About this listing
Enjoy your Charleston stay in a traditional Charleston Single home on Johns Island only 9 miles from the historic downtown Charleston. Enjoy the quiet of Johns Island with easy access to all the greatness that the low country has to offer.
I have nice room with a comfortable king size bed and private bath in the hall. The room has a small TV and chair to relax. Just across the hall is access to the upstairs Piazza which is yours to enjoy during your stay. We are 9 miles from from downtown Charleston which is about a 20 minute beautiful drive. And we are a little less than 13 miles to Folly Beach. Johns Island itself is a beautiful quiet island community. On Johns Island we have the Angel Oak tree and America's only Tea Plantation, the Charleston Tea Plantation. You can visit both while you are here on Johns Island. We offer a very comfortable home with true southern hospitality for you to really enjoy Charleston.
Our home is a quiet place where my partner Rick and I live with our cat, a Beagle and a Lhasa Apso mix. My cat Gus is an older cat (13 years) that does not go into the quest bedroom at all and is very friendly. He will rub on you and showcase that true southern politeness. Cleatus my beagle is also very friendly and will become your pal during your stay and Angel you will just adore. But all the animals will leave you alone once you are welcomed in to our home.
You will have access to the entire Home including the kitchen and refrigerator if needed. Wifi is also available and cable is available in the living room.
Interaction with Guests
I work from home and will be around during the day in my office. We can be as interactive as any guest would like us to be in that we can show the guests Charleston or can provide suggestions and directions as needed.
Please note that although the map shows the location of my house to be in downtown Charleston, I'm actually located on Johns Island which is about a 15-20 min drive to the downtown area. It's a very beautiful and easy drive, really only two turns. I wanted to put this note out there so that there is no confusion.
Our stay at Southern Charm couldn't have been better. Rick was extremely nice and was more than happy to give us wonderful recommendations about restaurants, locations, and activities, which made our stay all the better.
The house was beautiful as well as immaculately clean. Rick even put out a small spread for breakfast each morning. The animals at the residence could not have been sweeter.
Overall, our stay at "Southern Charm" was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston.
This was my first AirBNB experience and the Rick's made it awesome. Unfortunately this was a work trip for me. I arrived late but they were both cordial and happy to meet me. I had an early day the next day so they made sure to have the coffee prepped, a bagel ready, and peanut butter which are my only morning requirements. They were able to give me places to run and had no problem when I took over their dinning room with a work project until midnight my second night their. The pets definitely made my late work hours more fun. The house is in a great neighborhood and the home is very comfortable and relaxing.
Rick and Rick were fantastic hosts! They went above and beyond to make our weekend special and we cannot thank them enough! The house itself was beautiful inside and out. The room was very clean and comfortable, it was very welcoming. I loved the way they had the house decorated too! They also have the sweetest pets (Cleatus, Angel, and Gus) who will welcome you with open arms (paws).
They are located on Johns Island which is only about 15 minutes to Downtown Charleston. It was about 10-15 minutes to Folly Beach and about 20-30 minutes to Kiawah Island Beach (which is a lot more secluded and relaxing. We practically had the entire beach to ourselves!). The Johns Island area was stunning with its tree lined streets and Spanish moss hanging down. Just down the street is a beautiful lake that you can walk to and watch the sunset. Also nearby is a delicious pizza place called Ji Pizza.
My boyfriend and I got engaged this weekend in Charleston and Rick was so gracious to coordinate with my boyfriend and help him surprise me at Drayton Hall, he even drove us there!
I could not have asked for a better weekend nor better hosts! It was such a pleasure staying with them and I highly recommend them to everyone! Thank you again Rick and Rick for the wonderful weekend!
Southern Charm is an awesome place. Rick and Rick are just great hosts. It's like being home. The room and the house are decorated with a lot of taste. You have a balcony, your own bathroom, and are more than welcome to share some time with the guys in the living room.
Also, if you ask, Rick will tell you all you want know about Charleston and the history of the South.
I had a great time and won't forget you guys ! Rick and Rick just Rock !
The home is absolutely perfect. They have such an eye for detail and I learned that one of my hosts actually owns a cleaning business, which would explain their attention to overall cleanliness. I was very comfortable here, in fact, it was one of the best nights of sleep I'd had in awhile. The location is pretty fantastic, also. Pretty close to Folly Beach and a fairly direct route into downtown Charleston. Rick and Rick were so friendly and helpful. They even put out a breakfast spread for me in the morning. If I'm ever back in Charleston, I wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again.
Rick and Rick are the absolute best hosts! Their home is gorgeous, and incredibly comfortable (that bed was insanity, and I want it in my life), and they made a beautiful breakfast spread in the morning. They had perfect suggestions for local restaurants and sights, and made the whole experience feel like home.
Thanks Rick, we enjoyed our stay a lot! You're a great host. The apartment was very nice and clean . He was helpful us all the time and every morning we had a fantastic breakfast on backyard. Absolutely Recommended!
About the Host, Rick
We (Rick and Rick) live in Charleston, love the beach, good food, cooking, movies, walks, and HISTORY. I work for a technology non profit called TechSoup Global. We are working to make the world a better place through technology. And Rick owns his own cleaning business. We love to travel the U.S. and particularly love history and historical places which is what brought me to Charleston and what keeps me here. We are very easy going guys that love to socialize and entertain and we get along with most anyone.
