We stayed 3 nights at Patty's charming and authentic bungalow in Langkawi. In a quiet residential area with a lovely view of the water, the bungalow is nicely appointed, spacious and air conditioned. The host met us (after we got lost!) late at night and was in no rush - in fact he not only took the time to show us around, but also to point out a great local restaurant and took us to a market to get provisions.
The bungalow itself is simply but comfortably furnished, with some nice touches - the hosts left a DVD and CD library, some fresh fruits as well as a printing a copy of (British newspaper) The Guardian, as thoughtful as it was unexpected!
The hosts responded extremely quickly when we first enquired and were a great source of suggestions for things to do and see in Langkawi. They were attentive during our stay, ensuring we were having a good time and that we were happy with the accommodation.
All in all, extremely good value and a fantastic service. Highly recommended.
Nice House, nice garden, very clean, very nice houskeeper Jeffri! Thank you Jeffri!!!
A little far away from the Beaches and Cenang Street - need a car or moped! But near to the airport.
Could be loud in the morning because of the Mosque.
Washing Mashine, Iron, Fridge, full Kitchen - everything there!
All the sugeestions for the activities were very helpfull and good!
Thank you Patty.
WE had 10 day's at Pattys Home Stay in Langkawi.
Patty was a great host - easy to contact before & during our stay even though she was in Europe, she even called us to give directions when we got lost on the first day. jeffri the welcoming house keeper met us on arrival & gave us a tour of local area - shops retstraunts etc. He was on hand if we needed anything.
The home was clean, well maintained with very comfortable beds & plenty of space for us & 2 children. It's on the sea front about 200m to a river inlet where local fishermen are based. no usable beach near by, but the location is great for exploring the Island by car or moped. less then 10 mins from airport. 15 mins east to Chenang beach & resort which had too many motor sports for us. so we used the beautiful quiet beach in front of the Dana hotel 15mins west. We used the cafe on the same road as the house, selling local dishes for only around 5 ringgit also the Chinese retstraunt over the river a short walk away.
Only downside was the 5.30am call to prayer from the local mosque. We are not used to this so it did wake us each night.
There was plenty to do on Langkawi & it was only about 45mins from end to end. Highlights were the river swimming in waterfall pools, mangrove trip to see eagles, monkey's, bats, fish feeding, water lizard & dolfins (we were lucky). The sea is clean but not clear as sand seems to be kicked up by sea. The Pulau Payar snorkling boat trip was well worth the money (beach there needs cleaning up though) - swim with loads of coral reef fish & sharks!
Be aware car hire from booths at the airport is cheap, but they tried to give us a real wreck the one we settled on was not much better, so check it out before you pay or get a taxi, then I'm sure Jeffri will help sort one out. We found out later in our trip hire cars need a hire car licence on wind screen which ours didn't have.
Overall a great trip.
