This was an incredibly special stay. We arrived to wine and homemade soup on the stove. The house is old and funky and beautiful in all the best ways. And then in the morning, Lee made us a delicious breakfast and coffee to enjoy in the backyard - which has so many crafted nooks and crannies: a long table with chandeliers hanging from the tree branches, chairs set up around fire pits, the garden with trees planted in honor of her grandchildren, the chickens. As others have mentioned, Lee herself makes the whole visit a delight. I felt like we were leaving a friend as we drove off in the morning (backseat full of found avocados fallen from the trees.) Thank you Lee!
Lee's place is one of a kind!
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Rustic Avocado Ranch for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The night of our arrival Lee was hosting a hoe down fundraiser behind the house for a nearby Westmont student which we were welcome to, and did, join; it sort of felt like a welcoming party for us to be honest. There was a personalized chalk board on the front door welcoming us into the house and our names were on the bedroom door letting us know where to stay along with who was in each of the other rooms.
The home was built in 1870, if I remember correctly, with high ceilings and a very comfortable bed. The entire home had a very cozy feeling. Each morning when we awoke there was breakfast waiting for us. The mornings Lee was there she cooked for us and the mornings she wasn't we were free to use the kitchen as we pleased and make breakfast for ourselves with fresh eggs gathered that morning from her chicken coop in the backyard. I've never had eggs more fresh. A self professed coffee snob, Lee also serves some delicious pour-over coffee each morning. Her family that was around, but not often seen, was also very friendly and helped keep fresh towels in the bathroom and clean dishes in the kitchen.
The ranch is just 2 minutes from US101 and only 10 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara. This more than worth the drive if you're looking for places in Santa Barbara itself. When enjoyed it so much that we spent one full day just lounging around on the ranch.
There are not enough positive things that I can say about the experience and my girlfriend and I are already thinking of when we'd like to return.
Lee's place is delightful! We had a wonderful stay in her beautiful, whimsical home. The Rustic Avocado Ranch is steeped in history and you can feel it in every corner of the property. We enjoyed padding through the avocado trees looking for fallen fruit, saying good morning to the chickens, and sleeping on that very comfortable bed. Lee is a natural host and we felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. We highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place that is full of love and soul!
What a delightful experience. A real one of a kind place. I LOVED it. Thank you LEE.
I stayed at the Rustic Avocado Ranch for a weekend with my girlfriend and it was a really amazing experience. Lee is super friendly and helpful and gave us great advice on nearby hikes, dining and surfing.
The place is clean, cosy and the fireplace in the yard is a great bonus. We would come visit again!
The Rustic Avocado Ranch is a very special place. Not only is it incredibly beautiful, warm, and cozy, but Lee is an exceptional hostess, even in her absence. She found out that she was not going to be able to be around while we stayed, but she made everything so easy for us. On a big chalkboard sign on the door she welcomed us by name. Her home is filled with family photos, crafts and other rustic details, and it feels more like you are staying with a close friend than with someone you've never met. Her son, Alex, was incredibly helpful and even went to fetch bikes for us to take into town. We didn't expect to spend so much time there, but fell in love with Lee's home and the town of Carpinteria. Not to mention, the REMARKABLY comfortable bed!!! What a wonderful experience, we just hope that we can actually meet someday!
We loved it. Can't wait to come back. Thanks Lee. You are great
Lee is one of the sweetest hosts you'll ever meet! I brought my wife here for a little get away and loved this place. Rustic, quaint, charming, whatever you want to call it... Her home is wonderful! And at Christmas she really goes all out with the decorations! I took some pictures for her, so hopefully they'll end up here eventually.
In the winter, the house is a bit cold, but nothing I couldn't handle. Sad we had to leave early when one of our kids started feeling ill at grandma's house. This one is definitely worth a visit!
Lee was wonderful! The house is so cute and our bed was really comfy.
I very much enjoyed my stay with Lee and her family. They helped me feel right at home. Lee goes out of her way to make your stay extra special, including sending me off with a bag of avocados straight from the orchard. I also very much appreciated their kind-heartedness as they graciously assisted me with a bit of car trouble.
