Our family cabin is "the last stop" in our neighborhood of family cabins, even though it's officially on a "circle"...what I mean is, if you're looking for secluded, you've come to the right place. We're off the beaten path to Hiwassee Lake. :)
Even though it's secluded, the cabin is very modern and comfortable. There's two bedrooms (one master with a double bed and its own bathroom and the second has two beds: a double and a single). The living room is cozy but spacious, with a wood-burning stove, a TV for the classic VHS collection- why not?, and plenty of games for non-electronic entertainment. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up whatever you like, and a table for six for your family meal. Downstairs, a recreation room has a ping-pong table, a dart board, and a HDTV with HDDirectTV and an X-Box 360 (bring your games, but sorry no X-Box Live).
Three rooms mentioned are private, use of the kitchen, dining room, and living room. You are welcome to use the rec room and the washer and dryer located downstairs (One room is located downstairs as well).
We are very friendly, and are available to answer any questions that you may have about local attractions, restaurants, and fun, outdoor places nearby. So give us a call anytime or shoot us an e-mail. Most of your questions are already answered for you in the white binder located on the kitchen breakfast bar counter top.
Our neighborhood is a collection of family cabins in the woods, but our cabin is set back in the rear of a "development" that was never completed, so our closest neighbors are all closer together on the ridge above us- we're on the side of the mountain tucked into the woods.
You will definitely need your own car to get here and go see local attractions. We have a private driveway with plenty of parking space. Be sure to have a GPS on your phone or in your car!
Two mountain bikes are available for you to use in the washer and dryer room. Please be sure to wash off the tires of any mud or dirt before returning inside. Please write in our guest book that lives on the kitchen bar.
NOTE: Western NC is home to the Southern Unstriped Scorpion. It grows up to one inch in length, and is about as poisonous as a bee sting. They prefer to live outdoors and avoid people, but we have seen them in the house. They are active at night, so please don't walk around barefooted at night, and keep your bed from touching the wall. Insecticides are not very effective against scorpions (nor are they healthy for us), so we just practice removal of their bodies after we swat them with a flip-flop.
"Peace of the Woods" is aptly named! This cozy getaway, deep in the forest, provides a refuge "far from the madding crowd." The cabin was clean, well appointed, warm and very comfortable. It's as quiet as you want it to be! We took advantage of several near-by hiking trails and discovered lots more to do than we had time for. Sean and Melisa are excellent hosts: they were readily available to answer questions and pleasant and easy to communicate with. Thanks for a great stay!
This place is unbelievable. For two cooks who rarely get time off, even our one night stay at Sean and Melissa's Peace of the Woods was unforgettable. It is perfectly nestled away at the end of a dirt road on the side of a mountain right out of a story book. The views are gorgeous, the house is warm and comfortable, and although the hosts were not at home, their hospitality was present. It was just what we needed. It is also worth mentioning that these two hosts are incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and patiently waited while we wavered about spending another night. Couldn't ask for more.
Our trip to the cabin was such a wonderful get away! The cabin itself was cozy and welcoming and we had a blast hiking down to the lake. Sean and Melisa were wonderful to work with - incredibly responsive and accommodating. Thank you so much again! :)
If you want a quiet escape from the daily grind, this is the place for you! Sean and Melisa were quick with questions and very accommodating for last minute requests. They provided very helpful directions to their secluded cabin, and then a great notebook filled with local attractions and activities. The cabin was in great condition and perfect for our family. Although they provide plenty of entertainment like multiple TVs, video games, and movies, there is plenty to do there to unwind away from electronics. We most enjoyed having a fire going while cooking and putting together puzzles available at the cabin, playing games of ping pong, and drinking coffee on the beautiful wrap around porch. It is so quiet, it is almost unnerving, but a great reprieve from the stresses of normal life. Plus there is plenty to explore around the property!
The cabin was perfect for our Valentine's getaway. Sean and Melissa had a fire pre-made for us, ready to light. We drove about 45 minutes to a great hike on Saturday, and started up a fire again that night. We would definitely consider going back and bringing friends to the spacious cabin!
A great cabin for any occasion. Loved our stay!! :)
Place was even better than described. Clean, large and quiet. Loved the ping pong table/XBox/hiking to the creek.
Sean and Melisa were ideal owners.
If you like heavy traffic and street noises...this isn't the spot for you. However, if you like peace in the woods then Sean & Melisa's cabin is a wonderful respite. Especially enjoyed how the sunrise comes into the expansive glass doors of the Master on the main level.
The place is great. Melisa is excellent and quick to communicate with. Overall great stay. Thanks.
The cabin is really in the woods which is just perfect for a getaway in nature. I went there with a group of friends and we were just so happy to find a place like this...
Melissa and Sean were fantastic hosts. We came to enjoy a weekend in the woods and it was a great and fun experience. From the freshly baked apple pies, the impromptu ping ping tournament, warm camaraderie of new friends and the beauty of the surroundings, we rate our stay as a A++. Communication was great. They were very accommodative and patient with all our questions and requests. Their place in the woods is private, clean and very very enjoyable. We hope to be able to come back to visit them soon!
