When you arrive I will give you keys.
The room has been completely redecorated since the professional shots and is now brighter and funkier... I went for a 60s Marimekko vibe. The very comfortable bed has an electric blanket.

What I am providing is the bedroom. You are welcome to sit and study or use your computer in my dining room. The sitting room is sometimes available for your use. Please ask. The garden room is nice this time of year.
You can put a bike in my shed at the front of the garden but I do not guarantee safety.Lock it. I sometimes have parking but it is free on the road after 6 pm and before 7 am on weekdays and at the weekend. I may have residents dockets.
This room is not available for longer term let. Please don't send me queries re same.
You have access to your room with a desk and chair and wifi and the dining room, bathrooms, garden room ). Please note only limited access to the kitchen. I work from home in the sitting room - its my home office. If I am working on my computer with the door shut please don't come in and talk to me. There are times I am not available.
You can keep something small in the fridge in the kitchen and heating something up in the microwave is fine but no cooking. I give a breakfast or cereal and tea toast . I leave it out for you to help yourselves. Please clear your dishes away - put them in the dish washer or rinse them. If you make coffee on the stove in the moka pot please wipe any spills.
If you stay a week or more I will do a load of washing for you. Otherwise there is a laundry around the corner on the main street.
Please dont leave wet laundry hanging up in the bathroom you are sharing with other guests. I can hang it up on a rack for you if you give it to me.
Pleas leave wet towels hanging on the hooks in the bathroom or on the back of the door in your room.
Interaction with Guests
I am lead by the guest on the interaction. I am here to meet them myself, I chat to them as they want and tell them about the neighbourhood. It depends on the person entirely. Sometimes they come for a walk with me and the dog in the historical neighbourhood, sometimes they have a chat when they come in. Sometimes they come for a drink with me. I'm around a lot as I mostly work from home. I won't be intrusive but I will share my city with you.
I work from home. I use the sitting room as my home office and it is off limits in working hours (9-6 or 7 monday through Friday). I have a dining room you can sit in and a conservatory in the summer. Please don't expect me to be available to answer questions when I am working.
My work pay for my printer and ink. I can't print boarding passes for you but there is an internet cafe around the corner on the main street.
I am happy to book you taxis to the airport. I have a guy with a set rate of 20 euro.
Rathmines is like a village close to the city. There is everything you could want, parks , a library, bookshops, a cinema, supermarket, a swimming pool and gym, history - all within 5 minutes walk. I like Bark in Alan Hannas bookshop for coffee, but there is starbucks too. I like Slatterys for a drink or Little Jerusalem for simple food. There are lots of places to try. People are friendly and its green and leafy.

There are buses 2 minutes from the door (phone number hidden). The green line Luas is 10-15 minutes walk away and there are loads and loads of cabs. Stephens green is 20 minutes walk from here.
Sometimes I can provide parking if not I may have parking dockets for the road for 2 each (24 hour). Parking is free after 6 pm until 8 am in the morning and at weekends. To get here from the airport take either a cab or a bus into town and then 14-15 from Trinity (Nassau street). Buses only take exact change and do not give change or take notes. I recommend buying a Leap card in Mini Mart on the Rathmines road lower opposite Lidl or in a news agent at the airport.
The 18 from Castlewood Avenue will bring you to Ballsbridge and Sandymount or Palmerston.
From Harolds Cross (15 minutes walk away) you can get a 16 to the airport.
Other Things to Note
I love Rathmines and so does my poodle !! I love the Italian cafe in Portobello 10 minutes walk away, the younger crowd like a pizza from the double decker bus and a drink in their trendy outdoor area in the evening. The cake cafe is nearby - they give you a hot water bottle if you sit outside on a cold day.
Quiet house. A friendly poodle lives here. Have fun but respect the house
I work from home and use the sitting room as my home office please respect that if I am in there with a computer during working hours I am working the room is not free for your use and I am unavailable to chat ( questions may be fine) . My printer and ink are paid for by my work I can't print boarding passes for you !! There is an internet cafe 3 minutes away.
If you are staying for a week or more it would be good if I can get in to get your room cleaned. To facilitate this please leave the room and floor reasonably clear.
If you want more drawer or hanging space just ask. I keep extra bedclothes and towels in the bedrooms but can easily clear a drawer.
There are two rooms that you are welcome to use downstairs the dining room and the conservatory and places to sit and read on both landings.
No bicycles in my house (front hall) or to be brought through the house or chained to the front gate (I can't then open it).
I recycle great if you could just put clean cans plastic and paper in the large bin in the kitchen. Leave any glass bottles beside the bin. The smaller bin is for rubbish.
If you want to bring a takeout back and eat it in the dining room I don't mind but please don't leave your dirty dishes for me to cleanup. If the dishwasher is full rinse them and leave them beside the sink. Don't leave food remains out. There is a bin.
There is limited use of the kitchen - no cooking. If you want to buy something small and heat it up that's fine. Keeping a few things in the fridge is fine.
I may be able to keep a bag for you for the day I may not. My checkout time is 10 and I need the keys returned out at checkout. Please don't expect to hang onto the keys because you want to leave a bag here.
My checkin time is 7 pm. If I am around and can facilitate you with an early check in I will. I get a lot of guests. If someone stays the night before I can't do a checkin until late afternoon.
No extra people in the house or in your room. Only the guest that is booked in should be in my home.
No smoking in the house. If you want to smoke outside I can give you an ash tray.
Please if you wash out some clothes dont leave them hanging in the shower, you are sharing the bathroom with other guests. Give them to me and I will hang them up for you
Please dont hang wet clothes on the wooden furniture it will damage it.
Please dont ask to use my address for postal deliveries. I have given this facility in the past and 3 years on have a former guest who doesnt live in Ireland using my address to set up accounts that require Irish residency. I have an instruction at the post office not to deliver mail not addressed to me.
Margaret was a convivial host! She was flexible about check-in and check-out times, was generous with the tea and soda bread, and even had a little souvenir waiting for me when I arrived. The location was perfect for my purposes -- close enough to central Dublin to be convenient (it only took me 15-20 minutes to walk from Rathmines to the River Liffey), but far enough from the city center to be away from the noise, bars, and masses of (other) tourists. The house is eclectic and historic -- truly original, and made even better by its friendly owner (and its friendly dog!).
She was an amazing host and her dog is lovely..
If ill go back to Dublin i would love to use this opportunity again..
Peter pleasure to have you my neighbour Renee enquired after how you enjoyed yourself. I don't normally make a cooked breakfast but if you come again will make you an Irish one which is different Tha English. We have soda bread and black.and white pudding as well as the rashers sausages and egg you get in England !!
Margaret was/is extremely friendly and helpful. The welcome package was great and the house was one of the few classic Georgian houses - an experience in itself.
Margareth and his dog was very welcoming. The house was nicely decorated with different kind of inspiration and also very confy. Would recommand!
A stay worth discovering. Charming place, full of character - and a poodle to match!
Margaret is an amazing host. Always very available. House is clean and big, room is nice and cozy; will def stay again when coming to Dublin.
