About this listing
Our bachelor suite with private bath and micro kitchen is ideal for a couple or a small family.
It's attached to the main house but you have your own private entrance and can come and go as you please.
The place stays pleasant in the summer heat without air-conditioning.
The suite has two queen sized beds. One is a day bed. It can be pulled out into a queen with two separate single mattresses. You loose some floor space once the bed is pulled out and there's only a narrow gap left between the two beds. This might seem kind of obvious, but I've experienced that not everybody considers this.
The room is suitable for up to 4 and spacious (in my opinion) for up to 3 people, it's roughly 220 sf total.
The floor is tiled, with a couple of rugs.
Kids under the age of 16 stay for free with at least one paying adult. A cot for infants can be provided.
The house is located in a residential neighbourhood between the down town and the beach at Lakeside Park. It's an around 15-20 minute walk either way, through a residential neighbourhood.
We might be able to pick you up from the Greyhound bus stop or Castlegar airport for a small fee.
We added a micro kitchen for your convenience. It is tiny with a counter top induction cook top, a toaster oven and microwave. There is also a k'cup coffee maker, kettle, toaster, crock pot and so on. The fridge is located a step away from your door in a storage area, so you won't have to listen to it's compressor during the night. It can be moved inside the room for people who prefer that and stay longer than a night. So you're good for some light cooking, for more elaborate meals you'd have to use our kitchen in the main house, please inquire.
There is a possibility to rent a bike or our 4 person canoe.
If you need anything else (like kids toys, an ironing board, beach towels, anything along those lines) please ask.
Nelson is a beautiful town, we'd like you to enjoy your stay.
The space we're providing is self contained. However we don't limit guest access to the room. We provide storage in our basement and open up our house to people who have the time, interest and flexibility to join in.
Interaction with Guests
Up to you really, but I guess it would also depend on our schedule and how busy life is at the time.
We have street parking only, but it's a quiet cull-de-sac and there's always space available.
The bus stop for the city bus is just around the corner on Cottonwood St. It's maybe 100 meters from the house.
We request that no one smokes inside the house please.
Also please don't store bikes or skis/snowboards inside your room.
Please ask if storage is required. We don't mind to share our basement.
Please ensure you book for the right amount of guests at the time of booking so we put out the right amount of linen etc.
I traveled the world in my twenties and now enjoy the world coming to me. It's what I always wanted.
I try to live sustainable, as low impact as I can and the simple, no frills style is also how I like to travel.
I'm interested in learning from others and sharing ideas.
