Tangamanga was everything we'd hoped for in our first visit to the Yucatan Peninsula. We were looking for relaxation but also activities; peace but also nearby bars and restaurants; and simplicity but also a shower and somewhere to charge the phone! Happily, Tulum isn't a party town like, say, Cancun or Ibiza so if that's what you're looking for, you're in the wrong place. What it does have is a massive coral reef, beautiful beaches, enormous underground caverns and spectacular Mayan ruins. At Casa Tangamanga, the hosts and Norma are warm and helpful, offering many tips, even lending us fins and bicycles. The cabins have mosquito nets which are way more useful than windows. You'll appreciate the cool breeze off the sea and the waves splashing against the nearby beach when you're getting to sleep. The cabins are as basic as the description suggests but offer a separate toilet, washbasin and shower. There's a shared 'open-plan' kitchen/dining area surrounded by hammocks and coconut palms. The beach is 50m away and days before we arrived, a turtle had laid and buried her 100+ eggs just in front of the cabins - amazing!
Beautiful room with a great view. There was a great constant breeze that came straight through the window that made it really pleasant. Host was great. The property also has a communal kitchen which is very useful and there is a large supermarket a few km away (driving but there are also a lot of taxis so it is easy to get around). We were travelling with a 2 year old and the room and property was perfect for him and very safe.
Casa de Larissa y Carlos was wonderful! The privacy and location of the property was awesome- right across from some of the best restaurants on the strip. Carlos himself was an excellent host and felt like family after four days. He gave us the space we needed but answered any questions we had immediately and to best of his ability. He also took us on a day long excursion in his van to Akumal bay and Dos Ojos Cenotes for a small fee. The property was communal but not in a way that makes introverts uncomfortable more like an apartment setting. Carlos also had two cruiser bikes available to us at any time which we used to bike to the mayan ruins and back! Our room was exactly what we needed and had a nice view of the green jungle and blue waves in the distance. If we had to change anything it would be the size of the bed, we were a little too tall for the twin size bed and found our feet would hang off the edge allowing the mosquito net to rise and let the relentless little guys in. Other than that we had no issues. We would definitely come back to stay here in the future and I will be recommending this beautiful rental!
Larisa and Carlos were amazing hosts. They were very helpful with any questions we had. Their place is gorgeous, right on the beach, with beautiful gardens all around the property. 4 of us shared the Luna room and it was comfortable for 3 adults and 1 child. There is a breeze that comes off the sea that is very cooling. I would return to this spot in a heartbeat.
We absolutely loved staying here!! Tulum beach was a hidden oasis with lots to explore, great restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere. We really likes staying in Carlos and Larisa's hut - we were right off the beach it felt like we were right in nature. They were extremely gracious hosts, even making our beds when we left for the day. I'd highly recommend it!
