The best thing about this two-level home is the LARGE OPEN LIVING AREA with 25 ft ceilings and beautiful crown moldings from 1910s.
A full kitchen with Stainless Steel refrigerator and microwave.
4 Bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one with double vanity sinks.
One of the largest apartments in Downtown at 2,900 sq ft.
The Exchange Building, completed in 1910 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, was refitted in 1996 to house 202 attractive efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments, penthouses, and handicap equipped units. While the building has undergone a series of renovations, every effort has been made to preserve its historic features, such as the original mosaic tiles, an early-1900’s era Tennessee marble staircase, the elaborate plasterwork, and the granite surfaces. The towering marble ceilings of the lobby exude the elegance of downtown living.
Located in the heart of the Downtown Neighborhood – near the nightlife, restaurants, and shopping – our apartments are the ideal home base for exploring the city. Living in a 19-story skyscraper allows a breathtaking view of the Mississippi River. Walk outside and explore the rich, dense neighborhood. Fine dining is offered within blocks at renowned restaurants such as Rendezvous!, The Majestic Grille, or Flights. Enjoy a pint at the neighborhood Irish pub, The Brass Door, or make the three-minute drive to Beale Street and relish in its famous bars such as Silky O’Sullivans, Alfred’s, or Bardog Tavern. You could also take the trolley to Beale St, to the Pyramid, or around the downtown area, since there is a trolley stop a block away.
The apartments provide a homey feel with a luxurious touch and high-quality amenities. Several of the units located on the higher floors provide our residents a spectacular view. Units come with a kitchen, fully equipped with refrigerator, microwave, oven/stove, pots/pans, and dishes. The Management office on the first floor is ready to assist you during business hours, and, as many of my residents already know, I am always just a phone call away. A laundry room with coin-operated machines and a gym on the top floor are easily accessible through the three elevators.
There are public metered spots all around the building. Since parking is not always available, we provide parking passes for a nearby parking garage (1 block away) at the price of $10/day. Note that these prices are non-negotiable since the garage is operated by a separate business.
Situated at an unbeatable location with competitive pricing, our apartments are a click away from becoming your future home or weekend getaway. There are public metered spots all around the building. Since there is not always metered parking available, there are covered parking garages within a block or less of the building. Note that the prices for these garages are non-negotiable since the garages are operated by a separate business.
The building is lovely and in an awesome location within walking distance of shops, sights and restaurants. The unit was also nice but could definitely use updated furniture and carpet replacement. Would visit again!
Great place! Easy check-in, great location, nice and clean. I would stay here again.
The condo was an amazing historic space that matched the listing exactly. The hosts were polite and made us feel welcome upon arrival. The exchange building is moments away from a variety of great Memphis attractions and we had a blast.
This apartment was great for a big group. All 5 beds and the couches were very comfortable. It was very easy, no hassle check in and check out. Parking in the garage or on the street was super easy. The place was definitely finished, although the building is going through remodeling (no noise, just some unfinished touches). It is in a VERY good location. one block from main st in memphis and maybe 5 blocks from beale st. Very close to both Rendevous BBQ and AutoZone Park. It met our needs perfectly.
The reservation was canceled 102 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The kindness and hospitality was not lost on us, we definitely appreciated it! Somehow there was a mixup and we got put into a 3 bedroom instead of the one I've been asked to review.
The architecture of the old cotton gin is amazing, eloquent and elaborate. The beds were comfy and there was heat, thank god because there was an ice storm. The location is PERFECT, near Beale street, Peabody hotel and Rendezvous restaurant, 3 must dos if you are in Memphis.
The tv didn't work, and although there were great directions to get to the building, it would be great to have a printout of how to work the tv and such in the apartment. It looked like the apartment was still being worked on, but it was clean. also, make sure there is toilet paper and stuff when you get in!
Lastly, in the apartment we stayed in, the walls didn't go to the roof, so it truly is open, and you can hear things, if you are a light sleeper, bring cover up for eyes and ear plugs!
I would definitely come back, but stay int the apartment we were supposed to be in!
The host was great and communicated very well. The apartment was beautiful and roomy and in the perfect location in downtown Memphis . We had a lovely stay and lacked nothing!

I was born in Uzbekistan and raised in Memphis. I'm the middle child, with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters -- and recently a 4 time uncle! I've been fortunate to travel the world in my early years and learned a lot about the different cultures around the world. I enjoy learning about geopolitical history, architecture, and technological advancements that benefit the myriad societies around the globe. To me, Memphis is an exciting city that competes with the great cities of the world as a worthwhile stop for play and leisure. Allow me to host you in my apartments, located in the historic Exchange Building in downtown Memphis.
