My apartment is on the 23rd floor. You should take this into consideration if you have toddlers or young children.
Absolutely perfect apartment / complex / location. Honestly can't fault our stay. From meeting us at late night arrivals, late arvo departures, giving us lots of local tips, stocking the apartment with lots complimentary sundries and groceries, Sew Eng and her husband are beyond accommodating. Excellent Air BnB'er. Can't wait to come back.
The unit is fantastic. Nearly new apartment that has everything you need for a perfect stay. The hosts are great and go that extra mile to make your stay perfect. The apartment is close to Komtar and transport is not a problem. We usually stay at 5 star hotels but this apartment was 5 stars at a 3 star price. Wish we had stayed longer here and less at Bangkok.
Sew and Martin were lovely hosts. They gave us a lot of recommendations of what to see and do and where to eat. The apartment was perfect for us because it was in a central location and it was really comfortable- just like being at home! Thank you to Sew and Martin for keeping such a lovely place. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever to come to Penang again.
We feel blessed that we had the opportunity to share Sew Eng and Martin's apartment. Every thing about this experience (our first with (website hidden))was fabulous from beginning to end.
There is so much to see and do in Penang, and Times Square is the perfect location to explore Georgetown.
The apartment is spotless and Sew Eng is a caring and thoughtful host. We look forward to out return!
Sew Eng and Martin were super helpful and friendly hosts, who made every effort to ensure our stay was comfortable. They even took the effort to show us around the area and familiarise ourselves with our surrounding amenities. Everything in the apartment were better than we expected and if given a chance to return to Penang, I'll not hesitate to book this apartment again!
Sew was incredibly helpful, timely, and communicative on our trip. The apartment is gorgeous, and worth every penny of the price. Sew picked us up from the airport, saving us a trip to the apartment and took a lot of time to give us details on everything. The perfect host!
This is the best apartment I have stayed in through Airbnb. Sew Eng was very very accommodating and even provided drinks and snacks for us. The apartment is near local heritage sites and local hawker food (Lorong Baru). When I left the apartment, I left a travel pillow behind and Sew Eng took the trouble to contact me to return it to me. The apartment itself is fantastic, with 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms. You can get fast Internet access at reception at Level 5.
Appartment has been very nice, we had a pleasant stay and everything was fine.
The rooms are spacious and the bedrooms cool and calm.
Location of Times Square in the center of Georgetown has a lot of advantages.
We also appreciate for supplying us with a "starter kit" of fruits and beverages, what made our stay even more comfortable.
I stayed for three nights over the weekend in July 2013 with my husband an two children aged 14 and 6. The apartment is just lovely. It is spacious, luxurious and clean with all inventory new and tasteful. The two bedrooms are well seperated, and you could easily stay two couples, as well. Towels were big and soft, bathroom had shampoo, soap etc and when we arrived the kitchen was stocked up with water, juice, coffee and nice little treats. The view over Georgetown from the 23rd floor is stunning. The whole Times Square complex is well staffed and well maintained. The pool is huge and pool area has lots of sun if one likes to sun bathe. Fitness facilities are good. As other reviewers have mentioned it would be nice with wifi within the apartment, but on the other hand the wifi on the 5th floor common area is super fast - something that is a rare commodity in Malaysia!
Sew Eng and her husband Martin are really nice and friendly people and communication was excellent. They wrote and told us prior to check in that there had been problems with the satelite tv provider, which meant that satelite channels wasn't working during our stay. They offered us a discount, which I think was a cool and upfront thing to do.
Times Square is situated on the border of the heritage area, but since Georgetown is not that big we found that everything we wanted to see was within fair walking distance. Just across the street is the famous halker food street New Lane with lots of good and cheap food.
We loved the apartment and the lively Georgetown and hope to go back and stay here again.
This was my first time to stay in an airbnb member’s apartment and my experience was uniformly positive. First, the apartment itself exceeded my expectations in terms of its size and level of comfort. It was very luxurious with two large bedrooms (one of which was en suite) with double beds, dressing tables and large wardrobes. Views from the lounge and my bedroom were wonderful as they overlooked traditional Georgetown below and Penang Hill in the distance. The apartment was comfortably furnished with new furniture and fittings, including a fully functioning kitchenette as well as facilities to wash clothes. The level of cleanliness and attention to detail was impeccable. In terms of value for money against a hotel, there is no doubt that this is a far better deal as you have the space and privacy that arguably only a suite could offer. It was certainly more than enough for the single traveller and could easily accommodate a couple or small family. The apartment itself is situated on a mall (Times Square) where there is a large selection of eateries and shops spread over two floors. On the lower floors of the apartment block, there are gym, sauna and swimming pool facilities. Interestingly, these facilities were not busy at all, even on the weekend, which added to the sense of peace and comfort. The central location was very convenient with plenty of attractions within walking distance. Georgetown now has UNESCO world heritage status and in parts of the town it felt like I was stepping back in time. Street vendors sell all manner of dishes and many traditional houses have been adapted for retail while still retaining their original charm. Temples of different denominations are within walking distance of Times Square. Old colonial buildings are still in use and many have been renovated and reoccupied either as residences or commercial sites. To go further afield, transportation is necessary, and although public transport exists, private means are preferable. My hosts were both gracious and generous with their time and were only too happy to accompany and recommend places of interest. I had no right to expect such kindness but I am very grateful that they did. For families, car hire is probably the best option if you want to visit places beyond the town centre, such as Penang Hill or the beaches. In general, the traffic is not so busy but be prepared for a relatively large number of motorbikes, and for spikes in traffic volume around rush hour. This was the first time that I’ve visited Penang but it will certainly not be the last. When I return, I fully intend to rent this property again. I would also unreservedly recommend this apartment to anyone else who is intending to stay in Penang, and the quality of welcome from the kind hosts.
