I am happy to tell you some local history of our beautiful city and the river. Galway has some wonderful restaurants such as Ard Bia at Nimmos and Kai Café within easy walking distance, while Tigh Neachtins and The Beirhaus are great for a pint. The Galway Market beside St Nicholas Church is worth a ramble through on Saturdays.
Woodquay on the banks of the river Corrib, is a '5 minutes walk from everything!'
The house is 7 minute walk from the bus and train stations.
We have on-street parking 'visitor parking discs' cost €2 per day.
Guests a welcome to use the kitchen. But it is a strict Vegetarian kitchen only.
No smoking in the house please.
Sheila was a wonderful hostess. The location was great and we would happily recommend this listing to all.
Sheila was very welcoming and gave us precious information about where to eat in Galway (the best restaurant of our tour around Ireland!) and about the best way to visit the Aran Islands. The house is 10 minutes walk from the town centre, in a quiet and fascinating neighborhood. Our room was cosy, clean and extremely luminous. The breakfast was rich and nutritious: after a couple of scones each we were more than ready to explore Inish More by bike!
I'd a great time staying at Sheila's. She's a lovely host with a beautiful home, in the centre of town but in a quiet tranquil location by the river/weir. Sheila is very helpful, if needed, but also happy to give you space if preferred. I was very grateful for the late check out also...many thanks, Mark
Sheila and all her family made us really fell home for a week. We felt kind of members of the family. We stayed in the apartment during Galway Art Festival and the Art Festival Club is just opposite the street, which made it a little noisy. Sheila honestly informed us just as we booked, so there was nothing to complain about. Better than complaining, Sheila get us to go there! The Party was great there. Sheila offered nice breakfast and even nicer chats and storys with it. The room was very clean and very "arty" as the whole apartement was. Highly recommended (tough some nasty weather on our stay)!
Sheila was by far the best host we have stayed with yet! She was super helpful, provided maps and recommended all the great places to go to! Her place is very cozy, it is just a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of the bar scene and located right on the river offering picturesque views of the Corrib.
Sheila was very welcoming and easy going. She knew the local area very well and was able to answer all our questions. The bedroom was comfortable and clean, and there was a lovely breakfast waiting for us every morning.
It was a great place to stay in Galway, nice area and very convenient for the Film Fleadh!
Sheila was absolutely fantastic, so helpful, and nice, she gave us all the local info we needed, with some brilliant food and pub recommendations. Very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Breakfast each morning was perfect for us, with some local products. Full kitchen at our disposal with a vast array of teas. The freshly squeezed orange juice in the mornings was a fantastic and unexpected touch. Sheila was genuinely great fun to stay with, and her house is perfectly situated in the town, on the river and a mere 5mins to the centre of all the restaurants and shops.
The bed was possible one of the most comfortable I've stayed in. Perfect if you are looking for a relaxed, no hassle break away, Sheila will leave you be or help you navigate the city with ease.
There for the Film Fleadh, and Shelia was able to tell us where all the craic was.

About the Host, Sheila
Hi, I’m Sheila and I was born in this house, built by my great grandfather in 1887. Though I have a degree in Textile Design and teach art, my passion is
ecology/environment. I am co-founder of Green Sod Ireland, working to establish WildAcres across Ireland to create safe habitats, vital for biodiversity. I am vegetarian, an animal lover and though I’ve always had dogs I how have two rescued cats. I love the Visual Arts, reading and good food…… I’m easy-going and enjoy meeting new people, so looking forward to welcoming you to Galway. It’s a lovely city, more like a small town, full of culture and craic.
