Bonner Lodge is our secret little hideaway (well, not that little at 2,500 square feet) in the Hudson Valley/Catskills area of upstate New York. We first learned of this former Girl Scout Camp lodge through friends who purchased and renovated a portion of the original camp next door as their weekend getaway. An architect and designer from New York City, these friends had us up to their unbelievably stylish "camp" and we fell in love--not only with their preppy-chic Girl Scout cabins, lawn parties, and design aesthetic, but also the Town of Catskill, the mountains, the ski resorts, the local produce stand--all of it! It was such a magical escape from the fast-paced-pound-the-pavement life that we lead back in the city. So, when we found out that the original camp lodge, that housed all the girls' (and boys from the nearby brother camp) church services and stage performances was up for sale, we knew we had to buy it. And who better to renovate the lodge and bring it into a modern day structure? The architect and the designer. And a year and half later, Bonner Lodge, with it's magnificent stone fireplace, is a warm, 3 bedroom log cabin, with 2 full bathrooms, a spacious and stylish kitchen, a very large, open main living + dining room, and covered porch for alfresco dining or sunset cocktails.
We have listed several pictures for you to get a sense of Bonner Lodge and our personal style. But Adirondack, Mid Century, Modern, Warm, Comfortable--all fit the feel and style of our house. We are taking our time with getting the decor exactly right, so some things aren't quite perfect yet; just know it's a work in progress, and that's part of the charm.
