There are loads of buses to and from Rathmines and the luas is a ten minute walk. There is no direct bus from the airport, take a cab or get a bus and the 14 or 15 or 140 from Trinity college (Nassau Street). The 18 from Castlewood Avenue will bring you to Ballsbridge and Sandymount or Palmerston.
From Harolds Cross (15 minutes walk away) you can get a 16 to the airport.

A friendly cat lives in my garden, a fox and frogs. We have animals lots of them but I can't take yours.
Margaret is an incredible individual and an amazing host. I had booked her place 2 months back and during this period she helped me plan a perfect vacation in Ireland with her invaluable tips and advice.
Her house is very conveniently located as it is within walking distance to city center, bus stops, market and eateries. The bedroom is large, bright and comfortable. No traffic or other disturbances.
Her house manual appears very formal and strict but in practice she is very flexible and accommodating. She graciously offered - even before I had checked-in - to take me to one of the most beautiful gardens in the world located in Enniskerry.
She is a delight to talk to and one of the main reasons I plan to come back again next year!
This was my first airbnb experience.
It will not be my last, but my host Margaret has set the bar quite high.
Here home was just as depicted and I slept quite well. Her home was very comfortable and I felt comfortable in it.
Margaret was accommodating, generous of spirit, warm, friendly and helpful. I appreciated being out of the hustle and bustle of the centre, but it was also very easy and quick to access.
I would not hesitate to recommend Margaret or her accommodations.
Margaret's place is fantastic, and she was a lovely host. Had a wonderful stay! :)
I felt in love with the beautiful, old house and the wild garden. Would love to live in a house like that one day. Margaret was is a lovely person. Very open minded and caring. She was very helpful with everything and it was also fun chatting with her.
When I told her that I wanted to have a typical Irish breakfast but was vegetarian she was afraid that I would find any traditional Irish dish without meat in a café. So she decided to make lovely potato cakes with mushrooms, tomato and chutney for me on sunday morning.
The house has a wonderful spirit but is quite old. So if you are looking for a hotel-like place it might not be the best choice. But if you are looking for a charming place to spend some beautiful days in Dublin, I can only recommend Margaret's place.
If you need a taxi from or to the airport make sure you go with Alan. Margaret will provide his contact details. He has a good price for Margaret's guests and is also a lovely person.
Hope to come back one day!
I fell in love with Margaret's beautiful home upon entering through the iron gates for the first time. The fragance of flowers from her garden greeted me upon my entry. Margaret welcomed me at the door of her enchanting 18th century home and offered me tea right away. I loved the magnificent room that was my own for the week. It was huge and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was large as well. I loved the area of Rathmines where Margaret lives. I ALWAYS felt safe traveling to and from the bus stop that was steps away from her home. My trip to Ireland was magical largely because of my wonderful hostess and her lovely chateaux!
What should I say?
My asked me to join in this Airbnb and I didnt regret it.
It was really a great experience to become a part of the great house and feel welcomed by Margaret.
I enjoied the time and the pancakes ;-)
The house is close to a bus stop, the center of Rathmines and the Grand Canal. We also get great recommandations from Margaret for diner and pub locations.
So all around was perfect for me.
Thank you, Margaret! Welcoming hostess, lovely room, great location, and the comfiest bed ever! (and a very interesting and quirky huge old mansion)
