About this listing
I live in a fully furnished, clean and comfortable two bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor of a quiet complex that sits on a hill.
The furnished patio with amazing views overlooks the city of Woodland Hills and the Santa Monica mountains.
Your room faces the hillside and gets a lot of sunlight. It has a closet, dressers, and a queen size bed that comfortably sleeps two (linens included). A private bathroom is attached, with towels and basic toiletries.
The community itself has two swimming pools, sun decks, two hot tubs, a gym, four BBQ grills, and even a fireplace that would all be available for you.
I will make a convenient covered/garage parking spot available for you.
In the apartment and common areas:
- Directv TV with HD programming and an HD DVR
- Wifi enabled internet access
- Washer/Dryer (hidden in the patio)
- The kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans/plates and all the appliances you'll need.
You're welcome to make yourself at home; if there's anything else you need, just ask.
Interaction with Guests
When you arrive I'll give you a little tour of the apartment and show you where everything is.
If you have time, we'll also walk around the community and I'll show you how to get to the pools, gym, hot tubs etc.
After that, its pretty much up to you :). I am happy to chat and talk about the area, or things to do or not.
Grocery stores and restaurants are accessible within 5-10 minutes walking distance. About a 5 minute drive away is the Westfield Topanga Mall, an excellent shopping center with a 3D IMAX movie theater, and also the Warner Center Offices.
The 101 interstate is just minutes away.
If you bring your tennis rackets, the public courts are about a mile away. Also within a mile are tons of hiking and mountain biking trails that can take you all the way to Santa Monica beach (These trails a pretty long and are for advanced hikers or bikers only). There is access from within the community to a small hill on the south side which offers a small hike, but spectacular 360 deg views of the San Fernando Valley. Practice your Tai Chi there, or just enjoy sun rises and sun sets.
A few miles away are a couple of public golf courses, full size and 9 hole par 3s, near Balboa Park. The park itself has a man made pond with ducks, paddle boats and bike rentals. Across from the park are the Japanese Gardens, and a landing strip for flying your R/C helicopters and/or fixed wing planes.
Woodland Hills is a quiet suburb outside of Los Angeles, which itself is about 30 minutes away. There's tons to do around here, from great hiking in Topanga Canyon, beaches in Malibu and Santa Monica, and the exciting LA nightlife.
It's best to have a car.
While there is a Bus line (150) directly outside the community on Ventura Blvd, as with all of Los Angeles' public transit it is slow and tiresome.
Please take your shoes off at the door.
We have a quiet time after 10pm, which means we keep the noise and TV volume to a minimum.
I'll expect that my guests clean up after themselves, for e.g. Clean the dishes, pots, pans etc (feel free to use the dishwasher for dishes, not for the pots and pans though) once you are done eating. Including wiping down the counter tops, stove top, appliances etc that were used.
Sorry, no smoking at all.
And in general be nice :).
I have lived in and around Los Angeles for over 10 years now, after I moved to the US from India. Its been an amazing time, I have learnt, grown and decided that am not leaving!
I love my day job where I help translate Business Speak to Software Engineering and vice versa. Figuring out business problems, and providing software solutions to alleviate them is another way to describe what it is that I do everyday. Or just call it Product Management and consulting.
While one does not have to leave Los Angeles to experience natural beauty, the ocean, the ski slopes, ethnically diverse foods and such, over the past couple of years, I have traveled domestically and internationally to Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Fiji, Ireland, Amsterdam, Munich, Vienna, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Athens and Paris.
Staying active, and healthy is fun and I prefer to stay that way with activities like hiking, kayaking, swimming, skiing, motorcycle riding and many many more opportunities that LA has to offer. Otherwise you find me getting relaxing with a good book.
It does help that I love food and drink and I am always up to try a new place to eat, or a home brew of beer.
I've recently taken up meditation to exercise the mind, and live in the present and I am enjoying the process.
