Leuke plek mooie omgeving, vlakbij akureyri. Zelf gebakken brood en jam. Keuken om zelf een maaltijd te maken. Buiten het huis al prachtig om te wandelen op het land van deze familie. Eyglo is Herboriste. Warme perssonlijkheid. We hebben goed geslapen alles netjes schoon. Kom graag terug.
Eyglo's place is beautiful and she was a very gracious and kind host. I very much enjoyed my stay on her and her husband's farm, it is a bit remote and hard to find but that is part of its charm. I suggest a visit to the gallery if it can be arranged -- I took home some handmade goods for me and my family. I would gladly stay here again.
Relaxing stay outside the hustle of Akureyri! Room was as pictured, breakfast was delicious, and water was hot. Easy access to the ring road made this a great choice for our road trip. Plus Eyglo was accommodating with our dinner reservation and our infant daughter :)
Eygló's place is located approximatly 20 kilometres in the North of Akureyri on the road 82 which leads to Dalvik. Coming from the South you have to turn right and drive along a narrow gravel path that goes up a little slope. You pass by a beautiful blue lake that has been formed by a mole through the fjord and some grassy fields and after another turn to the right you reach Eygló's that lies around 500 metres away from the mainroad. It is in close proximity to the fjord, however, you can see it only in distance as on the nearby side the view is blocked by the hills. But when you go for a walk up the hills, through the fields where lots of birds are nesting, you gain a fantastic view onto the fjord and together with the setting sun a wunderful atmosphere arises. Eygló's place consists of the family's home which offers two double bedrooms for guests, a camper and a van as quite unique overnight accommodations, a so-called coffeehouse where breakfast is served and the laundry rooms for guests sleeping in either the camper or the van are located and another builing looking like a bigger shed where Eygló has located her gallery. The arrangement of the described items as well as the furnishing of the residential house and the coffeehouse where no unit seems to fit the other appear a bit improvised in terms of stylistic requirements. This is not meant to be criticism as, in spite that fact or precisely because of it, the place reveals its charm. Anyhow we felt very much at home. This was in large part due to Eygló's granddaughter who showed us the facilities at our arrival. But Eygló, as all hosts we met in Iceland, was very kind and helpful, too. All in all this place is highly recommendable, even though the meditation music which played in the coffeehouse during breakfast and surely fits in the ambience, might not be everyone's cup of tea. Nonetheless Eygló's paradise in the north of Akureyri, as she called it, is definitely worth a trip and deservedly gains a five-star rating.
Eyglo was lovely as was her assistant . The area was beautiful. The breakfast lovely.

About the Host, Eygló
I have lived in the area almost all my life, so I can provide you with a lot of insider information. 15 years ago my husband and I quit farming. I have studied Natural Healing and Aromatherapie. My Healingroom is here on the Farm, so if you feel like it, you can book a treatment.
I speak Icelandic and English, my English writing is not so good yet, so please excuse.
