Interaction with Guests
We will be around during your stay and are always more than happy to show you around the farm and introduce you to the animals, or recommend place to eat or visit. Our default position, however, is to stay out of your way and let you enjoy your vacation.
We like to think we have the best of both worlds here. Once inside we fell like we're in the country, but we are still only 1/2 mile from I-40 and restaurants and shopping.
There is a Durham Transit stop at the Mall about a mile away, but you'll probably want a car to really get around.
Other Things to Note
If you are here for a special occasion and would like a bottle of champagne chilling, or a 6-pack on NC craft beer in the fridge we can probably make that happen. Just message me and we will work out the details.
This is a working farm, so use common sense.
Don't open any gates or feed any animals without asking first please.
Definitely no smoking anywhere on the grounds.
Please contact us ahead of time to let us know your approximate arrival time, so we can plan on checking you in. There's not much to the check-in process, but we'll need to give you a key and gate remote. There is a $40 deposit for the gate remote.
There is a dog, Clarice the Great Pyrenees, who roams the farm and keeps the chickens and donkeys watched over, she may give a bark but is mostly a big, white teddybear. She is the reason for keeping the gate closed though.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable. We're always happy to give you recommendations for places to see, dine and do around Durham/Chapel Hill.
The setup for checking in made it very flexible, which was great as we got in several hours later than planned. The space was great, and it was really convenient for visiting places all over the Triangle!
Excellent location! Easy to get to anywhere in the RTP area. Close to restaurants and shopping as well. Yet, quite and serene. Visitor's suite was cozy and well appointed. The fresh eggs were a bonus!
We have a fantastic experience at the farm. Eric was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay while giving us space to explore and rest. The private apartment was perfect and exactly what we were looking for - the descriptors shared via the information page were an accurate portrayal of what we experienced. The animals + the pond were lovely additions to the peace + quiet.
My husband and I spent several nights at the farm and had a relaxing and peaceful visit. We planned a different day trip each day and this was the perfect location off the interstate to get to most places quickly. Even though we had all the conveniences; restaurants, grocers, shopping and tons of local places to see it was still in the countryside with ducks, chickens and a miniature horse. We plan on returning to the area again.
This listing is as charming as the description and photos portray. Eric provided very detailed instructions for check in and was good with communication throughout the stay. We were very interested in the farm and got a nice little tour on our last day. Our stay was very relaxing. We were in the area to visit the whole research triangle area. It was easy to get to the three cities of Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham from this location. Would recommend and would stay again!
This was a wonderful experience! Staying on the farm with all the animals and the pond was just an amazing experience. All was ready for me in time and surprise, a tray of freshly laid eggs in the refrigerator, all colors including a bluish one! This is a well equipped room with a kitchenette where you can make you own morning omelet.
Thank you Eric
We had a wonderful trip at Eric's farm. My boyfriend and I were in Durham to look at apartments, and it was nice to have the comfortable & serene farm to go back to at the end of some stressful days. The apartment is perfect for two! We loved watching the DVD's provided by Eric to relax at night. He has a great selection! All in all a very pleasant experience.
About the Host, Eric
I'm a graphic designer and hobby farmer who loves his lady, his animals, hockey, travelling, fishing, music and a nice cocktail by the pond. As a traveller I know it can be hard to find an interesting place to stay that doesn't cost a fortune. We've tried to make that happen here. We're laid back, but take good care of our house and the guest suite.
