Spend your evening relaxing in the hot tub secluded in the Redwoods.
Looking south from inside the cottage is the largest window which affords the incredible view of the Pajaro Valley. The queen size bed is placed so you can enjoy gazing out upon the fertile valley while lying in bed. Some mornings the fog lays down so perfectly one can feel wonderfully alone looking out at the sea of soft white. Sunsets are often remarkably beautiful. Sit on the front deck in an Adirondack chair with a cup of tea or glass of wine and enjoy creation. In the morning and evenings you can sit and watch and listen to the Mourning Doves, Band Tailed Pigeons, Oregon Juncos, Stellars and Scrub Jays, Hummingbirds, Hawks and Ravens.
The cottage is bungalow style. It is like a large open studio. There is no seperate bedroom.
Just inside the big window there is a delicious couch and a loveseat that provide comfortable viewing from inside the cottage. The couch is large enough for a fine nap. It is also a great place to snug down with a book or magazine or some knitting. The gas heater stove is particularly cozy on a cool day. There is a piano in the cottage as well. Feel free to play.
The cottage is fully equipped with a kitchen including a reproduction antique stove and small refrigerator. It has a newly installed bamboo floor. One can enjoy their breakfast with a breath taking view. Coffee and tea in the kitchen are for your enjoyment.
The bathroom has a tub/shower combination. Bedding and fresh linens are provided.
The cottage is heated with a natural gas stove. There is an oil heater for extra chilly nights.
There is plenty of open space inside to accommodate several people practicing yoga at the same time. And it is quiet enough for meditation.
We find many of our guests are looking for peace and quiet in their busy lives. It can be found here. Occasionly the guests spend many days resting, reading, etc. inside the cottage or on the beautiful deck that looks out to Pajaro Valley.
The weather here is excellent. It is located in a micro climate called a banana belt. Though the beach is only 25 minutes away we are often in the sun when our neighbors in the valley and on the coast are in the fog. Winters are mild we average 25" of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The fog rolling in at night is nature's air conditioner and everything cools down. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day.
The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region.

Dragonfly Cottage was even better than expected. The location, the view, the simple and very very cozy interior were all a treasure. It is very remote so you need to bring in what you will need and it is so lovely that once you are there you don't want to leave. It is a perfect getaway.
Mary Jane's place is fantastic! The cabin is very clean and has everything you could need for a weekend- or week-long stay. Picture a large, open floor-plan, with windows looking out over the valley. The hot tub is secluded and very peaceful. I hope to stay here again soon!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Dragonfly Cottage. Although there are other homes nearby on the property, the cottage felt private and the view from the side of the mountain was gorgeous. It is quite a drive from town so this is a great spot to really get away. The one-room cottage is large and well stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. It was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. My husband loved the hot tub which was down a set a stairs off of the porch. The view from the hot tub is pretty great too and very secluded. The wi-fi was not working when we stayed, but we both received adequate cell reception with AT&T so we didn't feel too isolated. Overall, we loved staying here and would recommend it to anyone looking to get away and spend time in nature.
This place was a truly wonderful mountain retreat to spend the weekend. It was quiet and definitely off the beaten path. Sun-bathing on the deck and looking at the stars from the hot-tub are highlights. Mary Jane is a great host and made arrival and checkout super easy.
The cottage has an amazing view and feels very cozy. The little kitchen area and big kitchen table were perfect for low-key meals and working on our computers. Though the internet was temporarily out, Mary Jane was very generous and let us use their personal hotspot so we could work. Incredibly kind of her. We had a great writing retreat and also got to explore the area a bit. I'm glad we took our SUV because the mountain driving was stunning but quite steep at times. Our car battery died one night but Mary Jane had a charger on hand and was even able to run the cord down to the cottage so we could charge it over night. Worked perfectly! Over all, just a fantastic place and incredibly kind hosts.
This place is such a gem. Tucked into the woods, far away from everything else. It's a bit of a drive from Santa Cruz, and you are sharing the property with other people that you can definitely hear when you're on the deck, but I don't think it diminished from the experience. There's eco-friendly bath and cleaning supplies which I love. We ended up staying inside and reading a lot, looking out at the trees. It was a great break from the city. Never actually met Mary Jane, but she provided instructions before we arrived, which was helpful. Try to get here during the day, because even with directions we got SO lost on the winding roads. Thanks, Mary!
