Enjoy some relaxation at our waterfront cottage - soak up sun on the waterfront deck, find excellent fishing, roast some marshmallows, or do them all!
The cottage is located on Scott’s Island on the beautiful Clear Lake which is along the historic Rideau Canal between Chaffey's and Newboro Locks.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms each with a double bed, as well as two double pull-out sofas, so it easily sleeps 8. However, the property offers plenty of room if you wanted to pitch a tent.
The rental includes use of the following:
– sun deck & private dock
– 16 ft fishing boat w/ an electric start motor, great for fishing on the five connected lakes
– raft for swimming & paddle boat for exploring the lake
– fire pit for roasting marshmallows
– gas BBQ, picnic table & patio set
Not Included in the rental:
– personal toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, etc.)
– drinking water
Guests will have full access to the cottage and cottage property including a waterfront sundeck and fire pit.
Interaction with guests
Bruce will meet you at the boathouse at check-in, bring you over to the cottage and show you around. Should any problems arise, we will be available by phone.
Other things to note
The tap water at the cottage is lake water and should only be used for washing - it cannot be drank. Please bring bottled water for drinking.
The cottage kitchen is equipped with a fridge (top half freezer), stove, microwave, pots & pans, dishes, and cutlery. As well as, a toaster, crock pot, hot air popcorn machine, blender and mixer.
We have a regular coffee machine and a Keurig machine. Note: only bottled water can be used in the coffee machines
Check-in on Saturday only, with some exception. Minimum 7 night stay - shorter/weekend rentals available closer to rental dates. There is no smoking in the cottage. Pets are allowed, but approval is required.
The fishing boat included with the rental will come equipped with 4 adult life jackets, 2 oars and a boat safety kit. You will need to provide any additional life jackets for children or additional adults. By using the boat, you agree to comply with the Boating Safety Regulations set out by Fisheries and Ocean Canada. At least one adult in your party must have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card in order to drive the boat.
The boat will be provided with a full tank of gas. At the end of the rental, it is expected the boat will be returned with a full tank of gas. Gas can be obtained nearby, from Chaffey's Locks.
Life jackets must be worn while operating the paddle boat. When not in use, the paddle boat is to be tied up and removed out of the water. Bruce will show you where on the day of arrival. Caution is to be used when taking the paddle boat out of the water to not damage the rudder.
Provided a burn ban is not in effect, all garbage must be burnt in the burn barrel during the evening (please make sure to not burn any metal or plastic). All recyclables and garbage that you do not burn must be taken out with you upon departure.
