The room has been completely redecorated since the professional shots and is now brighter and funkier... I went for a 60s Marimekko vibe. The very comfortable bed has an electric blanket.

You can put a bike in my shed at the front of the garden but I do not guarantee safety.Lock it. I sometimes have parking - it is free on the road after 6 pm and before 7 am on weekdays and at the weekend. I may have resident's dockets for a small fee.

Pleas leave wet towels hanging on the hooks in the bathroom or on the back of the door in your room.
Interaction with Guests
I am lead by the guest on the interaction. I am here to meet them myself, I chat to them as they want and tell them about the neighbourhood. It depends on the person entirely. Sometimes they come for a walk with me and the dog in the historical neighbourhood, sometimes they have a chat when they come in. Sometimes they come for a drink with me. I'm around a lot as I mostly work from home. I won't be intrusive but I will share my city with you.
I work from home. I use the sitting room as my home office and it is off limits in working hours (9-6 or 7 monday through Friday). I have a dining room you can sit in and a conservatory in the summer. Please don't expect me to be available to answer questions when I am working.
My work pay for my printer and ink. I can't print boarding passes for you but there is an internet cafe around the corner on the main street.
I am happy to book you taxis to the airport. I have a guy with a set rate of 20 euro.
Rathmines is like a village close to the city. There is everything you could want, parks , a library, bookshops, a cinema, supermarket, a swimming pool and gym, history - all within 5 minutes walk. I like Bark in Alan Hannas bookshop for coffee, but there is starbucks too. I like Slatterys for a drink or Little Jerusalem for simple food. There are lots of places to try. People are friendly and its green and leafy.

To get here from the airport take either a cab or a bus into town and then 14-15 from Trinity (Nassau street). Buses only take exact change and do not give change or take notes. Other Things to Note
I love Rathmines and so does my poodle !! I love the Italian cafe in Portobello 10 minutes walk away, the younger crowd like a pizza from the double decker bus and a drink in their trendy outdoor area in the evening. The cake cafe is nearby - they give you a hot water bottle if you sit outside on a cold day.
Quiet house. A friendly poodle lives here. Have fun but respect the house
I work from home and use the sitting room as my home office please respect that if I am in there with a computer during working hours I am working the room is not free for your use and I am unavailable to chat ( questions may be fine) . My printer and ink are paid for by my work I can't print boarding passes for you !! There is an internet cafe 3 minutes away.
If you are staying for a week or more it would be good if I can get in to get your room cleaned. To facilitate this please leave the room and floor reasonably clear.
If you want more drawer or hanging space just ask. I keep extra bedclothes and towels in the bedrooms but can easily clear a drawer.
There are two rooms that you are welcome to use downstairs the dining room and the conservatory and places to sit and read on both landings.
No bicycles in my house (front hall) or to be brought through the house or chained to the front gate (I can't then open it).
I recycle great if you could just put clean cans plastic and paper in the large bin in the kitchen. Leave any glass bottles beside the bin. The smaller bin is for rubbish.
If you want to bring a takeout back and eat it in the dining room I don't mind but please don't leave your dirty dishes for me to cleanup. If the dishwasher is full rinse them and leave them beside the sink. Don't leave food remains out. There is a bin.
Please use table mats underneath your dishes on the dining room table.
I leave a light self service breakfast out until 10 am on a weekday and 11 am on weekends or holidays. If I am gone out when you get up and eat please put the milk and yoghurt in the fridge and rinse your used dishes and put them in the dishwasher. If the dishwasher is full or on rinse them and leave them in the sink.
There is limited use of the kitchen - no cooking. If you want to buy something small and heat it up that's fine. Keeping a few things in the fridge is fine.
I may be able to keep a bag for you for the day I may not. My checkout time is 10 am and I need the keys returned out at checkout. Please don't expect to hang onto the keys because you want to leave a bag here.
My checkin time is 7 pm. If I am around and can facilitate you with an early check in I will. I get a lot of guests. If someone stays the night before I can't do a checkin until late afternoon earliest.
No extra people in the house or in your room. Only the guest that is booked in should be in my home.
No smoking in the house. If you want to smoke outside I can give you an ash tray.
Please if you wash out some clothes dont leave them hanging in the shower, you are sharing the bathroom with other guests. Give them to me and I will hang them up for you
Please dont hang wet clothes on the wooden furniture it will damage it.
The bathroom is shared please keep your toiletries in your room. Please do not leave all over the bathroom. Hang your towels up either on the hooks in the bathroom or on the hook on the back of the door in your room. I give clean towels and sheets once a week.
Please dont ask to use my address for postal deliveries. I have given this facility in the past and 3 years on have a former guest who doesn't live in Ireland using my address to set up accounts that require Irish residency. I have an instruction at the post office not to deliver mail not addressed to me.
I stayed at Magaret's place for a weekend and I am very satisfied with my choice. The house is not only nice and clean but also very peculiar with its Georgian style. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious and clean. Margaret is very loving and always ready to give you advices on what to see and visit in Dublin. The house is in a nice neighborhood with lots of restaurants and is located very close to a clock tower, which makes it very easy to find one's way there. I would definitely recommend it!
margaret was really kind and welcoming. she gave me some great suggestions for things to do around the city. the place is not in the center of town, but the bus system is super easy to navigate, especially if you get a leap card, which margaret suggested i do.
Margaret is a very caring, sweet and nice person who has a very bubbly personality too. Right after my booking with AirBnB , she sent all the information needed about Dublin and how to get to her apartment. First day in Dublin, I was sick and she made ginger lemon tea to help me get well. Every morning she wakes up early to prepare the cereals for breakfast. She will take all the trouble to find any information about Dublin and advise me on the right thing to do. Her house is very beautiful, spaces , clean and located in a wealthy and safe neighborhood. Her dog is very sweet and well-behaved. Her home is just five minutes bus ride to city centre. Near her home there are everything from grocery, supermarket, takeaway restaurants, fast food, cinema, bakery etc.
Margaret is a very friendly woman and made me feel very welcome in her home. She also was happy to share ideas on things to do when asked. My favorite suggestion she gave me was to visit the south coast and gardens at Powerscourt. I got exactly what I was looking for, a driving tour of the country and four hours of active walking and hiking around lakes and gardens with amazing scenery. She also provided me with a map to roam the city and identified some local non-tourist pubs within a short walking distance from the house. Bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Distance to city center was 30-40 min walk which I didn't mind, even in the rain. Also forgot to bring a rain coat and Margaret was kind enough to lend me a spare. Like her ad indicates, this is a perfect place if you are going to be out and about most of the time and need a place to freshen up and sleep that is relatively close to the city center with easy access to taxis/buses if needed. I prefer to walk and thought the location was good.
Margaret was a convivial host! She was flexible about check-in and check-out times, was generous with the tea and soda bread, and even had a little souvenir waiting for me when I arrived. The location was perfect for my purposes -- close enough to central Dublin to be convenient (it only took me 15-20 minutes to walk from Rathmines to the River Liffey), but far enough from the city center to be away from the noise, bars, and masses of (other) tourists. The house is eclectic and historic -- truly original, and made even better by its friendly owner (and its friendly dog!).
She was an amazing host and her dog is lovely..
If ill go back to Dublin i would love to use this opportunity again..
