I am happy to tell you some local history of our beautiful city and the river. Galway has some wonderful restaurants such as Ard Bia at Nimmos and Kai Café within easy walking distance, while Tigh Neachtins and The Beirhaus are great for a pint. The Galway Market beside St Nicholas Church is worth a ramble through on Saturdays.
Woodquay on the banks of the river Corrib, is a '5 minutes walk from everything!'
The house is 7 minute walk from the bus and train stations.
We have on-street parking 'visitor parking discs' cost €2 per day.
Guests a welcome to use the kitchen. But it is a strict Vegetarian kitchen only.
No smoking in the house please.
This was our second time staying with Sheila, and as we expected, Sheila was the perfect host. Sheila is a friendly and considerate host, and we feel completely at home when we stay with her. A wonderful experience.
Me and my girlfriend had a very pleasant stay in the hosts house. We were welcomed to the house on arrival and given a tour of the living space and introduced to the two beautiful cats also resident in the house.
Our host always had a great breakfast ready for us with a selection of cereals, scones and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Our host was also extremely helpful and offered help or advice whenever we needed it.
I would recommend this B&B to all my friends and would stay here again happily.
Två katter i huset. Det tog ca 10 minuter att promenera till Galways centrum (gågata, pubar, etc). Vägen dit var vacker längs med floden.
Sheila is a great hoast. She is very welcoming, easy going and makes you feel at home right away. She was very helpfull whenever we had any needs or questions and told us everything we needed to know about Galway including a city map where she noticed the nice bars, restaurants and nice places to visit. Me and my girlfriend stayed for 2 nights and had a really good time in Galway.
Great place to stay!!
My girlfriend and I stayed in one of Sheila's rooms for three nights and it was perfect. Warm atmosphere and lovely house in the heart of galway.
Definitely recommend staying there.
Having used Airbnb several times during our Europe trip, this was our first experience sharing a house with the owner (we previously had the rental to ourselves). We weren't sure what to expect but we didn't need to worry. Sheila was extremely lovely and made us feel welcome in her home.
The house was warm (great when coming in from the wet), clean and cosy. Every morning we would have a selection of breakfast options waiting for us, no matter what time we came down from our room. Sheila was very accommodating, letting me dry the washing in her living room and even giving us a lift to a wedding!
We really enjoyed our time in Galway and would definitely stay at Sheila's again if we head back to Galway.

Hi, I’m Sheila and I was born in this house, built by my great grandfather in 1887. Though I have a degree in Textile Design and teach art, my passion is
ecology/environment. I am co-founder of Green Sod Ireland, working to protect Irish ecosystems and that’s where I’m in my element! I am vegetarian, an animal lover and though I’ve always had dogs I how have two rescued cats. In 1987, myself and my sister bought, restored and now maintain a small Joycean museum: The Nora Barnacle House in Galway city, just a short distance from my home. I love the Visual Arts, reading and good food…… I’m easy-going and enjoy meeting new people, so looking forward to welcoming you to Galway. It’s a lovely city, more like a small town, full of culture and craic.
