MONTE PLACIDO is a residence of 7 homes and a shared infinity pool. Our hilltop offers lush gardens with ocean and mountain views. We are a short 5 minute drive to the nearest beach and only 12 minutes from Las Terrenas. To view all our available homes, click “view profile” by our photo. The space
FLORA (2) is a charming two-bedroom apartment. It is a good choice for families on a budget, two couples, or two singles traveling together that each want their own bedroom and bathroom. Relax on the private terrace as you admire the lush mountain view and listen to the soothing pond fountain. Near the terrace you will find a charcoal barbecue area. The terrace opens to the Living room and kitchen. The indoor living area offers TV and a sofa bed. Enjoy preparing meals in the well-equipped kitchen with a four-burner stove top and full-size refrigerator. We are proud to offer fiber optic cable internet service, ideal for working remotely. You can use the flat screen TV to view your streaming accounts like Netflix. The home offers mountain view with the terrace designed for privacy. This home has a fenced in yard and pets are allowed. We request they do not sleep on the bed and stay off the furniture. Sleep comfortably with mountain breeze. Rooms have ceiling fans. Beds are equipped with nets, however with the hilltop breeze there are truly very few mosquitoes. Our residence is “GREEN” using solar power, with both city power and a generator for back up! You will not experience any long-term power outages here. Please respect the neighbors and keep the music volume down especially after 10PM.

MONTE PLACIDO guests have access to the pool and barbecue, also the yoga studio and outdoor gym. After a busy day, return to our hilltop paradise and relax in the refreshing infinity pool. The pool area has two separate lounging and dining areas. Inside the pool, you will find a shallow area for children and a deep area for swimming. SHIVA’S CAVE YOGA STUDIO is on site for your own personal workout. There are no scheduled yoga classes at this time. Experience this mystical, magical place with interesting rock formations and special energy. The interior cave chamber is perfect for quiet meditation. The studio can be rented for special events such as weddings, retreats and seminars.

Guests at MONTE PLACIDO have access to a variety of services. Reserve a massage. Order a meal through the KOMIDA app. Have groceries conveniently delivered by Supermercado Lindo. We can help you organize activities you will not find through a tour operator, such as hiking in the hills, fishing with a local or private yoga lessons. Horseback riding just 5 minutes away.

Other things to note
We provide coffee, tea, milk, sugar for your first morning. You will have complimentary salt and pepper, small bottles of oil and vinegar and one 5-gallon bottle of water. We also provide an initial set up of disposable items like garbage bags and toilet paper. Once they are used it is up to you you to buy your own disposable items. More 5-gallon bottles are available for sale on site.

MONTE PLACIDO is a private residence that overlooks the ocean. We are not a hotel. We are not open to the public. We are gated and safe. Our little mountain top is always open to the refreshing Atlantic Trade winds thus virtually mosquito fee. We are in pastoral setting close to the typical Dominican village of La Barbacoa. You will discover local culture and meet our charming and friendly neighbors. There is a Elementary school, and if you feel inclined, they are so very happy to accept donations.

Welcome to MONTE HOME RENTALS PLACIDO and SHIVA'S CAVE YOGA RETREAT CENTER. We can accommodate up to 24 guests in our 6 homes on our mountain top ocean view gated residence. Don and Diana Married in 1999 and moved to the Dominican Republic in 2002. Don grew up in Paris, France and Diana on Long Island, New York. We built Monte Placido and the six houses as a family residence. In 2011 we began our rental home business. Diana enjoys yoga. She organizes yoga retreats in what we call SHIVAS's CAVE. When Don is not gardening he goes sailing. Come and join us, relax and enjoy!
