At The Real McCoy, you’re not just booking a vacation home. You’re stepping into the legacy and home of one of Prohibition’s most legendary figures.

In the 1920s, William “Bill” McCoy became known as the “King of Rum Row.” From his schooner anchored off the Florida coast, he smuggled only top-quality liquor while others watered theirs down. His commitment to selling the genuine article gave rise to the phrase “the real McCoy,” still used today to mean authentic and true.

The waters directly across from this home were part of McCoy’s route. Ships once anchored here just beyond U.S. jurisdiction, their cargo ferried ashore by smaller boats. From the wraparound deck, you’ll see the same views McCoy once knew — the shimmering Intracoastal tied to his daring adventures.

Today, you can sip coffee where McCoy may have watched for patrol boats, share stories by the fire pit as schooners once sailed by, or raise a glass at sunset in a toast to the man who lived by his own rules.
