Our family cabin is Modern and Rustic. The Cabin sits on 7 acres of land, and is neighbor to Wildlife game lands. If you're looking for secluded, but with Wi-Fi and ping pong, you've come to the right place. Bring your camping gear for the kids!
Even though it's secluded, the cabin is very modern and comfortable. There's two bedrooms (one master with a double bed and its own bathroom and the second has two beds: a double and a single). The living room is cozy but spacious, with a wood-burning stove, a TV for the classic VHS collection- why not?, and plenty of games for non-electronic entertainment. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up whatever you like, and a table for six for your family meal. Downstairs, a recreation room has a ping-pong table, stereo, and a dart board!
Peace of the Woods sits on 7 acres of land, you have direct access to the Nantahala National forest, three rooms, full kitchen, dining room, rec room, laundry room, and living room. You are welcome to use anything in the cabin. Please be sure to clean what you use and return it to where you found it please :)
Interaction with Guests
We are very friendly, and are available to answer any questions that you may have about local attractions, restaurants, and fun, outdoor places nearby. So give us a call/text/e-mail anytime. Most of your questions are already answered for you in the white binder located on the kitchen breakfast bar counter top.
Our neighborhood is a collection of family cabins in the woods, but our cabin is set back in the rear of a "development" that was never completed, so our closest neighbors are all closer together on the ridge above us- we're on the side of the mountain tucked into the woods.
You will definitely need your own car to get here and go see local attractions. We have a private driveway with plenty of parking space. Be sure to have a GPS on your phone or in your car!
Other Things to Note
Two mountain bikes are available for you to use in the washer and dryer room. Please be sure to wash off the tires of any mud or dirt before returning inside. Please write in our guest book that lives on the kitchen bar.
NOTE: Western NC is home to the Southern Unstriped Scorpion. It grows up to one inch in length, and is about as poisonous as a bee sting. They prefer to live outdoors and avoid people, but we have seen them in the house. They are active at night, so please don't walk around barefooted at night, and keep your bed from touching the wall. Insecticides are not very effective against scorpions (nor are they healthy for us), so we just practice removal of their bodies after we swat them with a flip-flop.
1.)Please enjoy your stay. If you need something, just ask!
2.)Clean up after yourself. You’re welcome to use anything in the cabin, just put it away or back where you got it so that it looks how you found it!
3.)Please try to conserve water. We have a well, but the world’s clean water resources are limited. Turn it off if you aren’t using it.
4.)That said, please also try to conserve electricity. Turn off the light when you leave a room.
Sean and Melisa are the most responsive hosts I've ever dealt with. All of my questions were answered promptly and fully. My sisters and I felt right at home in their spacious Peace of the Woods cabin. We did avoid the lower level after running into a few scorpions, but we had a fabulous time cooking in the big kitchen, watching Homeward Bound on the couch, and exploring the trails close by.
I would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone looking to get away and relax.
We had a great weekend getaway at Sean and Melisa's cabin. It's very comfortable, and there was plenty of room for our family of three. Two families could stay here easily. We loved the ping pong, croquet, and board games, and especially the rocking chairs on the wrap-around deck, the wood burning stove, and the fire ring. The kitchen was fully stocked, which made cooking easy. The oval garden tub was relaxing for me and fun for our son. I didn't care for the strongly perfumed scents on the linens and the air fresheners in front of the vent, but I'm particularly sensitive to smells and some people do enjoy those perfumes. Good isolated location that was easy to find, and accessing the key/cabin was a breeze. Sean and Melisa were very responsive to our emailed questions about good hikes from the cabin. We took a casual walk down to Persimmon Lake, which our son enjoyed visiting very much, and on our way home we stopped in Blue Ridge for a lovely hike by a waterfall. Fun weekend getaway. Thanks!
The house was well-equipped and very comfortable for my husband and me. We would love to return in the warmer months with family to enjoy even more what the area has to offer!
Sean and Melissa were very attentive to all our needs at this cabin. It was a wonderful experience and a great place to spend time with your family or friends. The place was exactly as described and the pictures were very accurate. The cabin was clean and cozy and the rec room was very spacious. My family and I drove up to the smokey mountains to ski and it was a far drive but so worth it! Nonetheless, I enjoyed my stay at this cabin very much and strongly recommend.
We really liked it a lot. We really enjoyed the blues CDs provided by our hosts. Plenty of room for the six of us. Internet access was excellent. We were very comfortable.
Sean and Melisa were very nice and responsive and made us feel comfortable right from the first conversation. The house was perfect. Just as described. Its very quiet out there. The house was well stocked, clean and well maintained. We had a great time!
Excellent location exactly as described, comfortable and easy for our quick get-away. Highly recommended.

*Hollywood, FL. (Just outside of Miami very safe area) "Peace of the Hollywoods"
*Murphy, NC. (About an hour and a half North of Atlanta) "Peace of the Woods"
We currently have two Airbnb locations that contain multiple listings. Our first Airbnb is in Murphy, North Carolina, named "Peace of the Woods" and was started by Sean's father Steve about 17 years ago.
Our (Sean&Melisa) future resort is beautifully located near downtown Hollywood, and affectionately named "Peace of the Hollywoods" by myself (Sean).
I(Sean) have been born and raised in South Florida. I can tell you out of all of the places I have ever lived in South Florida, Hollywood is the safest, friendliest, most fun place to be in all of South Florida. We are close enough to I-95 that you can reach anywhere worth driving to in 30 minutes or less, BUT far enough away from all of the I-95 traffic. We are walking distance to downtown Hollywood, and the Hollywood Trolley's first stop!!! The Hollywood Trolley takes you down to the beach, up and down the coast for only $1, so basically we are walking distance form over 50 amazing restaurants and beautiful Hollywood beach!!! We love it here :)
If Hollywood is your destination, we recommend checking out our pages that contain up to date inside info on what is going on around our B&Bs... Also groupon for HUGE discounted rates on some really amazing adventures available to you while you are our guests. Be sure to check out our online guide on Airbnb!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR BUSINESS, WE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCOMMODATE YOU TO OUR GREATEST POTENTIAL!!!
A little history: We have been hosting guests through Airbnb since 2012. Before we created the Cabin & Cottage, we were managing stays on the Earth N Us farm in Little River Miami. It is/was a great success and we learned a lot through our hard work, and guests invaluable input.
We felt that it was time to venture out on our own, and begin to build something very special for our family.
Peace of the Woods &
Peace of the Hollywoods
We have met many incredible people along the way, people we would proudly call family, and we have learned so much... Guests, friends, and family have taught us so much about what it takes to be great at what we love.
We can't wait to meet you all!
