Ideal one-bedroom, one- bathroom apartment at the beach. Filled with sunlight from the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, this adorable place is one block from Main Street, where you'll find great shops, restaurants and bars. Comfy living room that opens up into a full (website hidden) area with stools perfect for having a glass of wine and your meals if you decide to stay in and cook. Walking distance to everything including the Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade. You are steps away from the sand and bike path, which will easily take you to Venice and Marina Del Rey heading south, and Malibu heading north. This is an old school west LA apartment with a great terrace that faces south. The ocean/beach view isn't from the living room, but from the outdoor space. You won't find granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, but you'll have access to everything, including me for any help you'll need getting around.
Here, you're getting so much for your money vs. staying at a place like the motels in town, where the average rate during the summer is $259/night for a tiny little room or spending $400+ at one of the better hotels!
You can use this home away from home as a jumping off point to everything Los Angeles has to offer. If you've got a car, you are just a few blocks from the 10 Freeway. If you don't, there are buses that are very easy to navigate as well as taxi and car services I can recommend. Whether you want to live like a local or play tourist, you can't beat the location.
Also perfect for business travelers and for conventioneers who attend shows like AFM (American Film Market).
Preferential parking pass will be provided at no charge. If lost, will be paid for from your security deposit.
The building is pretty quiet, so if you're looking to throw a party, this might not be the spot for you. Being respectful is key.
2 guests maximum.
I wish I could accept pets, but unfortunately I can't. And absolutely no smoking.
Interaction with Guests
I'm available and happy to assist however I can to make guest's stay perfect.
Reservations need to be made with at least one week's notice. While the building isn't stone quiet, guests must respect neighbors. No loud music. No pets. No smoking. No burning incense. The apartment isn't baby-proofed, so sadly, no children. Make sure you blow out candles when leaving the apartment or when you go to sleep. Laundry is activated with a pay-card that is provided on property as is the parking pass. Laundry is $2.00 per load and $2.00 per dry. The card is debited and charged to my credit card, so please leave cash behind for what you've used - honor system. If the parking pass or the laundry card is lost, a charge of $100 will be deducted from security deposit. If you feel to re-arrange furniture, please notify me first. Please make sure apartment is locked up when you leave and close windows and doors to bedroom and terrace. Please keep the screen door to the terrace closed unless you are on it. Most of all, have a wonderful time living in the space and holler for me if you need anything.
It's always a pleasure to stay at The Beach Box! It's my home away from home when visiting my LA office! Beth is the best!
Beth's place is truly at the Beach. One can see the sunset and the sand from her balcony; though it's not a straight on view, when you sit in her chair, you can enjoy the view between the buildings and the trees.
Beth's apartment is clean and functional. It's not fancy, but it has everything you need, including decent wi-fi and a comfortable bed.
And Beth goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and to orient you to your new neighborhood. She had a wonderful assortment of welcome goodies for me, and she even texted me to remind me when to move my car for street cleaning! You can't beat that!
It was unusually hot when I stayed at Beth's in February (high 80's!) and the living room could get warm during the day. But by closing the blinds a bit, opening the balcony windows and the bedroom windows and running the ultra-quiet bedroom fan, I got a nice cross breeze. I was comfortable sleeping at night.
Thanks so much Beth, for sharing your little corner of paradise with me!
The appartment was great, really well located and very quiet. Beth was very present and helpful.
We highly recommend this place!
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time in LA, thanks to Beth and her beachbox.
Beth is a very kind and helpful host. She gave us a very warm welcome and was available at any time.
The apartment itself is very nice and cozy. The location is awesome, just a few steps away from the beach. With the provided parking pass, parking is easy at any time of the day.
Santa Monica is AMAZING. It's such a cool place, and Beth is right smack-dab in the middle of it all. It's right across the street from the beach. M Street Kitchen is a really great restaurant/brunch spot a stone's throw away. It's got plenty of space for a couple (and could even squeeze 1 more person in there easily if you wanted). The included parking permit made things a lot easier too, as we were able to snag a spot right on the street and leave the car there for a couple days (we couldn't have done that without the permit). Beth's also done a nice job of making people feel welcome. The included boogie board and beach chairs were awesome too, and I made good use of them. The patio is really nice to sit on and enjoy a glass of wine (and you can see the beach from it!). Also kind of random, but the water pressure in the shower was top-notch. Low water pressure bugs me, so I appreciated that :)
For what we were paying, I was a little disappointed in the quality of the unit. All fixable stuff, like a really low shower faucet (I had to kneel down when showering, at 6' tall) and the fridge door handle was broken off. It was also confusing checking in, because Beth expected us to arrive AT the check in time, not sometime after it. Definitely suggest clarifying that for future rentals so people aren't caught off guard. I felt bad she had to re-arrange plans, but I think it's pretty standard on Airbnb that "check in time" means arrive any time after that. If that's a practice she wants to continue, that's fine but definitely spell it out in the listing or provide a way for people to pick up the key after hours. Also, there was no A/C and the place was decently warm during the day. But I think that's standard by the beach. We just hit it on a hot weekend.
SUMMARY: Overall we had a wonderful trip and I would stay there again. The location just can't be beat.
Beth was super communicative beforehand and welcoming when we arrived. Having a parking pass for street parking was GREAT (and there was only one small stretch on Saturday afternoon where we couldn't find anything available on the street). The location was perfect, just steps from the beach and a short walk from the Santa Monica Pier and Main Street. Shutters and Casa del Mar were only 2-3 blocks from our doorstep, and we had great restaurant options nearby. The apartment was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked properly (with great water pressure). LA was pretty hot while we were there in peak summer, so having no A/C was a small inconvenience -- but we were able to move the oscillating fans around to maximize comfort. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this spot to anyone headed to the beach!
What a great little spot for the price! Maybe it's the fact that I'm new to Air BnB, but how else can you get a full sized apartment, for less than $200 a night a block away from the beach? Not just any beach, but, you know, Santa Monica! After living on the East Side of LA for two years, it was nice to be in walking distance to the beach for a weekend. The apartment was very clean. The bed was comfortable. All the appliances and shower worked properly. The parking pass Beth gives you for the area is extremely helpful when you need to find a late night spot. And beach chairs, sitting out on the balcony for you're use! If you're on somewhat of a budget, The Beach Box is perfect if you're looking to spend some time at the beach and/or out and about in Santa Monica.
