Hi there, we'd love for you to come and stay at our pretty and unique home in East London.

THE HOUSE
Both being artists of various kinds we have tried to fill our house with interesting objects and curiosities. We have created our home to be as cozy, colourful and interesting as we can - it being an old primary school gave us a great heads start and it already has loads of character. We have a lovely GARDEN and PARKING SPACE out the front, both pretty rare in London! There's 1 DOUBLE BED in the large bedroom upstairs and a very comfy DOUBLE SOFA BED downstairs. The bathroom has a bath and shower and the kitchen has all the usual mod-con, plus a washing machine/dryer you are welcome to use.

MAO THE CAT
We have a little black cat called Mao who is very friendly and she will undoubtedly show off her excellent tree climbing skills at any given opportunity! If you'd like to stay in our home we would need you to fill her bowl with food and water when it's empty (once a day or less). She's pretty good and doesn't gobble it down in one go so she's very easy to look after - and in return she will definitely keep you amused.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Roman Road: We live on the boarder of mile end and Bow, just next to the famous Roman Road market. This is London's East End at its most authentic...we have G.Kellys Pie and Mash shop that has been there for over 100 years and sells jellied eels and bright green liquer for drowning your meal in...and George's Plaice, a tiny little shop selling mussels, cockles and all sorts of cockney style sea creatures!..plus on most days there's all the stall holders selling fruit/veg, the latest east end fashions (!) and just about anything else you can think of!

Parks and canals: We are also right next to the beautiful Victoria Park which regularly has summer events and festivals on plus brand new amazing playgrounds, skate park, cafe's and a boating lake. The canal is nearby as well which is great for cycling along and Mile end park full of houseboats, canal side pubs and a great climbing wall.

Other nearby attractions:
All within a 10-20 minute bus ride - Brick lane and it's Sunday artist and vintage market, beautiful Spitalfields for bespoke shops, trendy Shoreditch for bars, clubs and art galleries, Colombia road flower market, Westfield mega shopping mall, Olympic park, and Broadway market for delicious food stall and cafes.

TRANSPORT
Tube: We are really well positioned for transport right into the city. We are a 10 min walk to the tube station which is on the district (green), hammersmith & city (pink) and central (red) lines - so really convenient to wherever you need to go.
Bus: There are tons of buses that run very near to the house, we find the no.8 and 277 are the most useful.
Bikes: If you fancy cycling around the city there are a number of bicycles stations nearby which you can hire for just £2 for 24 hour access.
Walking: As I mentioned there are loads of places to for nice walking routes nearby like the parks and canals which can lead to the fascinating financial district of Canary Wharf, Camden which is full of quirky market stall, bars, restaurants, goths, punks and hippies and a great place to people watch! and soon to open the Olympic village and park area.

ABOUT US
Myself and partner Alex have lived in our house for a couple of years now and absolutely love living here.We both moved to London about 5 years ago and haven't stopped exploring and discovering new places since. Alex works in the V&A museum which he cycles across London to everyday and I work as an artist on public art projects. We've traveled across the globe and love learning about new cultures and meeting new people so we would be very happy to help you plan all your London activities.

  • Nice place and many things to do around.
    We enjoyed our stay.
Mao the cat is a star !

  • We came down from Nottingham with our 4 year old daughter as we were visiting a wedding nearby and wanted somewhere to stay instead of driving home . The house is lovely and quiet with a great garden for the morning after. Cara made us feel very welcome and we have no hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay.

  • We had a lovely stay in Londen at this very cute house.
Great location! You do have to love cats :)

  • Our stay in Cara & Alex's flat was lovely. The accommodations were exactly as described. As an unexpected bonus, they even had fresh cut flowers in a few places, and in one huge arrangement on the coffee table. Mao the Cat was an amusing pleasure - she likes some pets, then plays rough and disappears for a few hours.

Our favorite intangible part was the experience of how real people live in London, as opposed to a sterile hotel room that can be experienced in any city in the world.

In terms of tangible favorites, it was warm and cozy, whimsically decorated, and absolutely silent at night (and I'm a very light sleeper!)

I would absolutely consider staying there again for my next trip to London!

  • My family stayed in Cara and Alex's lovely home for five nights. The house was spacious enough for four people and in a great location for getting to main attraction points in London as Mile End station is only 10 minutes walk away.

House was very homely, clean and has a lovely garden. Mao, the cat, was no trouble at all. I'd really recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore London, you won't find better for such a reasonable price!

  • Un appartement très mignon, confortable et assez spacieux pour 4 dans un environnement très sympa. le jardin est vraiment un plus. Des hôtes super réactifs à toutes nos questions et qui ont fait en sorte que notre séjour se déroule au mieux.

  • Alex and Cara were lovely - as was their cat! Really friendly and helpful hosts. Great house with a private garden.

  • What a pleasure it was from start to finish! Cara & Alex have a beautiful, welcoming home and will def stay there again! Nothing was too much bother and we were made to feel most welcome.
Would recommend this property to anyone visiting London.
