walking distance to most things. I recommend it highly.
