Interaction with Guests
We will be around during your stay and are always more than happy to show you around the farm and introduce you to the animals, or recommend place to eat or visit. Our default position, however, is to stay out of your way and let you enjoy your vacation.
We like to think we have the best of both worlds here. Once inside we fell like we're in the country, but we are still only 1/2 mile from I-40 and restaurants and shopping.
There is a Durham Transit stop at the Mall about a mile away, but you'll probably want a car to really get around.
This is a working farm, so use common sense.
Don't open any gates or feed any animals without asking first please.
Definitely no smoking anywhere on the grounds.
Please contact us ahead of time to let us know your approximate arrival time, so we can plan on checking you in. There's not much to the check-in process, but we'll need to give you a key and gate remote. There is a $40 deposit for the gate remote.
There is a dog, Clarice the Great Pyrenees, who roams the farm and keeps the chickens and donkeys watched over, she may give a bark but is mostly a big, white teddybear. She is the reason for keeping the gate closed though.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable. We're always happy to give you recommendations for places to see, dine and do around Durham/Chapel Hill.
We stayed with Erich on the farm for four nights. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and provided with everything we needed (Erich even brought us some extra olive oil and provided some fresh farm eggs -- a real treat!). The location is also very convenient -- it's 15 minutes from RDU airport, and easy to reach Chapel Hill as well as other cities nearby. The farm was beautiful (we were fortunate to also see it blanketed with fresh snowfall), and the animals very friendly and cute. In fact, the first day we arrived Dave the sheep ran across to say hello. It was a good stay.
The Apartment and surroundings were as described. No Surprises- which was a good thing! We spoke with the host. He was very nice and wished us a good stay.
The Apartment was cozy, clean, and well stocked for our stay.
Very comfortable and clean space, with easy access to any location within the triangle. I stayed quite warm despite the low temperatures outside. Lovely quiet property and respectful owners. Next time I pass through the area, I will intend to stay here again! Thank you for the relaxing weekend.
A great stay--peace and serenity, plus fresh eggs. Very private. I will DEFINITELY stay there again when I'm in the triangle area!
Eric and Lisa's place was in a great location. A short drive away from shopping and restaurants. Eric recommended a few places for my boyfriend and I to have a nice dinner and the place he recommended was DELICIOUS.
Lisa showed us around the farm when we first arrived, but for the most part, we didn't really run into them. However, they were quick to respond if we needed anything. The eggs and coffee for breakfast were a winner! Thanks for having us!
The place was clean and quiet. Eric wasn't intrusive and was very helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
Eric's farm was a great home base for exploring the Triangle. He made it easy to find the place and check in, and the apartment had everything we needed. The donkeys, chicken, and ducks were all adorable and added a lot of charm for us city dwellers. Recommended!
I'm a graphic designer and hobby farmer who loves his lady, his animals, hockey, travelling, fishing, music and a nice cocktail by the pond. As a traveller I know it can be hard to find an interesting place to stay that doesn't cost a fortune. We've tried to make that happen here. We're laid back, but take good care of our house and the guest suite.
