Enjoy your Charleston stay in a traditional Charleston Single home on Johns Island only 9 miles from the historic downtown Charleston and 11 miles to Folly Beach. Enjoy the quiet of Johns Island with easy access to all the greatness that the low country has to offer.

The space

I have nice room with a comfortable Queen size bed and private bath in the hall. The room has a chair to relax and just across the hall is access to the upstairs Piazza which is yours to enjoy during your stay. My home is 9 miles from downtown Charleston which is about a 20 minute beautiful drive as well as 11 miles to Folly Beach. Johns Island itself is a beautiful quiet island community. On the Island we have the Angel Oak tree and America's only Tea Plantation, the Charleston Tea Plantation. You can visit both while you are here on Johns Island. I offer a very comfortable home with true southern hospitality for you to really enjoy Charleston.

My home is a quiet place where I live with my 17 year old cat Gus, and a great Beagle named Cleatus. My cat Gus does not go into the quest bedroom at all and is very friendly. He will rub on you and showcase that true southern politeness. Cleatus is also very friendly and will become your pal during your stay. But both animals will leave you alone once you are welcomed in to our home.

Guest access

You will have access to the entire Home including the kitchen and refrigerator if needed. Wifi is also available and cable is available in the living room.

Interaction with guests

I work from home and will be around during the day in my office. I can be as interactive as any guest would like me to be in that I can show the guests Charleston or can provide suggestions and directions as needed.

Other things to note

I serve up Bagels Fruit, Juice and coffee/tea each morning for you to enjoy.

Location was in a nice quiet neighborhood with friendly people & pets. Rick was out of town, but made sure someone was in the house with us every night which made us feel more comfortable. His dogs & cats were quiet entertaining. Downtown was a short easy drive away and we would love to come back & stay longer next time.

This was a very comfortable place to be. Rick is an excellent host: hospitable, congenial, fun to be around, and very respectful of the guests privacy. The location was perfect for us as it was basically mid-way between Folly Beach and Kiawah/Seabrook Islands, destinations we were interested in. And the drive to Charleston's downtown was easy.

Rick is a wonderful host - very friendly and eager to answer any questions you might have regarding the area (he gave some great recommendations regarding food!) His home was beautifully decorated and immaculate. Adding to the sense of welcome and home were his animals: Cletus the beagle, Gus the Russian blue cat, and Oliver the orange Tabby, all of whom were extremely friendly and helped this couple of animal lovers feel right at home. The room and bathroom were spacious and wonderfully decorated, with bright, happy colors in the bedroom and warm colors in the bathroom. The window attached to the bedroom was positioned just perfectly that at no point during the day would you need to use any artificial lights - a pleasantly sunny room without being overwhelming should you have the desire to take a midday nap. The upstairs piazza offered a very nice view of the neighborhood, a wonderful spot to enjoy an afternoon of reading of just taking a break from exploring nearby historic Charleston. All in all, a very pleasant, friendly experience, and a place I would definitely stay again on a return trip to Charleston. Thanks, Rick!

Rick was a wonderful host. He was accommodating. Clean room, beautiful house, and his dog and cats are adorable and friendly!! Rick is a wonderful gentleman and very friendly to talk to. He provided us access to his kitchen as well as delicious coffee and bagels every morning. Overall, we would highly recommend staying at Rick's house if you are in the Charleston area.

We had an opportunity to visit Charleston and were so fortunate to stay with Rick and his lovely fur babies. From the get go, Rick made us feel at home. He greeted us with a warm smile and gave us a great recommendation for dinner and things to do around the city. Every morning, we had coffee and bagels and fresh fruit to munch on before heading out. The room was perfect for us two and we had a private bath upstairs. It was truly a great stay. I fell in love with his fur babies!! I wish I could've brought them back with me. All in all, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay with Rick. If you get a chance, head down to The Bearded Cafe and have a cup o' Joe with the best host in South Carolina.
