About this listing

The space

Located in South Kona, this Kona Paradise home is a wonderful place to come relax, cook a nice meal and watch the sunset on our enclosed covered lanai. Enjoy our very peaceful 2 bd/2ba home. Pebble Beach is just a short drive down the hill where one can swim and snorkel as well as hike the King's Trail along the coast. Hookena Beach is just 5 miles north and is often the location where the dolphins come to play. We are about a 45 minute drive through beautiful coffee farm lands to the town of Kailua-Kona. Volcanoes National Park and Green Sands Beach is about an 1 hr to 1.5 hours south.
The house has a large flat screen TV with a netflix account for movie watching. Private Bathroom and King size bed in Master bedroom with views of the ocean from the lanai. Kitchen comes equipped with the Ninja blender ( great for making smoothies or mango margaritas!!)
What else can I say except that this house is truly a wonderful place to relax.

Guest access

You will have access to the entire house for yourself. House is located at dead end street with no other houses to the right or in front. Very quiet and peaceful location.

Interaction with guests

We try our best to welcome guests from the beginning in order to show details regarding the house. Depending on length of stay, we also make an effort to furfill the drinking water bottles.

Other things to note

The closest grocery store is about 20 minutes north in the heart of Captain Cook called Choicemart. Wonderful selection of local fresh food. Every Sunday morning till 2pm, is a wonderful farmers market located just one block north of Choicemart. Also, located about one mile south on the main highway from the top of Kona paradise subdivision is a nice fruit stand situated on left side of road. Nice selection with good prices.

Number one house rule is to relax and enjoy!
Do not drink tap water- okay for taking showers or brushing teeth. We are on water catchment. We provide drinking water in bottles in kitchen. Since we are dependent on the rain for water, we ask guests to be mindful of water use. Also, electricity comes at a very high price so we also ask guests to be mindful of this too. We have a clothes line under house for hang drying clothes.
Prefer for furniture to not be moved as well as no large parties.

The house was comfortable, well-equipped, and Guy (Delphine's father) was a very thoughtful host. We did need to plan ahead for groceries and activities, since either required a drive. We spent the majority of our time on the lanai in the evenings, enjoying the ocean view and breeze, a great way to relax after a day of snorkelling or sight-seeing. Our family enjoyed the quiet environment, away from the bustle of Kona. We had a great vacation staying here!

Delphine's place is a nice choice if you are seeking a more eco-friendly, authentic Hawaiian stay as opposed to up-scale resort stays. Loved the sunset view, a high overlook over the ocean. Peaceful feel with a few singing birds. No A/C, which might have made getting to sleep easier, but cooled off nicely as the evening progressed. Guy is a wealth of advice and information--eager to please his guests.

Location was great for what I wanted to do. Delphine's father was overly attentive for a single woman traveler. I received several messages suggesting that we spend time together that made it uncomfortable to hangout at the place. When I left for an early morning excursion he came in & went through the entire house, describing everything that he noticed of my belongings upon my return. I wanted to sleep on the porch but after his messages I didn't feel comfortable sleeping next to the screen door where I worried he would appear. A group traveling together or couple would probably be fine & charmed. As a woman traveling alone I was just eager to be out of the house.

Response from Delphine:
Hi Marianne, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. My Father enjoys being in contact with his guests and often invites them to do things so that he can show them around. He is very friendly and very talkative too. He likes to be charming and can sometimes come across flirtatious especially with his French accent but I assure you that he is completely harmless. I do understand how you could've felt being alone in the (URL HIDDEN) a woman I've definitely had my share of uncomfortable situations even if there was no real threat. Please feel free to call me if you'd like to chat about it more. Sorry for the inconvenience. Delphine (Guy's Daughter)

Guys 'Kona Paradise' place is just that, a PARADISE! We had many (too many) things planned in our short 3.5 day stay and actually cancelled some things so we could just stay and enjoy the place because it is that great! Guy is very kind and genuinely interested in his guests needs, comfort, and enjoyment while on the island. He takes great care and pride in this home and it shows. Be sure to take a morning hike down to Pebble Beach and along Kings Trail. It's stunning and so private, and have meals on the lanai to watch the sunset & panoramic views! Thanks for everything, Guy, and we look forward to coming back soon.

Delphine's father Guy was waiting for us when we arrived on a dark, rainy night. He gave us a warm welcome and entertained us with amusing, informative tales and facts about himself and the Big Island. The house was situated on a hill south of Captain Cook on the southwest side of the island. It overlooked the Pacific Ocean, giving us an absolutely beautiful sunset and comfortable breeze on the wrap-around balcony. It was ideally located for exploration of the west and south coasts: one hour from the Kona International Airport and 1.5 hours from the Volcanoes National Park. The rooms were clean, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the living room was comfortable with a cable TV. Equipments for various water sports were available. It was a wonderful stay for our family of four. It is highly recommended.

What an amazing place. The peace, beauty and location of this house cant be beat if you are looking to relax. We spent the majority of our week at the big island just hanging around the house and enjoying the view. Guy is a great host and if very informative. We really enjoyed getting to know him. He is funny, witty and generally a special person. Our best vacation ever.

I'm originally from Paris, France but grew up in Washington State where I learned to appreciate the beautiful outdoors. Now I live on the Big Island of Hawaii which is an amazing place to enjoy what nature has to offer. I love to hike, swim, cook, dance, yoga and just simply relax with a glass of rose wine in my hand and watch the sunsets!
