About this listing
We are very touched by the amazing reviews for our ensuite double loft room, with some guests saying it is their best Airbnb experience. It is private, bright, and newly refurbished, with beautiful views of our road and further afield. Our lovely family home is a short bus ride or 17 minute stroll to Bath, with free parking and our own local village of Bear Flat. Many Airbnb guests have all said our photos do not do the room justice, so please read our reviews to help you make a decision!
We only just recently moved into our family home, which was in amazing condition but there are still a few finishing touches to be done. It is a beautiful, spacious home and very precious to us. We have been delighted by the kind reviews we have had for our Airbnb.
Our Edwardian house has a south-facing front garden, looking on to beautiful Georgian houses. Wisteria climbs up the front of the house. We leave our shoes at the door or in the closet in the playroom, to keep the carpets clean for the children.
On the ground floor we have a large living room with a corner sofa and a flat screen TV and DVD player.
Your loft has a comfortable double bed with an ensuite bathroom with shower and bath. It is beautifully sunny and light, but the blinds block out all light when you want to sleep. There is a small table and two chairs. A small laptop desk and/or travel cot can be provided if necessary.
You have access to the ground floor living room as well as your ensuite bedroom. There is a sofa and television.
You are welcome to use the kitchen if you tidy up after yourself. However, the kitchen won't be available between 12-12.30 or 5.30-6.30pm as this is when we feed our children. We have an aga, conventional oven and hob, but no microwave.
Interaction with guests
We will be there to greet you and answer any questions you have, but we have two small children, and therefore have our hands rather full at all times. We also understand you have come to see Bath and not us, and want you to feel you have your privacy.
There is free parking on our street and a pub and Tescos at the end of the road. You are a short stroll from Bear Flat Village which has a widely acclaimed probably soon-to-be Michelin star restaurant called Menu Gordon Jones, delicatessens, cafes, Co-op and an amazing antique/seconds shop called Rolfeys. On Saturdays Rolfeys get their new stock in and there are incredible finds.
We have only been in Bath a short time but can highly recommend The Circus Restaurant for a romantic night out, The Scallop Shell fish (and chip) restaurant for eat in or take away, The Mint Room for curry, and the White Heart Inn in Widcombe. Bath itself is obviously incredible, one of only two cities in the world classified as a World Heritage Site with its ancient and modern spas to visit. Bath Thermae Spa is an incredibly place to visit, and the roof top pool is spectacular.
Bath Spa train station, which is essentially on the edge of central Bath, is 17 minutes walk down the hill, or there is a bus stop at the end of our road which takes you into Bath. Walking back is obviously more challenging as it is uphill. There is free parking on our road, and you can obviously park in Bath itself.
There is free parking on our road and surrounding roads, and a bust stop at the end of our road into Bath and to Bath Spa station.
Other things to note
Our children go to bed around 7.30pm, and usually sleep until 7am. One of us sleeps with them every night due to our first child's previous medical issues. The loft room is not above their bedroom and therefore you are unlikely to hear them, or them you in the night.
This room is for two people only, unless by prior agreement i.e. an additional child we would have to agree in advance.
No shoes in the house.
No smoking in the house.
Treat our home with respect ie no disruptive behaviour, leave things in the state that you found them, etc.
You are welcome to use the kitchen if you tidy up after yourself. However, the kitchen won't be available between 12-12.30 or 5.30-6.30pm as this is when we feed our children as it is rather messy then! In the mornings you are welcome at any time.
Hot water is available 5-9pm and 7-10pm only. Outside of these times you will need to request extra hot water.
We like to provide guests with as pristine linen as possible. We regret we will have to charge you if you permanently stain our linen e.g. with food or makeup.
