Stop and smell the roses with us. Enjoy a private apartment on a small farm in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Pet the donkeys, enjoy coffee by the pond with the ducks and chickens and still be near all the modern conveniences and attractions.
Are you looking for a vacation or business travel spot that is close to everything but feels like you're in the country? Then this private guest suite on our 4 acre chicken and miniature donkey farm in Durham, NC is for you. You can sightsee or work all day then relax by the pond with a cool drink.
We're less than 1/2 a mile off I-40 and only 6 miles to Chapel Hill (UNC & UNC Hospital) and 9 miles to downtown Durham (Duke University, American Tobacco Campus, Durham Bulls). Only 15 minutes to RDU Airport and RTP, 20 minutes to Raleigh (NC State, Carolina Hurricanes). Very close to shopping and restaurants around Southpoint Mall as well as The American Tobacco Trail, plus we're only minutes to Jordan Lake and the Jordan Lake Gamelands.
The apartment features:

- a dining area with dining table and seating area;
- a kitchenette with refrigerator/freezer, induction cookeye, microwave, toaster, sink, coffee maker and coffee, and basic cooking supplies;
- a full bathroom with shower and hair dryer;

All sheets and towels are provided, as well as wifi Internet and we'll even have some free range eggs in your fridge.
We can not allow outside animals of any kind, sorry.
We look forward to meeting you!
Interaction with Guests
We will be around during your stay and are always more than happy to show you around the farm and introduce you to the animals, or recommend place to eat or visit. Our default position, however, is to stay out of your way and let you enjoy your vacation.
We like to think we have the best of both worlds here. Once inside we fell like we're in the country, but we are still only 1/2 mile from I-40 and restaurants and shopping.
There is a Durham Transit stop at the Mall about a mile away, but you'll probably want a car to really get around.
Other Things to Note
If you are here for a special occasion and would like a bottle of champagne chilling, or a 6-pack on NC craft beer in the fridge we can probably make that happen. Just message me and we will work out the details.
This is a working farm, so use common sense.
Don't open any gates or feed any animals without asking first please.
Definitely no smoking anywhere on the grounds.
Please contact us ahead of time to let us know your approximate arrival time, so we can plan on checking you in. There's not much to the check-in process, but we'll need to give you a key and gate remote. There is a $40 deposit for the gate remote.
There is a dog, Clarice the Great Pyrenees, who roams the farm and keeps the chickens and donkeys watched over, she may give a bark but is mostly a big, white teddybear. She is the reason for keeping the gate closed though.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable. We're always happy to give you recommendations for places to see, dine and do around Durham/Chapel Hill.
We had a great experience! We didn't have any direct interaction with our hosts, but we were emailed clear instructions. We were also given contact information incase we needed anything.
We loved the animals on the farm. Seriously adorable donkeys.
The apartment itself was comfortable and clean. We appreciated the extras like fresh eggs and pots, pans and cooking supplies.
There was plenty of towels and hot water. The bathroom was stocked with hotel size extras as well. We didn't need any, but it was great to have them available.
We had a great time, it's a wonderful area with a ton of things to do. You are a hop, skip and jump away from an awesome mall too.
Overall it was awesomely awesome.
This place is great! Everything was setup and clearly marked. The place was as advertised and worked amazing. Can not say enough about the place, location, and hosts everything was top notch. Stay here if you are in the area, especially if you like animals and the outdoor wooded feel.
Eric and Lisa were excellent hosts. Eric was communicative and gave excellent directions to the farm, making it easy to find for someone unfamiliar with the area.
The apartment was very comfortable, totally clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. If we wanted to, we could have done some light cooking, as well. I would absolutely have stayed for longer than our two nights.
Central Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill were reasonably short drives away, and the farm is a nice base to explore the area.
On top of being a great stay, the animals are wonderful and friendly.
I had great stay in this cost apartment! Everything was exactly as the listing said it would be. I would stay again and recommend the place to friends! Thank you for such a welcoming place to stay while I was in town.
This place was great! Eric made sure we had everything we needed and really went above + beyond by picking up a tasty selection of beer for us (paid for by our friends as a surprise gift upon our arrival).
The apartment has everything you need and really feels like a home away from home. The donkeys, chickens, roosters, dog, and ducks are an added bonus!
The farm fresh eggs were DELICIOUS!!!
Can't recommend this place enough. Friendly, convenient, and just an all around amazing spot.
thanks Eric :)

We stayed with Erich on the farm for four nights. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and provided with everything we needed (Erich even brought us some extra olive oil and provided some fresh farm eggs -- a real treat!). The location is also very convenient -- it's 15 minutes from RDU airport, and easy to reach Chapel Hill as well as other cities nearby. The farm was beautiful (we were fortunate to also see it blanketed with fresh snowfall), and the animals very friendly and cute. In fact, the first day we arrived Dave the sheep ran across to say hello. It was a good stay.
The Apartment and surroundings were as described. No Surprises- which was a good thing! We spoke with the host. He was very nice and wished us a good stay.
The Apartment was cozy, clean, and well stocked for our stay.
I'm a graphic designer and hobby farmer who loves his lady, his animals, hockey, travelling, fishing, music and a nice cocktail by the pond. As a traveller I know it can be hard to find an interesting place to stay that doesn't cost a fortune. We've tried to make that happen here. We're laid back, but take good care of our house and the guest suite.
