Super wonderful house and the owners are super nice... Definitely worth the trip out side of the city... :) must stay location in Iceland...
Eyglo and her husband are friendly and kind - I was made to feel like a long lost friend more than a guest. The peaceful farm, horses and extremely scenic location are all very special. Good value and highly recommended!
Eyglo was a great host and it was fantastic to be able to stay out on the farm with her and her husband. She provides a nice breakfast with homemade bread and different jams all of which she makes herself. The place is nice and warm and the bed is very comfortable. The house is about 30 minutes north of Akueyreri.
Eygló was a wonderful host during a very snowy few days in Iceland. We enjoyed the location, and we even saw the Northern Lights on our first night. A truly amazing experience...
My stay at Eygló's little bit of paradise North of Akureyri was a real delight. I can't think how I could have been made more comfortable and more welcome into her home. My comfortable room was warm and cosy and I had free access to all the amenities I needed. As I also had my suppers with Eygló and her husband I got to try some authentic Icelandic cuisine. It was a truly unique culinary adventure and one I wouldn't have missed for the world. I particularly enjoyed our chats about her farm, her work, the local area and Iceland in general. I learn't loads! For a very reasonable extra charge Eygló shuttled me to and from the airport. I'd love to return.
A very warm welcome awaited us from Eygló and her husband, from the moment we arrived. Her knowledge of the area and stories of Icelandic folk law are highly entertaining way to while away the evening. Not to mention the cooking - wonderful homemade breads, preserves, cakes and herbal teas and we would highly recommend you take up the offer of an evening meal if it is available - it was the one of the best meals we ate in Iceland. The location is perfect - just far enough away from Akureyri to feel you were in the countryside, but not so far that you couldn't pop in for a meal/shopping in the evening. Also great central location for visiting Dalvic (amazing whale watching with Artic Sea Tours) and the rest of the Tröllaskagi Peninsula, and the area around Mývatn, which is stunning, especially in the winter (go to the Hot Spings here rather than Blue Lagoon - much less touristy, and much cheaper!). Would highly recommend a stay with Eygló if you are ever visiting this area of Iceland. And don't forget to take a step back in time with a browse around her gallery.
You can not hope to get more wonderful place to stay in northern Iceland.
Eyglo is so welcoming!
She furnished us with precious informations during our stay. The House is just perfect, clean and well equiped. Also very near to Akureyri.
My Special points: The typical icelandic breakfast and the beautiful undergound bathroom!
The accommodations were as advertised. You are staying on an old farm near the tip of a gorgeous fjord. The views are spectacular and on our first stay with Eygló the tops of the mountains were dusted with snow and a light fog covered the valley. Truly awe inspiring.
Eygló also prepared a tasty breakfast each morning at our requested time.
What wonderful hosts! What a beautiful house! So artistic... Olygu is a very very interesting person and I enjoyed speaking with her. We talked about food to spirituality. Her place is a magical place, with a beach and a lake! The 2 students over from Germany are especially nice too. Beds were comfy and breakfast was lush :-) BOOK NOW!
Eyglo was a pleasure to stay with and we enjoyed some Icelandic culture with her and her family. I would recommend a stay with her when you are travelling to the north of Iceland.
