The Space

Lovely place to stay in a magical location of Costa Rica.
This is a piece of paradise on earth since it is something totally different, staring that there are no roads, so the only media of transportation is by boat, which will make your stay an unique adventure.

Cabinas Beyetty is owned by a local family, who has lived in Tortuguero all their life. We have six rooms available for our visitors. Every room has a private bathroom with hot water shower and fans as well as one double bed and one or two single beds. Nice typical breakfast and meals are served upon request.
(Extra, no meals included in the rates)

We have various native local guides who can take you to wonderful tours in the area such as night-time turtle watching tour, guided hike through the national park trails or a canoe/ boat/ kayak tour to the canals to view the flora and fauna that this amazing place has to offer.

You can find several local restaurants, super market, and shops close by. Unfortunately we don't have any banks so make sure to bring enough cash for your stay, dollars and colones will be equally accepted. Just a couple of places accept credit cards.

  • Amazing experience!
It was absolutely great to stay at Cabina Beyetti, a simple, clean, cousy place to experience Tortuguero in an authentic way rather than a super turistic one :) Alonso was extremely kind, helpful and friendly, and it was great to have the possibility to go around in different tours with him, sharing with us stories about the nature around and his life in Tortuguero. Thanks for everything!

  • So much to do,see and learn. We stayed three days longer
Felt very at home with Bettye and Alonzo. The nature cruise with Alonzo will be unforgettable. His knowledge of the area is infinite.

  • We have had a great time at Tortuguero, living next door to the cordial native family, who attaches great importance of our well-being.
We loved the boat and hiking tours with Alonso - you can't (email hidden)!

    Thank you for everything,

    Antje

  • If you are looking for warm hospitality, super clean room, fabulous enriching tours at much less than big resort prices, fabulous dinner with the hosts who will regale you stories of the history of town, migration patterns, and really any other topic Alonzo can add something. The entire family made me feel welcome and safe. If you are on a budget there is no better place. If you love luxury and seclusion this is not for you - I stayed a night at the fanciest resort down the river and could have stayed longer but I chose to stay at the cabinas for the better experience. If want to experience culture with 5 star service - and still have a hot shower and a great meal and make friends for life ...this is your home. There is so much to see and do in Tortuguero and this is a great central spot to enjoy it. I would come again.

  • Assez sommaire, propre et famille chaleureuse.
Chambre bruyante, mais séjour agréable.. Tortuguero est un endroit magique.

  • What you see in the room photos is exactly what you get. If you expect a nice clean room (with whimsical towel animals - we got turtles) and a clean shower with hot water, you will not be disappointed. What the photos don't show are the wonderful hosts that come with the lodging. Alonso and Beyetty are both experienced guides who took us on a night turtle tour, and Alonso took us on a canal tour.
Not only was Alonso very knowledgeable about the local wildlife (having lived there his whole life), but he was a big part of starting the night turtle tour program. He started working with the original sea turtle researcher in Tortuguero at age 9.
On top of that, the room felt very secure, and someone from the family is always close by, along with the artist that rents the corner room, so your belongings are very secure. This place was a great value for the price, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who understands that it is basic lodging, and does not expect a huge amount of luxury at that price.
They were also great with communication, and helped us figure out how to get out to Tortuguero. We went through La Pavona which had a secure lot for our rental car, and the boat only cost $4.00/person.

  • Yetti, Alonso, Betty and the rest of the family were great hosts and made us feel welcome and at home.
The room whilst very basic was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. The ensuite shower had hot water and was clean.
Alonso and Betty both being guides were very knowledgable and have personal history in the development of Tortuguero. Betty also cooks up a mean snook!

  • Great location! right near the heart of the town. It was great to be able to stay with some of the locals who knew the area and were familiar with different things to see and do. They met us at the boat dock and walked us to our room (very helpful since we didn't have a phone or anything). Make sure you bring enough cash as everything in the town must come by boat or airplane (there are no cars in the town and no ATMs - at least we didn't see any). One thing we weren't aware was that breakfast wasn't included as part of the booking price (it was extra). That is a little different practice than what I'm used to at most Bed and Breakfasts. Nevertheless overall it was still a great price. If you want to see Tortuguero from more of a locals perspective (instead of the expensive touristy parts) I recommend staying here. They will also help you with tours if desired but from a locals perspective which is great!

    Response from Cabinas:

    Hi Brett

Thank you very much for the feedback. We was very happy to have you all staying with us for your honeymoon.
I apologize for the misunderstanding with the breakfast, already updated the site with that information and checking if it will be easier to included in the rate, but have to double check if it will work out.

    Kind Regards, Cabinas Beyetty
