Located in South Kona, this Kona Paradise home is a wonderful place to come relax, cook a nice meal and watch the sunset on our enclosed covered lanai. Enjoy our very peaceful 2 bd/2ba home. Pebble Beach is just a short drive down the hill where one can swim and snorkel as well as hike the King's Trail along the coast. Hookena Beach is just 5 miles north and is often the location where the dolphins come to play. We are about a 45 minute drive through beautiful coffee farm lands to the town of Kailua-Kona. Volcanoes National Park and Green Sands Beach is about an 1 hr to 1.5 hours south.
The house has a large flat screen TV with a netflix account for movie watching. Private Bathroom and King size bed in Master bedroom with views of the ocean from the lanai. Kitchen comes equipped with the Ninja blender ( great for making smoothies or mango margaritas!!)
What else can I say except that this house is truly a wonderful place to relax.
You will have access to the entire house for yourself. House is located at dead end street with no other houses to the right or in front. Very quiet and peaceful location.
Interaction with Guests
We try our best to welcome guests from the beginning in order to show details regarding the house. Depending on length of stay, we also make an effort to furfill the drinking water bottles.
Kona Paradise is a very safe and clean neighborhood. Access to Pebble beach at bottom of hill is one of my favorite beaches. Sometimes it is a bit rough and the current is to strong to swim in but one can always stay at the shore and let the waves roll you around on the pebbles. Very special and fun! Also some nice hiking along the coast line to the left. You are guaranteed to see some wild goats.
Unfortunately, the Big Island does not have very public transit. It is a must to have a car for getting around.
Other Things to Note
The closest grocery store is about 20 minutes north in the heart of Captain Cook called Choicemart. Wonderful selection of local fresh food. Every Sunday morning till 2pm, is a wonderful farmers market located just one block north of Choicemart. Also, located about one mile south on the main highway from the top of Kona paradise subdivision is a nice fruit stand situated on left side of road. Nice selection with good prices.
Number one house rule is to relax and enjoy!
Do not drink tap water- okay for taking showers or brushing teeth. We are on water catchment. We provide drinking water in bottles in kitchen. Since we are dependent on the rain for water, we ask guests to be mindful of water use. Also, electricity comes at a very high price so we also ask guests to be mindful of this too. We have a clothes line under house for hang drying clothes.
Prefer for furniture to not be moved as well as no large parties.
Guy, the host, was French, very entertaining and informative. We enjoyed talking to him. The place is simple, quiet, aways away from the town of Captain Cook. The screened porch has a great view of the ocean from high up the mountain side. Good place to sit for a meal or a drink and watch the water, sunset, boats, etc. The washer/dryer was very handy. We loved the geckos we saw.
I really enjoyed my 7 night stay at Delphine's house. The house was well maintained and clean. The views were great. There were lots of birds, geckos and even a few wild pigs that could be viewed from the beautiful lanai. Guy was a great host and provided info on local spots not to be missed. The house is as pictured.
It was a wonderfull time. Guy was a great host and everything was clean and as suscribed. When we come back to big Island we will take this house again.
This space was really special, and Delphine's dad Guy was a lovely host. We watched the sunset from our perch on the lanai every evening, and even heard whales slapping their tails on the ocean from our bedroom. Being able to borrow snorkeling gear was really helpful, and Guy offered some really great suggestions on local spots to explore. The small community where the house sits is about 10 miles from the closest restaurant or grocery store, but that suited us just fine. We like to pretend that we're not actually tourists, and this spot was perfect.
We had a wonderful time in Kona Paradise. It was even better then the pictures.... the end of a small quiet street, with the curve of the ocean below. We loved waking up and going to sleep with the sound of wild pebble beach. The house has everything you'll need for cooking and if you're into watching a late night movie there's lots of channels to choose from. It's just the right distance to be out of the way, but not to far from all the best snorkeling, beaches and our favorite the Arches Hiking Trail along the coast......amazing! Our host was VERY friendly and full of good suggestions of places to see. We would have stayed longer if we could and will definitely go back.
We all loved the Kona Paradise and Guy ( Delphine's father) most welcoming suggestions and stories. The house is beautiful and was neat and clean. The view was spectacular and ambiance perfect for a most enjoyable and relaxing vacation. The house is 14 miles from the local supermarket but it didn't now bother us as we were out exploring various sections of Big Island. I would return and stay here again. Thank you Guy for all your knowledge and suggestions to make our stay on Big Island so much fun. We loved it! mahalo !
The description was accurate and the home was welcoming. We had no difficulty finding the house at all and used it as a base station for our exploration of the island. Guy was present frequently with helpful tips and suggestions for places to see though we usually wanted to follow our own plans. It was 'winter' so mosquitos weren't an issue and our kids had fun with the geckos that roamed freely.
The view from the Lanai was fantastic and we loved watching for whales while sipping coffee in the morning. We felt very welcome in the home.
As for the location it's important to know that it's on the Kona side of the island and not the Hilo side. It's in a subdivision about 1/4 mile away from the ocean up the side of the island. Stop at the grocery store before you get there because it's a long ways away (12 miles or more).
We had no issues with the cistern water (there was plenty of hot water for showers and baths for five people for five days) and Guy supplied us with plenty of drinking water.
I'm originally from Paris, France but grew up in Washington State where I learned to appreciate the beautiful outdoors. Now I live on the Big Island of Hawaii which is an amazing place to enjoy what nature has to offer. I love to hike, swim, cook, dance, yoga and just simply relax with a glass of rose wine in my hand and watch the sunsets!
