This is my duplex brand new apartment with two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and large living room with 12 foot ceilings and two pull out sofas. Its over 1000 square feet, in the most central part of manhattan
My AIRBNB listing is LEGAL in New York City, it's ok to rent rooms in a townhouse, and not ok to rent them in an apartment building.
Hi, I am renting out my brand new apartment on the border of East Village and Greenwich Village, its a duplex with 2br 2 bath and a pull out couch in the large living room. Its about 1100 sq ft with two roof decks. Its fully furnished with a high end kitchen and bathroom. Its a 3 flight walkup, top two floors of a townhouse, you have the full top two floors. This is by far the hottest area of Manhattan to live at the moment, the subway N R and 6 is 2 1/2 blocks away, F is 5 short blocks away and L is 8.
I have two other listings in the building in case this is booked, check out:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/163814 for the studio,
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/568743 for a 2BR 1Bath
The apt comes with fresh sheets and towels as part of the small cleaning fee.
Bosh and GE appliances in the kitchen, big white leather pull out couch and small brown pull out couch, one br has double, other queen bed and there is an extra mattress.
There is an Apple TV!
Central AC and heat with remote controls for each room. Perfect for visiting NYU (3 blocks away).
Lots of people asking me if its available for certain dates. The calendar in airbnb is accurate, so when it shows availability you can just book it. I know its scary booking stuff on the net but if you want me to give you a call after the booking just specify and I will answer all your questions.
1) Is there onsite laundry in the apartment? Or a nearby laundromat?
Yes small in the apartment, wash fold in the first avenue.
2) I believe the ad said that it's flexible check-in/check-out...is there an absolute time we have to check in by or check out by? In other words, what's the latest we can check in or check out (we arrive in New York at 5:40pm)?
You can leave bags until 9pm in kitchen
3) When does the cleaning lady come? Also, is she optional? Some people are worried about having someone go through their stuff
Before you arrive and after you leave. except when you want to check in early. She might not make it there between when the previous person leaves and you check in. so she will come at 2pm and you have to look at dirty towels for a few hours. If this is a big deal and you do want to check in early let me know when you book it and i will make her come at a precise time, but I don't like fighting with my cleaning lady very much, she has cleaned my place for 7 years. Same applies to when you want to check out late, next people will come and you can leave your bags but please be a little flexible.
4) How may sets of keys will we be given? Can we have four sets since some of us will be going in and out at different times?
I give 2 sets of keys!
5) If something goes wrong (with the plumbing, electrical or whatever) who do we call? Will we be left someone's contact info?
Call me, i have a plumber and carpenter on call. there is a sticker with plumber number on the boilers and water heaters in real emergency. the restaurant on the first floor helps you out.
6) Will you be stopping by the place during our stay? (Some people have read reviews about owners showing up without notice)
7) Is there anything we should be aware of? Maintenance issues, noises, bedbugs, weird neighbors....
Just dont buzz all apts at 2am. there are no weird neighbors or bedbugs, I promise. I work at a hedge fund and rent the place out when I am out of town so no, I don't live with bed bugs.
ALSO FROM THE RECENT REVIEWS: its very important that when you leave, you leave the keys where I tell you to leave them for the next guest. NOT LOCK THEM INSIDE THE APT. I made three sets of keys and left them at different places for this not to happen again, but it did happen with a guest. IF YOU CHECK IN BEFORE 2pm its fine but be prepared that the apt will get cleaned at 2pm. The upside is that even if you check in at 2am I have a way to leave you the keys. This is my personal apartment, I am not a big management company, so if you need any recommendations please let me know, but also, the other apartments in this area rent for $500 a day and have doormen, this building is my building and does not have a doorman so you cannot get absolutely everything at 2am.
ALSO FROM THE LAST REVIEW: WE HAD A HURRICANE IN NEW YORK so internet didn't work for a week and there was a leak. This is all been perfectly fixed now.
ALSO from the one negative review, if you check in after the next person and there is something wrong you can call me or email. People leave windows open and heat full blast and sometimes the boiler auto shuts off because of that etc. Everything is a super easy fix though.
This is East Village, its the best neighborhood in NYC!
Yes, subway is very close.
The house has 2 apartments, don't drive the people below you crazy...
You can check in before 2pm but the cleaning lady hasn't arrived by that time so its dirty.
Bon appartement bien placé pour découvrir New York la porte principale un peu vétusté ne laisse pas présager de l'appartement confortable et spacieux pour un groupe de 5 personnes ..adresse à conserver
The location is fantastic, plenty of nice cafes, bars and restaurants, very lively and fun. Walking distance to West Village, SoHo, Noho, Chelsea, Little Italy and Chinatown. The subway is close (5 min walking).
The place is great for the price and the location. Is very spacious - perfect to 4 people, and great for 6 (our case).
Our only issues is the stairs (it was dificult to manage our heavy and big luggage) - there are three floors of narrow and slightly sloping stairs, the mess on the balconys (was not possible to enjoy they) – and the hot water of the first bathroom (there is no hot water for take a bath on the first bathroom, the other bathroom, on the second floor, was ok).
I think the place is perfect for family and groups of up to 6 people – clean, comfortable and quiet. I would stay there again and would recommend to friends.
This was a perfect place for us. Seith's directions on getting the key, though seemingly a little tricky in writing, were spot on once you got there. The stairs are a bit difficult to manage with luggage but I was there with my wife and daughters so there was a bit of over-packing going on. We had one little challenge with a bed and the TV but Seith handled it promptly and without imposing on our activities.
We found the place to be both spacious and quaint. The neighborhood is in a good location and the place to be if you like Indian food with "curry row" just a down the street. Being close to 2nd Ave made finding transportation easy and you are within walking distance of anything you need.
The townhouse itself was clean and undated. You can tell Seith keeps on top of making sure his guests are comfortable and have what they need. The Hotel W it is not but, but if you want to bring your family to NY and live more like a local than a tourist, I would recommend.
Great apartment in a lively and great neighborhood. Exactly as advertised. Everything was easy checking in, with clear instructions. Only (slight) negative was the spotty WiFi.
The apartment is ridiculously large for NYC. The location is fantastic - there are great cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. I'm vegetarian and there were 3 vegetarian restaurants that were a 5 min walk. This is a great apartment for 6+ guests.
The stairs leading up to the apartment are quite steep and there are many flights - me and my friend are quite fit so it wasn't a problem, but hauling luggage could be a significant endeavor for some.
The apartment doesn't look like a movie set like the pictures suggest, but it is clean.
The kitchen has pots and pans and we were able to make breakfast for ourselves :)
I'd definitely book this place on my next visit to NYC.
Keith was great to work with throughout. The apartment does not look like the one portrayed in the photo. When I arrived, the common area in the desccription was disgusting. Food and trash everywhere. I imagine from the tenants on that floor. Once in the apartment, it looked like it was in the middle of a renovation. Strong paint smell. Couch destroyed and full of food particles in the creases, and dirty. The furniture in the picture looks sleek and clean. The reality is not so. The kitchen door to the "balcony" did not lock. It was propped shut with chairs. Mold stains around light fixtures; light bulbs out or not the same wattage (weird feeling); furniture and boxes, repair tools stashed in every corner; tv did not work properly (bad wifi signal); furniture overall like it was picked up from various discard locations; closet doors beat up and missing pieces; water radiator leaking water in bathroom; window vertical blind pieces on the floor in main bedroom. This flat has a lot of potential to be very beautiful and sleek. The location is excellent with lots of restaurants, shops, markets and subway station close by. As is now, unless you are in you 20's and not caring where you pass out, this is not the place to stay. Spent one night there because it was too late to move and went to a hotel, which was the same price and much more comfortable. I do hope this place is renovated and finished soon. It could be a gem in the West village.
Thanks for you feedback. We changed the couch, and fixed the balcony door. We also rearranged the laundry/luggage area so there is more room on the first floor to leave bags and food. We had just repainted the place. Please see the new photos. The place sometimes gets somewhat destroyed by tenants, and it looks like you checked in after such a party. Also you checked in at 10pm so I could not do anything that day. Next day I came and fixed the broken items. You also wrote this review because you wanted a full refund from Airbnb. You opened my storage closet and took pictures inside and sent them to Airbnb to prove that the place was a mess and that there were tools lying around, which is not true. I had to send airbnb photos showing the storage closet closed and storage closet open and they ended up charging you for the cancellation. There is no mold or mismatched light bulbs, thats just made up. I have two wifi connections, main one and backup, one verizon the other time warner, both at maximum speeds. The only reason this gets slow is when everyone is on bittorrent. Please text me if the wifi is slow and I can reset the router/password.
This 4th floor apartment is tremendously well located, in the thriving East Village with a 3 minutes walk to the subway. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 complete baths so it is quite spacious. However, it is not as modern and clean as the pictures were showing, and the set-up to go up there is awkward, with narrow stairs (difficult to access with large luggages), and a common kitchen on the 2nd floor that we need to go through. The back door to the private balcony was broken and, although it was not a threat to our security, it was cold (February).
