The space
Romantic guesthouse in the center/ the Mexico Room.

A beautiful and romantic colonial guesthouse in Cartagena de Indias, in the vibrant and traditional Getsemani area, one of the last truly exotic places in the Caribbean, the most dynamic downtown location where new luxury boutique hotels, bars and restaurants sprawl. Positioned in a quiet street, away from traffic and commercial activities, and just a few feet from the Arsenal, the Plaza de la Trinidad and the booming Calle del Guerrero night spots and at walking distance from all attractions, bars and restaurants. The house is a mix of colonial and mediterranean style designed by an award winning architect and decorated with african elements and maps brought back by the owner in his African journeys. All rooms are customed designed and fully equipped. The cotto floors with spanish ceramic accents help you cool down and unwind, surrounded by an abundant tropical vegetation with adult mango and palm trees. Guests can relax in the patios and enjoy an open air tile jacuzzi on the terrace and a mirador/solarium with views on the Cathedral, the churches of San Pedro and La Trinidad and the Castillo San Felipe. The house is on a north-south axis and enjoys plenty of natural ventilation.

Mexico.
Standard double room with 1 queen bed and 1 sofa or 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed. Bright room with tones ranging from white to yellows and reds. The private bathroom has a vibrant yellow open roof shower showing a piece of sky and some brave agave defying the sun. Minibar, wifi, 48 inches led tv with cable and Apple Tv, 400 count Egyptian cotton sheets, 600 count cotton towels, hard and soft pillows. Mexican inspired (URL HIDDEN) part of a broader Colombian reawakening, the city is resurfacing with boutique hotels, fusion-seeking restaurants and new fashion labels that turn sleepy towns into global destinations. Tourists are descending on its galleries, strolling idly down its byways, reveling with locals at New Year's Eve parties in public plazas. Travelers now call it Latin America's hippest secret." The New York Times May 2, 2010

"Take a dash of faded colonial grandeur, then add a dose of sultry nightlife and an influx of cosmopolitan travelers seeking the next great Caribbean hot spot. Oliver Schwaner-Albright sets his sights on an emerging Colombian getaway that delivers all this and more." Travel + Leisure April 2008

"...recently, the Colombian port town of Cartagena has become an unlikely food destination, attracting the kind of culinary travelers who spend their vacations in Rome and Paris. And what they find is a city far more exotic, but no less adroit at catering to sophisticated palates...200-year-old Spanish colonial mansions refurbished with crisp interiors, trendy bistros that elevate plantains to haute fare, and theatrical rooms buzzing with dignitaries in starched collars and Windsor knots sipping minty rum drinks..." Location

Cartagena, Bolivar, Colombia

We're very well located on a quiet street in the neighborhood of Getsemani, in the historical centre of Cartagena de Indias, and within short walking distance to all attractions, restaurants and bars.

Nearby are two very interesting squares, Plaza del Pozo, still not too crowded, and the famous Plaza de la Trinidad, the most interesting and busy square in the city.

There are lots of things to see and to do. Restaurants, bars and clubs are everywhere.

When you check-in we'll give you a personal map of the city. All attractions and recommended restaurants and bars are indicated. We'll also give you plenty of local info on what to do and where to go.

We also offer a package of tours and activities ranging from a daytour or a getaway at the Rosario Islands, boat rentals, walking tours at the public market with cooking classes, yoga classes and spa, and much more.

This is the last spot in the center that is still authentic and reflects the Cartagena of past times. Local families, living here for generations are resisting the gentrification of the neighborhood and protecting it from being overly developed. Discover and protect it.

Please let us know if there's anything else you would like us to help you with.
