Interaction with Guests
I love to share info about the area and tips on shopping and eating as well as transportation. I am often away on business but when I am home I love to connect with guests. It's the best part about hosting.
Alberta is a thriving neighborhood with many fun shops and delicious places to eat. I am a hug fan of Sip cart, Townshend's tea, Ped-x, Branch, Cork wine shop, and Bollywood. My favorite breakfast joint is Helser's and Extracto is a fantastic place to get a cup of coffee. There are two parks right within the neighborhood and you can pick up the bus if you need to get downtown fast. We are also a stone's throw from The Kennedy School and New Seasons. I love the ease of location from where we live. We are just close enough to walk and just far enough away to not hear the sounds of the hustle and bustle.
There are zip cars, car2go cars and three bus routes all within walking distance. It's also easy to bike safely in our neighborhood. We are about 15 minutes (a 16-18.00 cab ride) from PDX Airport.
Other Things to Note
I love kids but the place is not kid proof at all, as much as I would love to accommodate folks with young ones, we are not a good fit. (Think glass objects, candles, easily opened cabinets, lots of stairs, things that can tip over and lots of plants hanging inside and out). Also, and this is very important, the steps to the upstairs are old and steep...please note that extra caution needs to be taken when walking up and down them. Gotta love the 30's but they definitely did not put great emphasis on the upstairs of many smaller homes.
It's a fairly easy going home. Absolutely no smoking anywhere inside or out. It is clean, typically no shoes and we hope folks will leave spaces the way they were or better when done. It is an early to rise and early to bed place.
There are no pets, which is kind of sad, but my travel doesn't allow for them. We do have squirrels and hummingbirds for your entertainment though!
First floor bathroom for Airbnb.com Guests. There is plenty of space for your items while you stay. Plus fresh towels and epsom salts should you want to take a bath!
The room is very clean and well maintained. The house as a whole is spectacular and amenity laden and it made us consider moving out to Portland. Caretia and her partner Brett are lovely and incredibly kind, and the time we ended up spending with them was at least as enjoyable as everything else we did in Portland. Couldn't recommend more highly.
My boyfriend I found this place late during the week after driving in from San Fran. Caretia was very accommodating and allowed us to book a late arrival. The room was spacious and clean .
Caretia was fantastic. I had a reception I needed to get to and she did everything on her end so I could arrive late and still get right in the house and into bed. And the bed was great, amazing pillows! WiFi password was left on the desk with a binder of suggestions/things to know. Clean, comfortable arrangements and a great host.
Caretia and her space were superb! Even better than the listing. Caretia was gracious, responsive and available for my check in. Kitchen was well equipped, house clean and comfortable. I will look forward to staying here again.
Caretia's home was stylish and full of personality. The room itself was super clean and comfy, we slept very well indeed! As for Alberta, what a great neighbourhood with lots of cool places to try out! Caretia is lovely and was very friendly and helpful- had a great stay!
My wife and I had such a great time with Caretia. She is a wonderful accommodating host. Wonderful room in a lovely neighborhood in the Alberta District. It so close to some of Portland's best food offerings, Like Beast and the Bollywood Theater. I am a road bike rider and showed up with my road bike packed in a large case. Caretia said no problem and said I could store in here cottage and I went out riding every morning we were there. Thanks again Caretia.
Caretia's home is beautiful, so stylish. The room was very quiet and comfortable and close to so much great stuff. Caretia was a very easy, friendly host. We definitely recommend a stay with her if you're traveling through PDX.
About the Host, Caretia
I am originally from the East Coast, and have found a home here in Portland, OR. I Love Portland!! I am an artist, a therapist, yogi, traveler, foodie- you name it. I bought this house a five years ago and have renovated it extensively. The construction is over and now it is just a lovely space to enjoy. It is a peaceful refuge located in the heart of Alberta Arts neighborhood. I love waking up and looking out over the gardens, enjoying a steaming cup of coffee or tea and strolling around the neighborhood any chance I get. I truly enjoy getting to know new people through airbnb.com and have been very fortunate to have all but one guest be respectful of the space. I choose to believe people really want to get out and meet new folks and I think this is a great way to do it!
