Nice location. The house was unfortunately not in the greatest shape. THe carpet is suuuuper old. It feels quite congested inside and my asthma was def not liking it. There were all sorts of stains on the really dated furniture. Further more the sink in the bathroom blocked up causing dirty water to fill it up. It was 'due to a plumbing issue' that was apparently known. Luca did attempt to get he right people to fix it but it was several days before anything got fixed. In addition the bathroom tub doesn't drain well, leaving a lot of water to slowly drain post shower. I usually don't expect much but this was Not the greatest experience.
Ab was right about the plumbing and it is unfortunate that Duke Tower went through a management change in the month before his arrival. We were getting used to a new system and the staff is still full of untested employees.
Earlier reviews show a different perspective but i have full confidence that the new board will repair all and erase all inconveniences.
Luca was very welcoming and accommodating, and the room and location were just as described. Plenty of linens, functionally equipped kitchen, plenty of room at least for two. The facility was very pleasant, and it was great to be close to so many things. We really enjoyed our stay!
Lucia's apartment in the historic duke towers was perfect for our friends wedding weekend. The room was clean with great views of a flowering dogwood from the front window. The courtyard gardens offered a relaxing outdoor space. I would definitely stay and recommend friends to stay with Luca.
Luca was a very friendly and helpful host - we didn't meet him, only because it wasn't needed. The apartment was much larger than it appeared on the pictures which was a nice surprise as we stayed two adult and two small kids there. It worked out just fine! We were walking to everything we needed during our five weeks stay - grocery shopping, café, playgrounds, campus etc. which is possible because of the location right in the middle of everything.
A recommendable place to stay in Durham!
