Interaction with Guests
We prefer to be able to greet our guests and share the treasures of our great community with them. We are happy to offer suggestions on great places to eat, drink, and be merry, plus fun things to do while in town. If we aren't doing anything, we'd love to walk around to show you our community firsthand, and maybe play a game and enjoy a glass of wine together at the end of the day. And if you are exhausted from your travels, feel free to retreat into the comfort of our home and have a quiet, peaceful stay.
We love to travel, for work and fun, and sometimes we have guests who want to stay in our home even when we are not around. We are happy to accommodate those who wish to stay here anyway, and will leave ample guidance for a wonderful stay in Indy.
LGBT friendly, gay friendly, straight friendly, lesbian friendly, queer friendly, trans friendly, alien friendly... basically we are friendly to anyone who is friendly!
We LOVE Fountain Square! Fun, funky, independent, and really cool & friendly folks. We are in a nice, quiet, yet gentrifying residential street, still just 6 blocks walking distance to a wide variety of local restaurants, coffee shops, bars, grocery stores, parks, shopping, entertainment, local breweries, and only 1.5 miles from downtown.
If you like the cookie-cutter monotony of the suburbs- keep looking. This is a diverse, urban neighborhood that has/is undergoing major rejuvenation for the past 10 years. Local residents like us are buying up neglected houses, renovating, and either renting or selling them. If you're familiar with other major cities, you'll feel right at home. We are in one of the safest neighborhoods in Indy.
We are a vegetarian household (no meat please), but you'll really love the plethora of options for dining downtown and in the square, for vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
The Cultural Trail connects Fountain Square to downtown Indy by foot or bicycle on a safe and friendly urban path. A 15 minute walk will get you to the thriving downtown, and there is lots more to explore when you rent one of the city's BikeShare bikes!
If you're coming into town for one of the many festivals or conferences in downtown Indy, this is the place for you. We usually walk or bike to downtown, but in winter you might prefer to catch a ride.
A cab fare from downtown is usually $10-15 including tip. There's also LYFT, another peer-to-peer taxi option. Bus stops are also nearby, but not ideal at night. Please ask for bus route suggestions, as some bus stops are much nicer than others (and we live in a BIG city).
Other Things to Note
-Vegetarian and vegan food only IN our home (we don't judge what you do outside our home.
-We have 2 dogs & a cat.
-Quiet hours are 10p - 7am.
We like to create a positive, relaxing environment in our home. Be kind & respectful of others, and bring a smile with you!
We are a proud vegetarian household, but don't let that restrict you. You are more than welcome to use anything in the kitchen and prepare food veg-style, and there are tons of great restaurants to go explore as well! Just remember that dead animals belong outside of our home.
Pretend you're in Japan. We love our new bamboo floors, and like to leave the dirt at the door.
SHHHH... QUIET TIME
Quiet hours are 10pm-7am. This means we all should assume others are sleeping, enter quietly, talk softly, and be gentle when closing doors/drawers if cooking in the kitchen. Nobody likes being cranky from lack of sleep! We also have earplugs if you're a light sleeper and forgot yours.
Bethany & Kelly were great hosts. We booked with them on super short notice and were able to accommodate. They even had homemade muffins for us! Yum! The bed was extremely comfy.
Kelly and Bethany's place was perfect for my stay. I was only in town for a few days during a conference downtown and the home was a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the conference. The house was a short walk or cheap Uber ($5-6) from the convention center. The restaurants in the area were fantastic. Highly recommend visiting milktooth on the way downtown for a great breakfast. Thank you so much Kelly for a great stay. Wish I would have had a little more time to meet.
I spent three wintry days in Indianapolis, but my room here was always toasty and comfortable. The bed made for deep sleep; I slept 10 hours one night. The location near Fountain Square was extra-convenient. Best of all, Bethany and Kelly were enthusiastic, attentive hosts who invited me to make their home mine and who provided solid tips about the neighborhood and local dining. Their two dogs, who stay in a different part of the house and whom I only saw for a few minutes each day, were a happy addition to my experience. If I return to Indianapolis, I'll definitely stay here again.
Beautiful home and warm, friendly, vivacious hosts. Bethany and Kelly are wonderful - so full of life! They made me feel like family - even going so far as inviting me to a holiday get together.
Home is in a great location close to center of Fountain Sq. Will definitely stay here again if I'm ever back in Indy.
We had such a great time here! Bethany and Kelly were very welcoming. We got in late and slept in, they were so kind! We wish we had more time in Indianapolis so we could have taken them up on the invite for coffee. The house was beautiful, bed was comfy. I loved their sweet pets. Especially the cat, Eve. We would definitely stay here again!
Staying with Bethany and Kelly was the best choice I've ever made when planning my trip to Indy. They are the most amazing hosts: welcoming, helpful, friendly... The house location is great and the house itself is beautiful! My room was so cosy and the mattress so comfort that somedays I just wanted to stay in enjoying it. I have no doubt that whenever I come back I'll stay with them again! Thank you so much!!!
Staying with Bethany and Kelly was just great. They are a delightful couple - fun to spend time with and super helpful. The house is lovely with a nice contemporary feel, and the bed is amazingly comfortable. Fountain Square is an interesting eclectic neighborhood with an artsy urban vibe, and the house is within easy walking distance. If you like dogs, you'll enjoy meeting Chopper, who is really mellow, and there is a new puppy, too! All in all, I had a terrific time. You will too!

About Kelly + Bethany: We are a loving, vegetarian couple with an organic vegetable garden, all natural cleaning products, and a strong connection to living a simple life. We live as sustainably as possible, and try to share our eco-values with others to improve our environment. We also LOVE cooking vegetarian and vegan for both our friends and for clients with health issues. We are outdoorsy and energetic, but we also enjoy relaxing in the back yard with a bottle of red wine, and the dogs, or playing Scrabble or Carcassonne with friends. Mostly, we appreciate each day, and enjoy a very optimistic view of life.
Our motto? Love every single day of your life.
