The Space

We are pleased to welcome you to our unique place. The cottage is located on a hillside in the middle of a virgin Mediterranean shrub forest and offers a beautiful view of the valley and the vineyards. It is on the border of the Cevennes National Park, nearby the middle ages town of Anduze.

The cottage was built in the 16st century and was used by local wine grape farmers until recently. It was renovated in 2008 and is now the perfect place to stay if you want to spend a great holiday in the region.

We offer a full equipped cottage that combines comfort, calm, and relaxation in nature.
The cottage has a bedroom with a double bed and a living room with a single sleeper sofa and pull-out twin trundle bed. The living room features a full kitchen, and there is a bathroom with a shower and WC/toilet.

The cottage 45 m² and is perfect for a couple or a family with up to two children. It's located on the ground floor and has a private terrace, a shared garden/yard, and a shared swimming pool.

We rent the cottage on a weekly basis, from Saturday to Saturday.
It is only accessable by car, which you can rent in Ales (by Avis) by the train station, or in Montpellier and Nimes by the train station or airport.

  • The cottage was wonderful. The pictures are very accurate. A lovely tasteful decor which we did not want to leave. The terrace was lovely for lunch or enjoying an evening meal. The swimming pool was lovely and we loved just sitting on the chairs relaxing and reading. The views of the vineyards below truly stunning. Martine was lovely and gave us lots of tips of places to visit and days of local markets. We went to St Jean du Gard and Uzes. Both very different but fantastic. Martine we miss it so much you are so lucky to live in such a wonderful place. We were lucky to meet Nicholas who was down for the weekend from Paris and he was a charming host also. We were invited to drinks on the upstairs balcony one evening with Martine, Nicholas and some Canadian guests which was a lovely touch.

  • We had a wonderful time at the cottage in Bagard! The house was just like in the pictures, beautiful garden and a amazing pool!
We would definitely go back in the future.

Nicolas and his mother were great hostess. Martin, Nicolas mother, was not at home. But both contacted us via mail and text message. When there were questions they instantly searched for solutions.
Martin arranged some baby stuff for our baby girl, with was very (website hidden). the bakery in Bargard has delicious bread and croissants, back home I already miss it...

    Response from Nicolas:

    Hoi Loes,

  • My family and I rented this Gite(the smaller of the two) to visit my father's hometown in Ales, and we were truly lucky to have found such a beautiful place to stay with such accommodating and charming hosts.

The gite itself was well equipped with everything we needed, and if there was anything extra we needed we could simply ask Martine, who lives directly above the gite, if we could borrow it. The beds were big and comfortable, every room and utility was clean, and the view over the vineyard and distant villages was spectacular. There's a wonderful lawn to read a book on and a beautiful pool that overlooks the valley below. The place was a little difficult to find, but there's a sign marked "Grimmer" that showed us the way as we drove through the hills.

The house is also near many attractions such as the Grottes de Trabuc and La Bambouseraie, as well as smaller villages with quaint restaurants and parks, beautiful roads to drive through the hills, and wild forests. We visited just about everything in the area and spent the final day and a half lying in the sun by the pool reading.

Martine was so wonderfully helpful at recommending restaurants, places to see, and outdoor markets in nearby towns. Anything we wondered about or needed help discovering, she made such an amazing effort to research and give us details on how to see it. Nicolas arrived the day after we arrived and cleaned the pool out for us, and was an all around awesome person. In fact, we got along so well with Martine and Nicolas that on our last night there we all had an apero and their balcony and dinner on the terrasse together after, paired with wine and lit candles.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in the south of France, and I hope to stay again in the near future.

We spent a very pleasent week in this place. The house is very well equiped, the garden is very beautiful, there is a ping pong table and a pool for athletes. Everything perfect for farniente. And Martine, the hostess, is a charming women

The cottage is part of a beautiful property with a stunning view over the vineyards.
It is fully equipped (coffee-, washingmashne, dishwasher, barbecue etc.) and the interior is decorated gorgeously and with much love. Martine has great taste, everything inside matches the old stone house.
She is an incredibly warm and friendly host - we already miss her lovely smile.
We originally planned traveling much more but since the place was so beautiful and comforting we nearly spent our whole holiday at the house, just relaxing at the pool.
So in short: We highly recommend this place!!
It's just perfect to have a relaxing vacation in a lovely, quiet place, with a perfect pool, a beautiful view and the world's best host you can have.

Hi, I'm Nicolas, 32, and I rent my living room in Paris and my mother's cottages in the south of France. I like languages and cultures. I lived several years in Berlin and in Utrecht (The Netherlands) and now I am back in Paris. Last but not least, I like meeting new people from different backgrounds and different countries and show them some of the great things that Paris has to offer. If you have questions, don't hesitate, we can chat in French, English, German or Dutch. Just come to visit us, whether in my cozy Parisian home or in my mother's cottage in the beautiful and sunny south of France!
