About this listing

A real prairie farm, our comfortable older home is a wonderful retreat for those who want a quiet country experience or something more active. We cater to small families as well as singles or couples. You can relax, swim in the pool or wander the property. Ideal for a couple getaway or interesting place to stay while attending a function in Regina and area.

The space

Prices can be confusing and this website does not allow us to differentiate between the three bedrooms we have available. Please read below for description of bedrooms, beds, etc.
Located on an organic grain farm, 15 minutes north of Regina (just off Highway #11 north), we have three bedrooms available for rent all on the second floor of the house. Each bedroom is separately priced based on 1 - 2 guests sharing. All share one bathroom. For example, the "Green Room' is $100/night two people sharing or $90 for a single occupant. The "Green Room" has a queen sized bed and an adjoining four season sun room for relaxing. The second bedroom is the "Brass Room" with a double brass bed ($90/double occupancy; $80 single). The third room is the "Twin Room" with two single beds ($90 double or $80 single occupancy). A full breakfast is also provided. Guests can use living room (with satellite TV) and dining room as desired. Given notice, we can make the kitchen available where guests can prepare snacks or meals. A swimming pool is available in summer with a lovely deck for lounging. There are also two covered porches attached to the house for relaxing.
The property is near the Qu'Appelle Valley and has a pasture with flowing stream. It is ideal for a farm retreat or a quiet residence for those with business or pleasure in nearby Regina or Lumsden/Craven, or for small families who want a different experience.
We raise Canadian Horses and have overnight accommodation for horses too in separate pens (Bed and Bale).
We have freely available highspeed wireless internet and satellite television.

Guest access

Guests have access to the main living areas of the house - kitchen, dining room and living room as well as the bathroom. The guests are also free to wander around the property, taking care around the horse pens and the swimming pool. There is a BBQ available for guests' use as well.

Interaction with guests

Depending on the preference of the guest, we usually like to get to know our guests, sharing travels or other details as possible.

Other things to note

During farming season (April - October) you may wish to observe various operations such as seeding, swathing, harvesting or making hay for the horses. You are free to do this. We have domestic Saskatoon berry bushes and during July, there are berries to pick.

We do have two dogs on the property which are friendly. You may also bring your pet with prior arrangements. Typically we don't have pets in the house (protection for those with allergies), however exceptions can be made depending on the size and type of pet.

Elaine and Will are terrific hosts - it was like staying with family (the good kind of family ;-). The house, originally built in 1916, maintains its grace, is in a beautiful location near the Qu'Appelle valley and has the essence of the best of prairie landscape and hospitality of prairie people.

Thanks Vivian. I will check the bathroom description to ensure people know it is a shared bathroom.

We were pleased with our friendly hosts & their willingness to help with minor changes in plans. We enjoyed the older farmhouse & were comfortable in the guest room. The breakfasts were awesome & gave us a great start to the day. We had a mostly rainy weekend but I would love to return sometime & explore the farm in nice weather.

Keewatin Farm is easy to find and conveniently close to Regina, but all you hear are chirping crickets and birdsong as you fall asleep; it's lovely! Elaine and Will are wonderful hosts and the provided breakfast was delicious and filling. The Green Room in which we stayed was spacious and comfortable.

Response from Elaine:
Thanks for your nice words Carmen. Too bad the coyotes didn't howl that night, would have added another 'rural' touch. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

We booked Elaine’s room through Airbnb. She sent dozens emails to help us making our plans. In Regina we visited the Canada’s Farm Progress Show, unbelievable the agriculture equipments are gigantic, like the giant beans come true. Coincident her husband William also works in the show. Elaine’s beautiful house in a big farm between highway 11 and highway 6, really convenient. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious, the Saskatchewan wild blue berry pancake is out of this world (collected in her farm). We got extra bonus, a Canadian veteran who is on a seven month cross country horse back ride to raise awareness for PTSD, his term and seven horses also stay in her farm. We had a good talk with them and moved by his spirits. Elaine gave us tons of useful information, particularly rodeo in Pillot Butte. Before this we didn't have any idea about rodeo. We are the only spectators that never have been to a rodeo. Ladies Barrel Racing, Tie Down Roping, Bareback, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Bull Riding, Heave Horse Pulling and Chariot Racing, everything for use is new. We were excited and got crazy by brave Cowboys and cowgirls. Elaine also drew several detailed maps to guide us. We have so many fun in Regina. Thank you Elaine and william for your hospitality . By the way, English is my second language, maybe some sentences or words not make sense, but not my fault, because the Canada Mint not makes cents anymore.

Response from Elaine:
Thank you very much for the lovely review and the Father's Day wishes. We send the same back to you and to Allan too. Don't worry about your English - everything made "cents". English is very tricky sometimes. Loved the joke at the end too. Wish you all the best on your travels. Elaine and Will

My husband and I operate an organic grain farm near Regina, SK. We raise organic crops and Canadien Horses. We have a large farm house with outdoor pool, large spaces for walking and porches for sitting and listening to the country sounds.
