Our house, in an old neighbourhood surrounded by nature, lies in the heart of the city, with the Townhall Theatre around the corner and within sight of the Salmon Weir. Ideal location for exploring Galway's shops, pubs, restaurants and nightlife, also the University campus, NUIGalway and Black Box Theatre.
This location is also an ideal starting point for a riverside walk all the way to the famous Salthill Promenade.
The room is a bright double room with an original cast iron fireplace, overlooking a small park. Character and charm, with comfort and a great location.
Facilities include wifi, street parking, cooking facilities (vegetarian kitchen only). Help yourself to tea/coffee, cereal, bread, fruit etc. In the evening if you wish to stay in, you can warm up by the turf stove. The bathroom is shared (by no more then 2 others). There is a wide range of books and magazines for you to enjoy.
I am happy to tell you some local history of our beautiful city and the river. Galway has some wonderful restaurants such as Ard Bia at Nimmos and Kai Café within easy walking distance, while Tigh Neachtins and The Beirhaus are great for a pint. The Galway Market beside St Nicholas Church is worth a ramble through on Saturdays.
Woodquay on the banks of the river Corrib, is a '5 minutes walk from everything!'
The house is 7 minute walk from the bus and train stations.
We have on-street parking 'visitor parking discs' cost €2 per day.
Sheila is the best host you can have, she and her daughter made us feel like we where in our own house, helping us to find the best restaurants and the best things to visit! The house is very well located and very nice and clean! We really hope to see you again! Thanks for everything !!
Sheila was a brilliant host, lovely to chat to and very helpful with directing us to great places around Galway. She even made us pancakes on arrival, as it was Shrove Tuesday! House very cosy and comfortable too. Highly recommend staying here.
To choose spending my 3 week stay with Sheila was such a great option!Perfectly located house halfway between the university and the city center, Sheila offers a character vintage house that soon becomes a home. Friendly and enthusiasticshe gave me the best indications to enjoy this beautiful city ... even in February! Thank you for everything! I really look forwad to meet you again in December.
We had a wonderful time staying at Sheila's house. I would even go so far as to say that it is one of our best ever experiences staying in a B&B in Ireland, definitely our best airbnb experience thus far. Sheila is a very accomodating and understanding host, we had ample use of the kitchen and sitting room and when our one year old decided that 5 am was party time she wasn't at all phased. The house itself is an old school Galway dwelling with lots of character - a nice alternative to generic b&b's and hotels. Location wise it is hard to beat for anyone who want's to see the town on foot. Would definitely stay here again when coming through Galway. Thanks Sheila for a wonderful stay.
Sheila's place in Central Galway is fantastic! We truly enjoyed staying with Sheila and her kitty cats. Her home is rich in history and Sheila is prompt with responses; kind, interesting, and very helpful with suggestions, parking and directions. The room and bathroom are comfortable and quiet and we enjoyed the cozy peat fire in the living area. Sheila also made us fresh squeezed orange juice each morning and offered nice cereals, scones, tea, coffee etc, which were unexpected, but very much appreciated! This was our first experience with airbnb and it worked out just perfect for us. Thank you Sheila!
Superb host, so warm and welcoming. Great accommodation at a great location. Will be back to stay again
Sheila was an outstanding guest: she send us a map with a detailed description of how to get to the house so we didn´t get lost once, she was always kind and suggested us nice destinations around Galway. The house is really charming, clean and close to the city centre. It was really great to stay at her place.
Sheila's home is so very close to city center in Galway. It's very easy to walk to the train/bus station, as well as the pubs, shops etc. Sheila is a lovely person, and very welcoming and helpful. The room was nice and cozy, with a very comfortable bed and places to leave our things while we were out and about. There is also a nice sitting room with a fireplace, so you can relax in your room if you want to, or enjoy a nice cup of tea and a chat by the fire. We highly recommend Sheila's place in Galway! It's a huge step up from a hostel, and a nice experience that's different from just staying in a local hotel.
Sheila's comfortable home was perfect for a week's stay in Galway. As a solo female traveler, it was delightful to return to a warm, welcoming house after a day out and about and have a good chat with Sheila over a cup of tea. Location is perfect, easy walk all around town, and comfortable walking home alone after late hours at the pub. Sheila is knowledgable about the area, her house is clean and tidy, generous and tasty breakfasts offered, including fresh oj, my bedroom spacious, comfy and quiet. Despite its central location, the house feels almost rural as it overlooks a small park and is across from a weir with swans and gulls. Highly recommend! Would love to return.
It was like coming home to friends!
Sheila was very friendly and helped us in all situations. It was all tidy and to get a second blanket was no problem. We enjoyed the fresh orangejuice in the morning!
Her house is near the center but quiet by night. We made all our ways by walking. We would come back everytime!
