Our home is perfectly located for getting out and exploring by car, public transportation, foot, or bike. Our space is most commonly described as "comfortable and clean" by our guests who tend to feel right at home while staying with us.
Come stay in the comfortable private room in our conveniently located 100 year old North Portland home. Our bright and sunny home is in the Historic Kenton Neighborhood, just a 10 minute drive from Downtown (we are right off I-5), and only 3 blocks from public transportation (MAX yellow line and bus). We are also walking distance from the Kenton Business district where there are shops, restaurants, bars and small farmers market. Our home is also in a good location for biking, we have bikes that we can rent to you for an additional $10 per day.
We have a family home where we live with our baby, and our very friendly and old cat and dog. Our guest room is located on the first floor of the house where you can enjoy access to a private bathroom (next to the room) and share our living room, dining room and kitchen space. We have a fireplace to keep cozy in the winter and a front porch for relaxing in the summer. Our family bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs so you will have plenty of privacy.
Just for full disclosure: We tend to be early risers so on weekends we are up and about in the morning making breakfast and using the downstairs shared space. Our house also shows it's age in its beautiful old wood creaky floorboards so light sleepers beware. And last but not least, although our baby is a good sleeper, he is a baby and you never know when they are going to wake up at night with a cry. Most nights this isn't an issue, but we can't promise you won't hear him on the off chance he does wake up. We do keep a nice stash of ear plugs in the room for you just in case and it hasn't been an issue for our guests so far.
*On the bright side: We have coffee & tea for you each morning.
We would love to share our home and knowledge of Portland with you to help you make your trip a memorable one.
We had a great time staying with Allie and her family! It is a perfect location, close (but not too close) to major roads and freeways. It's also in a cute, quiet neighborhood. Allie and Jeff were very helpful and also very accommodating. The room and bathroom were very clean and cozy. Baby Otto is adorable and very friendly. The dog and cat are sweet, old souls. Overall, it was a great first Airbnb experience! We are so thankful this community exists.
I enjoyed three nights at Allie & Jeff's comfortable home. The airbnb description is very accurate, including the warning about squeaky floor and baby sounds - neither of which was an issue for me. Spotless bathroom, extremely comfy bed, gracious hosts in a nice family atmosphere, sweet old critters, and the perfect location for me. Easy access to Max and stores. And the price was right. :-)
Could not have felt more at home! Lovely home, private room and bath, great people and pets. I did not feel like an out of town guest from the beginning. Very comfy and cosy bed that made me sleep in some mornings. And I was given privacy. I would stay there again and again. It is in walking distance from the Max and some very nice restaurants. But what I liked most was the hosts... all of them from the wonderful couple and their 10th month old son to the dog and cat. Sometimes the cat kept me company and slept with me..which I happen to love. But if you do not want the cat do not invite him in and there is no problem. Much better than any hotel and very much like some wonderful European experiences that I have had. I hope you are lucky enough to get to stay here!
We had a super time! Allie and her family are wonderful and easygoing.
Reflecting what everyone is saying. This is a great place to stay including comfort and convenience. These friendly and polite hosts will have you coming back for your next stay in Portland. Book it, you won't regret it.
Allie and Jeff's home was our introduction to the Kenton area of Portland which we really enjoyed. The house is nice design which gives everyone plenty of space. It is a clean, comfortable, and convenient place to use as a base.
The location of the house gives access to grocery stores and public transportation. The great bakery is a few blocks away, so all services are within walking distance. We were also very surprised that it only took us 10 minutes to get from the house all the way over to 40th and Hawthorne, about the same to get downtown. There are plenty of main arteries for travel, so if it is rush hour, alternate routes are easily accessed.
Allie and Jeff are welcoming hosts. The baby Otto is lots of fun to be around, full of life and well loved happiness.
We look forward to returning!
Paul and I enjoyed our stay at Allie's, she made our stay very comfortable. The bedroom and bath were very clean. We loved the location of the house because it had close access to a park, stores and restaurants. We appreciate all Allie did and hope there's an opening next time we return.

Allie, and her entire household, greeted me with so much warmth! I felt at ease from the moment I walked in the door, and loved my space in her home! The description is accurate, very clean; also very comfortable. Allie was also so generous to share her space with me in the kitchen, for my boxes tea and dates, etc. And I loved sharing conversation, too, over oatmeal in the mornings. Allie was eager to share her favorite places within the city and surrounding areas with me, which helped me pack so much into my Portland visit. A great place/home/family!
Allie and Jeff are great people and their son Otto is a dang cute baby. They were so kind to us during our stay, they were very helpful and fun to talk to. Their house is really cute and very clean, especially considering they have a dog and a baby. Super pleasant experience, whole heartedly recommend staying here.
Our stay with Allie and Jeff was great! They're very welcoming and down to Earth. We stayed for 5 nights straight and they were very upbeat and helpful the entire time. They gave us great tips on good places to grab a quick bite to eat (sandwiches at New Seasons Market), some breakfast (Cup and Saucer, Posies), some unique places to go (Kennedy School: Brewpub Theater, Historic Columbia Highway, Cannon Beach) and even let us borrow their galoshes when we went to the coast.
Their son Otto may be the cutest baby in Portland, their dog Cinder is probably the most calm and quiet dog I've met, and their cat Evy is a reliable source of purring (if desired - otherwise the pets go pretty much unseen/unnoticed).
Overall it is an AirBnB true to its' advertisement: Clean Room n' Bathroom.
The bed is comfy with plenty of space in the room for my fiancee and I to spread out five days'-worth of stuff. The bathroom and shower are nice and clean as posted.
Our stay was exactly what we were looking for!
