As Letterkenny is the main town it has bus links to Donegal towns and to other parts of Ireland. Ramelton is served by buses but they are infrequent. We can collect by car from Letterkenny bus station. Some maps describe the town name as Rathmelton and others as Ramelton. To see all the sights a car is best for touring. There are 2 airports which serve Donegal, an airport within the county at Carrickfinn (Donegal Airport) and City of Derry airport. When you arrive in Donegal you will love. It is very beautiful.
Only ask that guests treat our home as they would their own.
Marion and Gerry were very welcoming and made our stay very pleasant. Their orange black cat Gaga was also adept at human manipulation by using some form of "cute eyes" hypnosis while we were eating.
I recommend trying their hospitality if you want to discover Rathmelton's charm or if you are simply passing through.
A really pretty town, with fabulous old buildings, complete with a thatched roof Irish pub, with open fire !
It was winter ... rain and snow ... so I didn't get out to do any walking .... but would be glorious walking country.
Gerry was a fabulous host - Marion was away for work - but Gerry very capably looked after me !
The house is lovely, clean, modern, warm with wifi ! Seriously, one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in !
Gerry and Marian were great hosts. Their home is comfortable and my room with my own bathroom worked nicely. The area they live is beautiful and each day of exploring was better than the day before. Anyone traveling to that part of Ireland will find the accommodation, the location, and the hospitality of Gerry and Marian to their liking.
The place is really amazing and the house is clean and very confortable. Unfortunately Marion was not at home, the night we were there, but Gerry was a perfect host anyway. He prepared a delicious breackfast and gave to us useful suggestions. Really a Good experience.
And another great airbnb experience! Marion and Jerry were good hosts, their directions were fine - except that there are no street names in the town which made it a bit challenging! House/room was as expected/described - very quiet, clean and comfortable and again we were encouraged to use the kitchen for tea/coffee etc. Breakfasts - which were cooked by Jerry as Marion had to go away - were what we expected following our previous night in Donegal - big and very tasty! it's a 10 minute walk into town and the Bridge inn does good food with local music on Sunday nights (probably others but that was when we were there). Easy to drive to national park or up to the coast - there's still lots we'd like to see and would happily go back here!
Marion and Gerry were very welcoming and friendly. The cooked breakfasts were huge and delicious. Their home is spotlessly clean, and a sitting room is provided for guests. If you fancy a game of chess, Gerry will give you a very good run for your money!
MARION and husband were wonderful hosts to my wife and me.
They live in an amazing town off a river with great views and
peaceful surroundings. Their home is beautiful and spotlessly
clean. We had an Irish breakfast prepared for us in the morning
that was fit for royalty, this combined with their warm welcome
made our stay one we will remember for a very long time.
About the Host, Marion
I enjoy meeting new people, over the years have formed friendships with people from all over the world. I love my home county of Donegal and will be happy to advise visitors of the best places to go and assist with any practical queries. My second love is Italy and I am now working at learning Italian. My husband moved to Donegal from Dublin and he also loves this area., he also enjoys meeting new people. We both love travel whether within our own country or abroad. We mostly visit other european cities for short breaks but occasionally take a longer two week holiday. .
