We had a wonderful experience at beautiful Il Borghetto. The apartment was even better than it looked in the photographs. It has been beautifully restored and we very much enjoyed Rita's artworks on the walls. The view is magnificent, changing with the changing light. It was magical to watch the sun set from our terrace.
Rita and Riccardo are excellent hosts. Riccardo also gave us many helpful tips for places to visit, including nearby local restaurant, Due Querce, at the bottom of the hill, which we found ourselves returning to each night after a day of exploring. We hope to return to Il Borghetto again one day - our stay there made our holiday to Italy very special.
Superb, decor, view, the hosts were helpful and kind, cannot say enough about how lovely this stay was. We love to cook and eating out on the terrace with an amazing view of the village was heavenly.
Rita's nipote Elena did a wonderfull job. She was so kind and friendly and helped us enormous when we needed help because of the funeral we suddenly had in Holland. This is priceless. We will come back. The appartment is very lovely and a great vieuw. Down town there is an great swimmingpool.
Riccardo and Rita have a beautiful house on the countryside outside Spoleto. Directions was great and the house was easy to find. Riccardo helped us with the luggage and was very helpful in giving us directions for attractions and restaurants.
Rita and Riccardo have an absolutely gorgeous spacious AirBNB. Il Borghetto di Bazzano is so beautifully renovated and there is every attention to small detail. The heirloom furniture is amazing. Bedding is the finest cotton and linen, and it is like a 5 star hotel. The setting in a tiny enclave of homes above Spoleto is stunning.
Our hosts were so welcoming and helpful. The only drawback is a little noise from the floor above where they live, but is so minimal. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
SUBLIME! The entire experience was simply sublime.
- From the booking itself with Rita being kind, responsive and incredibly attentive;
- To the arrival with Riccardo going above and beyond to make my mom and I feel comfortable in a disarmingly nice and authentic way;
- To the stay itself. The house is stunning: from the interior which is an historical perfectly restored jewel (the pictures showcase it well but once you're in it, the feeling is even more magical) and the view which is picture perfect especially at sunset. The rooms are spacious, the two bathrooms have every comfort and the kitchen was fully equipped.
Rita's garden is a living portrait of an Umbian oasis while her paintings (showcased in the galley) will remind you how talented she is.
We spent three days there and they were simply perfect. Riccardo was kind enough to even leave us fresh milk to accompany the rest of the breakfast they also generously provided. Every little detail has been thought thru ahead of time making the entire experience one that will be remembered as 'SUBLIME'!
Grazie di cuore! A presto!
This is a beautiful property and the hosts are completely charming. We received an impromptu lesson in cooking artichokes and some great advice on parking and transport in nearby towns. As gorgeous as this place is, though, access is steep. Riccardo will happily help with luggage but if you have any issues with mobility, this is not for you.

About the Host, Rita
Riccardo and I were borrn in Roma, where we lived and worked until a couple of years ago. We had the wish of spending part of our time in a quiet country village. In 2001 we visited the "Borghetto" when it wasn't yet the Borghetto of today. The property, abandoned for several years, was in very bad conditions. The water entered trough the roof of the house and it was at risk to break down.... but it had for us the attraction that only old mansions can have, as they tells us many things about happiness and sorrow preserved among their walls. We started a restoration of the property, conducted by qualified architects. The results was very good, as you can see in the pictures. Now, we spend most of our time in this wonderful historical Umbrian area. We can enjoy our preferred hobbies (reading, listening music, painting, biking, doing walking in open air), in a very slow rithm of life. Frequently, friends come and visit us, but we enjoy so much receiving hosts coming from every country, sharing with them the views and the unique beauties of umbrian landscapes and cities.
