Interaction with Guests
I am lead by the guest on the interaction. I am here to meet them myself, I chat to them as they want and tell them about the neighbourhood. It depends on the person entirely. Sometimes they come for a walk with me and the dog in the historical neighbourhood, sometimes they have a chat when they come in. Sometimes they come for a drink with me. I'm around a lot as I mostly work from home. I won't be intrusive but I will share my city with you.
I work from home. I use the sitting room as my home office and it is off limits in working hours (9-6 or 7 monday through Friday). I have a dining room you can sit in and a conservatory in the summer. Please don't expect me to be available to answer questions when I am working.
My work pay for my printer and ink. I can't print boarding passes for you but there is an internet cafe around the corner on the main street.

Rathmines is like a village close to the city. There is everything you could want, parks , a library, bookshops, a cinema, supermarket, a swimming pool and gym, history - all within 5 minutes walk. I like Bark in Alan Hannas bookshop for coffee, but there is starbucks too. I like Slatterys for a drink or Little Jerusalem for simple food. There are lots of places to try. People are friendly and its green and leafy.

Other Things to Note
I love Rathmines and so does my poodle !! I love the Italian cafe in Portobello 10 minutes walk away, the younger crowd like a pizza from the double decker bus and a drink in their trendy outdoor area in the evening. The cake cafe is nearby - they give you a hot water bottle if you sit outside on a cold day.
Quiet house. Have fun but respect the house

If you are staying for a week or more it would be good if I can get in to get your room cleaned. To facilitate this please leave the room and floor reasonably clear.

No bicycles in my house (front hall) or to be brought through the house or chained to the front gate (I can't then open it).
I recycle great if you could just put clean cans plastic and paper in the large bin in the kitchen. Leave any glass bottles beside the bin. The smaller bin is for rubbish.
If you want to bring a takeout back and eat it in the dining room I don't mind but please don't leave your dirty dishes for me to cleanup. If the dishwasher is full rinse them and leave them beside the sink. Don't leave food remains out. There is a bin.
Please use table mats underneath your dishes on the dining room table.
I leave a light self service breakfast out until 10 am on a weekday and 11 am on weekends or holidays. If I am gone out when you get up and eat please put the milk and yoghurt in the fridge and rinse your used dishes and put them in the dishwasher. If the dishwasher is full or on rinse them and leave them in the sink.
There is limited use of the kitchen - no cooking. If you want to buy something small and heat it up that's fine. Keeping a few things in the fridge is fine.
I may be able to keep a bag for you for the day I may not. My checkout time is 10 am and I need the keys returned out at checkout. Please don't expect to hang onto the keys because you want to leave a bag here.
My checkin time is 7 pm. If I am around and can facilitate you with an early check in I will. I get a lot of guests. If someone stays the night before I can't do a checkin until late afternoon earliest.
No extra people in the house or in your room. Only the guest that is booked in should be in my home.
No smoking in the house. If you want to smoke outside I can give you an ash tray.
Please if you wash out some clothes dont leave them hanging in the shower, you are sharing the bathroom with other guests. Give them to me and I will hang them up for you
Please dont hang wet clothes on the wooden furniture it will damage it.
The bathroom is shared please keep your toiletries in your room. Please do not leave all over the bathroom. Hang your towels up either on the hooks in the bathroom or on the hook on the back of the door in your room. I give clean towels and sheets once a week.
Please dont ask to use my address for postal deliveries. I have given this facility in the past and 3 years on have a former guest who doesn't live in Ireland using my address to set up accounts that require Irish residency. I have an instruction at the post office not to deliver mail not addressed to me.
Margaret was very friendly and made me feel quite welcome. Lovely spot and only ~ 25 mins walk to city centre. Not so far from the Bernard Shaw pub (say 10 mins). Its a nice spot to go for a drink. First time that I've used airbnb and it wont be my last.
I'd love to own this place, great location.
Margaret was wonderful! my first experience with AirBnb and I loved it. The house was beautiful and very welcoming. Just like the photos. Rathmines is a perfect area for anyone single, with friends or family. I walked to and from the city center while i stayed here and it was about a 25 min walk and well worth it. Margaret is also very helpful in both giving pointers and making you feel at home. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you! :)
Wow! Margaret and her home were both amazing. she is so nice and helpful, anything you need! house is clean and room was great. the neighborhood was close to everything, I highly recommend staying here with Margaret! I'll be staying there again upon my return! THANKS
I booked this for a colleague, here was their review:
Kind and chatty host, cool house, A++ would bnb again!
Margaret is a very warm and welcoming host, and her Georgian house is absolutely georgious. I visited Dublin to attend a conference and extended my stay over the weekend at Margaret's place. I stayed in the single room for three nights. It has a vibrant wallpaper and curtains with Marimekko's red-and-white poppy pattern. The whole house is decorated tasteful with an eclectic mix of old and new, and a lot of lovely details. (Just take a look at the murals!) The house is set back from the street with a pretty garden. It is very quiet although it is situated in the centre of Rathmines. The Grand Canal and Portobello are a short walk away (less than 10 min). A bus stop is right around the corner.
Je me suis sentie vraiment accueillie.
