Our experience at Maureen and toms place was wonderful. We had no issues with the house, just make sure to read the house rules before booking. Highly recommend staying here! We look forward to coming back, it was even better than advertised.
Maureen and Tom made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The cottage was clean, bright and airy. We enjoyed the quiet, the sunsets and the moon rises. The kitchen was fun to cook in and it was nice to have access to the bay right across the street. It felt very homey.
Maureen and Tom Reiss were extraordinarily sweet and informative, 100% recommended if you are looking for a place to relax and just enjoy fresh air! We arrived to a bottle of wine and lemon muffins, a variety of tea bags to choose from, a refrigerator that had milk and orange juice among other things, a freezer filled with miscellaneous things, and little post-it notes around the house with useful information. There are pots, pans, and utensils available to cook with and enough plates, glasses, mugs, and silverware for all 5 of us. The cottage came with a black handbook that was very handy, filled with information about local restaurants and things to do. We stayed here for our Labor Day Weekend beach trip and couldn't have been happier with our last minute decision! It is very close to Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach (less than 30 minutes) and it was comforting to know that Maureen and Tom weren't far away (they reside a few houses down) in case we had any problems. Thank you again for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage, we had a FANTASTIC weekend!!!
The listing was completely accurate; the house was lovely for my husband and I, our three children and our dog. It was a very quiet street, and nice to go for walks along the little beach across the street. Maureen and Tom were fantastic - very personable and easy to talk to, and very prompt in responding to email, phone calls, etc. The binder in the house offered helpful info about restaurants, local wildlife, etc. I'd highly recommend staying here as a a base for exploring the area!
We had a very relaxing and pleasant stay at this Milford property. Coming from the city it was exactly what we had hoped, quiet, uncrowded, relaxing, and a stone's throw from the water. Our young child had the ability to enjoy the yard and quiet street for a bike ride, and we could hear the waves through the night. The house was extremely child friendly and pet friendly, including some games, books, and even a little high chair that was encouraging. They even had dog treats!
Beach access is 100 yards or so from the house, across the street and yards of the houses in front. The water right in front is not ideal for swimming, but a quick 1.5 up the beach is the public parking for Slaughter beach. You can walk it and it makes a nice beach outing to walk in that direction from the house.
Maureen and Tom thoughtfully left many staples in the house for our arrival, including milk and a few beers. Check in and check out were a simple process, and they were very responsive to a few requests and concerns that came up.
We hope to return again to this little gem.
The hosts were very welcoming. They actually make a great team: Maureen is no-nonsense and Tom takes his time explaining some of the quirks of the home. The listing was really accurate and the amenities were well described and the pictures were true to life. The neighborhood was peaceful and most of the neighbors were friendly. It is a bit secluded (no places deliver, you have to drive a small ways for necessities) but the house generally includes much of what you need.
Maureen and Tom's place was great. Clean and comfortable with a beautiful deck. We had a few questions throughout the experience and they were super responsive! It made life really simple.
It's very quiet, so if you've come to party or something, this is not the spot for you. It was perfect for our weekend spent reading and cooking on the grill.
Minor thing: no DVD player or radio. So if it's rainy, just remember that they don't have these amenities. No big deal though.
