Just a block off Thayer, next to a park, and a short walk to Brown or RISD. You'll have my sunny spare bedroom to yourself. Feel free to use the kitchen.
My place is a five minute walk to the heart of Thayer St, where you'll find a ton of places to eat, the Brown bookstore, bars and shops. Most Brown and RISD campus locations are less than a 15 minute walk away.
When you arrive, you can walk from the Kennedy Plaza (20min) if you come by bus, or from the train station (15min). There is a hill coming from direction though, so consider a cab for about $6-$8.
Josh and his girlfriend (I think her name is Genevieve?) were incredibly accommodating. I arrived in from Boston at around 7am. Hoping to maybe stop my things off before my first meeting that day, I texted John to see if he was up. He was! Unfortunately, the timing didn't work out for me to get over to his place before the day kicked into gear. Nonetheless, John was more than willing to accommodate me at that early hour.
John's place is really nice. Very well located and spacious, with tons of natural light. While I didn't spend much time at home, when I did, it was super pleasant. John also allowed me to use his laundry machine, which was a great time saver for me. All in all, I had a great experience. I'm only sad I didn't get to spend more time chatting with John and hearing his thoughts on the surrounding area!
The reservation was canceled 11 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
John's place was very conveniently located near Brown campus. He provided a clean room with a futon bed and was prompt in responding to any emails I sent him. Easy and hassle free. Recommended.
We had an early arrival time, John made perfect arrangements for us to get in and get settled.
Room was great and sunny as advertised. Location is walking distance to Brown/RISD and Thayer street eateries.
We stayed two nights and everything worked out great.
John let me know ahead of time that he wouldn't be around when I arrived, and he arranged for me to pick up the keys so I could let myself in. I was happy with the location of the apartment. It's very close to all the eateries on Thayer. However, it was clear from all the dust balls collecting on the floor and heat ducts that the room hadn't been cleaned in a while. This made my stay less than comfortable.
Very good experience. Nice, clean, sunny room in a wonderful location, friendly and flexible guest.
A lovely apartment in a lovely area of Providence close to shops and cafes. The room was nice and the futon comfortable. John seemed a nice guy in the short time I had talking with him. His neighbour was very helpful when we first arrived. Overall a good experience.
very good experience; John contacted me with explicit instructions on where to find a key and a neighbor greeted me as I arrived. Room is as advertised (also, up a spiral staircase to second floor), very sunny and, happily, with a good reading lamp. Located in an 1880s building in a wonderful location between Thayer Street (with restaurants) and Prospect St. (with gorgeous historic homes) and an easy 10-15 minute nice stroll to both Brown and RISD. Bathroom and room very clean and welcoming.
Staying with John was great. I recommend him to anyone staying in Providence. The room was very clean and perfect for one night.
My partner and I arrived in Providence late at night and John was flexible and able to make arrangements for us to "check in". The accommodations were comfortable and the house is located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. John communicated quickly and efficiently with us via text messages when we were in town. Overall we had a great experience.
